Cahill's recovery “On Track”

Should be fit for next season
Tim Cahiill has told the Everton official website that his recovery is on schedule and going well after he had yet more surgery a few weeks ago in an attempt to finally put an end to the problems he has had with repeated breakages of the metatarsal in his foot. He said he would stay out for a season if that's what was needed to put it right; however, he thinks he only has six years of football left, and as we know, he wants to spend those years playing for Everton!   More External link

Surgery for Baines

Time to solve ankle problem
The season has been one injury horror after another for prized left-back Leighton Baines, who has now had surgery to resolve an ankle problem sustained back in October. Baines also tore his hamstring in the 3-0 win over Fulham, after having arrived as a £6M purchase with a groin injury! His record with Wigan was far better, so let's hope we will see him claim that left-back slot for his own next season.   More External link

Moyes coy about crunch talks

The likely range needed is £20M to £40M
Talking with David Prentice in the Liverpool Echo, David Moyes deflected concerns about the level of investment in new players Bill Kenwright will provide to fund the manager's revised 4-year plan, that is thought to require between £20M and £40M: "We'll probably get together some time at the end of next week. No date has been set. It will probably be Thursday or Friday, but I'm totally relaxed about it."   More External link

Yakubu delivers the goods

Everton 3 - 1 Newcastle United
After a poor initial display from the Blues it all changed on the half-hour with a good delivery in from Fernandes that was turned in brilliantly with a great diving header by Yakubu — his 20th goal of the season! But Everton were sleeping after their warm half-time cuppa, Yobo forced to bring N'Zogbia down and Owen converted from the spot. Nervy times with news of Villa winning at West Ham, relieved only when Joleon Lescott stepped up at the far post to shoot home off another great Fernandes free-kick. Then a miracle: Penalty for Everton! Converted superbly by The Yak!!! A great finish for the season.   More Go

Last run out for Cars?

No decision until after his hols
Ian Doyle of the Daily Post talks with Lee Carsely, who may be pulling on the Royal Blue Everton jersey for the last time tomorrow if he decides that he has a better bet playing out his career elsewhere. When Carsley signed seven years ago, he was a bit of a Jonah, having been relegated with his three previous teams! But many times in that period he has proved to be the solid core of Moyes's often limited midfield. Is it time to make way for new blood...???   More External link
