Early draws

I had one of those nights last night, you know, you wake up... bang... It's 3.00am and you just know you're not going to get back off. When they happen in the working week you usually nod off 20 mins before the alarm is due to go.

When plan A is met with a gentle ladylike snore, it's over to plan B; unlike Bully I do have one. So there I am, 10 to 4 toast and coffee and a bemused dog wondering where the fuck HIS breakfast has got to. I leave the DVD set as I might yet drift off.

94 mins later it seems that I am suffering sleep deprivation, as I am having flashbacks, in fact two lots of flashbacks, 69-70 and 84-85.

They have been the only times I knew, deep down KNEW, without a shadow of a doubt, that, even if we went a goal down, it didn't matter it was but a mere hiccup on the way to an ultimate triumph that would taste all the more sweeter for having been won the 'hard way'.

This is how it feels now. The parallels mount up, or so it seems. Is the 7-1 vs Sunderland, the 5-0 vs Man U, reputedly the only game in recent memory that Everton put together two decent halves in the same match. Well I couldn't see much wrong with those two halves vs West Ham.

Some point to Harvey's promotion to assistant as a turning point... Holden anybody??

Will somebody keep us in the Carling semi with a Richardson-esque hand ball on the goal line?

Will we play Liverpool in the final, perhaps with a better result?

Will next years fixtures give us games against Spurs and WBA that we can lose and then marmalise the rest and win it with 5 games to go?

Sleep deprivation has a lot to answer for, but it's bloody good fun. Draws all round for the so called big 4 will keep Arsenal within 8 points and ? with 21 games left ? it is definitely do-able... told you this sleep deprivation was good stuff.

And finally, early days yet but, baring a big effort from Arteta, Stevie P-Laa will be giving the Yak a run for his money for Player of the Year... Or am I still asleep and it's all a dream??

Joe McP: Any dream will do, although, with the right ingredients, a bumpy ride home in the taxi, I can do a pretty good technicolour yawn.

Hope we get Spurs in the semi final then Liverpool in the final!
Interesting to notice all the empty spaces at Blackburn last night.
Makes you realise what a massive club Everton is.
