Damn that internet!

It helps if you are threatening legal action that you get the right target. Everton's recent letter threatening legal action against vociferous opponents of Destination Kirkby, KEIOC, cited keioc.com — turns out to be the website of a Japanese orthodontist — and not keioc.net, their intended target... Ooops!
<datePosted></datePosted>

Moyes won't accept lock on Sky 4

"I can't turn up at the start of next season believing we can't be up there [in the top four]. Even this season, until the beginning of March, we had a realistic chance. And if we could have got there it could have changed Everton for a long, long time. We're probably more ready now than we were three years ago, and if we'd got in I think we could have made the group stages. With the money that's on offer we could have changed things..."
<datePosted></datePosted>

Joleon is the tops

Joleon Lescott was voted the Player of the Season by fans and also by his fellow players at Everton's lavish awards dinner in St George's Hall, Liverpool, last night. The 25-year-old has performed superbly in 53 games for Everton this season and notched an impressive nine goals, mostly from his position as makeshift left-back.

Finally, Arteta has surgery

After being told for months that Mikel Arteta did not need surgery to fix the problem that has dogged him since October, and reduced his performances to a pale shadow of what we know he can do... Guess What?! He's finally had surgery to fix his niggling stomach/groin muscle problem and will hopefully be fit for pre-season training in July

Kirkby plans to be resubmitted

Tesco will resubmit plans for Destination Kirkby that will respond to a number of complaints about the project, including a sizeable cut in the amount of retail space that was needed to "cross-fund" the new stadium for Everton. Lots of positive and negative spin from proponents and opponents as to what this means for the future of the project.
Discuss it <a href="/season/07-08/comment/mailbag/mailbagitem.asp?submissionID=7230"> here</a> in our Mailbag.
<datePosted></datePosted>

Hibbo: Defensive dervish

David Moyes has been talking up Tony Hibbert after the much-maligned full-back put in a good day's graft at The Emirates against Arsenal, and kept Theo Walcott well bottled up. Interesting that Moyes sees him primariliy as a defender for the bigger games (ie, against the Sky 4) — but chooses to rest him and play Neville at right back when a slightly more expansive gameplan is warranted. <a href="/season/07-08/comment/mailbag/mailbagitem.asp?submissionID=7220">

Lack of ambition prolongs uncertainty

Everton go into the final game still not sure of 5th place as an under-strength and under-motivated Arsenal grabbed the goal they needed to record yet another win over the Blues. Johnson led the line with Yakubu on the bench but it was Jagielka with the best chance of a pedestrian first half that at least saw Everton playing it on the deck, his header cleared off the line. Arsenal were there for the taking but Moyes seemed content to play out the draw, so Wenger put Traore on and he soon created a simple winning goal for Bendtner. Moyes belatedly responded with Yakubu and Anichebe for the last 10 mins but it was all so disappointingly predictable.
<datePosted></datePosted>

Arsenal vs Everton

Everton travel to The Emirates today knowing that one point guarantees Uefa Cup football next season and the unofficial title of "best of the rest" for David Moyes's men. Mikel Arteta is out but Andy Johnson and Steven Pienaar faced late tests before the 1:30pm kick off, and were deemed fit enough to play. Yakubu is dropped to the bench to allow Carsley and Neville to play in midfield, with Hibbert back in the team.

The pressure is off!

After Saturday's games, Everton need just a point from their last two matches — perhaps not even that — to secure 5th place in the Premier League and qualification for the Uefa Cup next season. Aston Villa, the biggest threat in the chasing pack, crashed 2-0 in a must-win game at home to Wigan. Portsmouth also lost 2-0 at Boro.
<datePosted></datePosted>
