Moyes to Spurs

By Pablo   Connelly  ::  14/06/2012   36 Comments (»Last) Well if this one has legs many on here will rejoice, they will finally have there wish. Problem is though some still feel we have the pulling power to take our pick of promising managers.

Bilic and Martinez have already been touted. I think we are in for a reality check if Moyes goes because who is going to stake their reputation on a project without funds? Certainly not anyone who has already proved to be a decent manager at the highest level. They would also have the pressure of matching or bettering a man who consistantly finishes in the top 7 without a budget.

So that will leave us either taking a chance on an unknown or (and I believe Bill will take this option) bring out an Evertonian from off the radar such as Peter Reid. The nostalgia of this could make that type of option appealing,.Reidy would come in talking with passion about 'his' club and bring lots of former greats into his backroom.

In reality, though, whoever gets the job will also be faced with the aftermath of picking up the pieces. This is because Moyes team will almost certainly break up. One thing we know about Moyes is he sticks to what he knows.

As new Spurs manager he would absolutley make Felliani, Jags, Heitinga and I fear Jelavic his primary targets. He will also be armed with his Bale and Moderic money.

He won't get Baines because he is being tapped up by 'once a blue' as we speak. A cut price deal will be wrapped up by Fergie as soon as Moyes is out the door.

So what then for the new manager? In reality he will only get a small percentage of any transfer funds so the prospect of any progression will be lost in my opinion. I paint a bleak picture I know, one which will be resoundly stamped on by those who call me an apologist.

One thing is for certain though David Moyes has nothing to apologise about his achievements over last 10 years. He is an Everton legend in my opinion, and I don't apologise for it.
