Victor eyes injury-free season

, 20 August, 23comments  |  Jump to most recent
Victor Anichebe is hoping he can finally show Toffees supporters what he is capable of this season. The last three campaigns have been particularly frustrating, Anichebe making only 46 appearances, the majority of them from the bench.

A groin injury was his main problem last season, ruling him out until January, but when he did return he scored five goals in 14 appearances, and he is optimistic he can pick up where he left off.

"My aim is to stay fit. Last season I came back and I scored five goals in not so many appearances so towards the end of last season I did pretty well.

"Hopefully this year I can stay injury free and I never know where that will take me. I'm sure I've put all that stuff behind me now. I've been unfortunate in the past but that's nothing I can dwell on."

I hope so Kevin. Never gonna be more than a impact sub at best, and at worst a liability

With lucky he's now well down the pecking order. He must know that himself if he has any sense at all. My heart always sinks when he's on the pitch. An awful player who, sure, had for him a dream run in the Spring, but, overall, gives us very little: out on the right NO; in the middle AIN'T GOOD ENOUGH.

One of the mysteries for me at any rate is why he got that long contract (perhaps though it might add £100k onto the sell value), but this, I predict, will be his last year with us, and when he comes back to the Old Lady FA Cup 3rd Round v Burnley, he'll get a polite round of applause.

Blah blah blah sell him.

When you've had more injuries than first team goals, then you're not a good striker. You're the Hibbert of the forward line.

Think it was on here last year he was described accurate enough as having a curious mix of arrogance and self doubt.

Let him play against West Ham so he can kick the shit out of that thug Nolan, then sell him

Is it just an 'urban myth' that Dirk Kuyt has actually scored more goals at Goodison the Big Vic ?

If anyone is stupid enough to offer money for the useless galoot, snap their arm off.

Baffles me what Moyes sees in him, a poor excuse for a footballer...

Get him off the books!!!

If my researches are correct, Vic's scored 7 league goals at Goodison in his career - although he's only scored 2 in the last four seasons!

From what I can see, Kuyt only scored 3 against us at our place, plus a couple at their place in derbies.

So yes, an urban myth.

He's like some rent-a-quote... I don't even understand why the press speak to him or seek his opinion!! He's been saying the same shit for two years!! Injury free... run of games... big season... blah blah fuckin blah!!

He's a big useless joke as a player who can't pass a ball or head a ball or turn a man or shoot with any real conviction. Can't control it. Never wins an aerial challenge. Go away victor and pretend to be a footballer in the championship which is probably a few divisions higher than your talent deserves.

Or put another way: He's just dog shit!!

Funny because I remember him winning us points last year.

Wonder what you lot were watching?

He is big, strong... good pace and can strike the ball well and cause any opposition problems. Not really dog-shit... How about we judge him on his actual ability after a run of injury-free games?
As long as he wears Royal Blue, I for one will cheer him on.
I suppose we are not collectively chastising Hibbert and Ossie any more after realising how good they have been for us over the years that we need some other whipping boy.

He doesn't help himself with the scowling when he does score. He can be effective from the bench but no more than that. If he's not happy with that role then time for him to jog on.

Big Victor... is he trying to be our Ballotelli with the scowling & posturing? Except without the ability...

He's a great big bugger tho, stick him in goals!

Unreal this "reporting"

This is almost as bad as "Neville: Ossie is up for the fight this season" - lazy, obvious, non-news reporting!

I wish I could spend my days getting paid for reporting non-news! That would be a great life... oh, well, in my next lifetime I'm going to work for tribal football or caught offside

He thumps the ground, looks at refs, falls on his arse... But... half the Premier League does that. Why the total almost universal hate for Vic?
