Mixed messages on Gibson injury

David Moyes suggests that overplaying Darron Gibson by selecting him for every game since his arrival (none of which have ended in defeat) after he had played so little this season could be a factor in causing the injury that will now sideline him for up to a month. However, he adds, "It's not been an over-use injury or something that we've done..."

"It's going to be a big blow because he's played all the games and, as far as I'm being told, we've not lost since he's been in the team," admitted the Blues boss.

"I always had a worry that he might pick up an injury because I've had to play him regularly and when you've not really played regular and as consistent as he has had to do for us in the last month or two, it was always going to be a danger that he picked up an injury.

"But I've not had anybody available really who I could swap him with and take him out. It's not been an over-use injury or something that we've done - it's a knee ligament injury so it was maybe nothing we could do about it.

"I think when you get somebody in who's not played a lot and you play them so much then you're always running the chance that they can get injured."
