Cahill again plays while injured

David Moyes has confirmed that Tim Cahill was carrying an injury during the Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea — it's not entirely clear, however, whether he sustained it this evening or whether it was a pre-existing complaint.

Cahill has been struggling to maintain full fitness for much of 2011, a fact perhaps underscored by the fact that he hasn't scored so far for Everton this calendar year. He remains, however, a first-choice regular for David Moyes and he was restored to the starting line-up for the cup visit of Chelsea after starting on the bench at Fulham on Sunday.

Indeed, Moyes has been known to field the Australian even when he isn't fully fit, retaining faith that his Talisman can still be effective playing through the pain barrier.
