Seamus Coleman was left out of the Republic of Ireland's squad to face Andorra at the weekend but the Everton midfielder is prepared to fight harder for his place rather than "throw his toys out the pram."

In a little over a year, the 23 year-old has gone from Ireland's U-21 side to being a regular in Giovanni Trapattoni's senior squad but was disappointed to be omitted from his country's win over the European minnows.

"Obviously I was very disappointed... but you have to get over that," Seamus is quoted in the Daily Mail. "The most important thing is the team and getting the win.

"Being a professional footballer you want to be on the pitch and if not the pitch, the bench. But you've just got to get on with it, work hard in training and see what happens. I'm not going to throw my toys out of the pram. I'm not like that. I want to be involved but if that isn't the case I'll just work harder.

"I think I've definitely developed very well, and it's my aim to keep getting better and someday be a regular for my country. I've just got to keep my head down."
