Cold water poured on Baines reports

Despite the building fervour in the national press regarding a £12m approach, Everton have had no contact from Manchester United regarding Leighton Baines according to the Liverpool Echo.

Speculation in The Mirror earlier this week, fueled by matching reports in the Daily Mail, claimed that United chief, David Gill, had held talks with Bill Kenwright regarding an initial offer for the England left back.

But Everton have apparently rejected the speculation and sources in Manchester deny that any approach has been made, reinforcing a tweet by BBC Chief Sports Writer, Phil McNulty, to that effect yesterday.

Additionally, it is believed that the Blues have not lodged any inquiry for Kieran Richardson.

Reports had suggested that David Moyes had made his interest in the 27-year-old known with Sunderland.
