Nothing but the Best

I read the posts with interest each week, I watch every game, albeit mostly now from afar but I have been a season tickect holder from the days of the Boys Pen, so I reckon I have the right to say some critical things about my football club.

Somewhere 20 years ago we lost the Nothing but the Best tag. We made appalling board decisions that have reverberated through the decades and crippled the team and the club going forward. We missed the boat big time. To be placed alongside Bolton, Wigan, Newcastle, West Ham blah blah breaks my heart and gets me so angry. You can almost see the hands go up in resignation of 'Thats the way it is' in the boardroom.

I have been critical of the club's stance on relocation. What a pack of shit they served us up. But guess what? Most of those balloted chose the club's warped vision of the future and now, the club's folly lies before them to the ridicule of the football world. To those of you who couldn't care where we play, I say "Shame on you." Look at EVERY great club around the world... what do they trade on? Tradition, that's what. We are taking Tesco's 20 pieces of silver to sell our club down the Mersey.

Wake up for Christ's sake. There ARE other options that COULD be done. Bill Kenwright himself has stated that if Kirkby fell through then they would look at Goodision redevelopment. Hello... so all of a sudden it won't be a bad idea???

Which brings me to the team performances, Yes, we have improved; yes, we do have a good squad; and yes, we arguably have one of the best managers in the Premier League. But some of his tactics have lost us points and games, bad calls or team selection, the reluctance to use subs... need I go on?

I hate it when we lose. I EXPECT the team to win every time they play. I don't care if it's Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea, Barcelona, Florentina... I refuse to pat myself on the back and say, "What a good team we are and how unlucky we are." No, we're not unlucky, we aren't good enough. The secret of a good team is they win when they play crap. We can play well and lose. Frequently.

If Moyes was lured away next season, where would we be? In Kirkby, the football wilderness without direction, on and off the field. The best investment the club can make is to use the $100m plus to fund a site that could inspire good players to come to play for us in Liverpool ? not a site that inspires great players to go to Liverpool FC.

You are what you believe. We are not an also-ran club. It's my club; it's your club so don't accept second / third best; support the team yes, but drive for improvement. I want to see our team win with style in a stadium I am proud of.
