Tim Howard has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract that will keep him at Goodison Park until 2016.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper, who has been a fixture in David Moyes's first team since arriving from Old Trafford in 2007, had two years left to run on his previous deal.

In inking a four-year extension, the USA's number 1 has tied himself to Everton until his 37th birthday. "I couldn't be happier. I've had a smile on my face ever since we finalised the deal," Howard told evertontv. "When you have a really good relationship in life and both sides are eager to continue and keep that going, it's a no-brainer.

"This hasn't been a knockdown, drawn-out type of negotiation with meetings or anything like that. They were very happy to keep me here and I was very happy to stay. It's a place that is home for me."
