Moyes has the recipe for success

Howard hails the great motivator
Tim Howard told the Daily Star: “The spirit at the club is incredible. There are no egos and the guys all fight for each other.

“When we saw we had Manchester United at home as our first game of the season we thought, ‘Oh my God'.... But I think we dominated our opener against them and deserved the win.

“David Moyes has a real good recipe for success. He doesn't just bring in every good player available. He brings in guys who can play two positions who will also buy into The Everton Way. And then he guides them along. He's an incredible motivator. And he gets better at it every year."

“We now want to finish in the top six and get into Europe. The Champions League might be a stretch because we can't spend the same kind of money as the five or six clubs in England who can.

“But on the pitch I think we have what it takes to do well in the Premier League. And getting back to Wembley would be great, too.

“At the moment we are focused and determined, we're scoring goals and winning games but we're also putting in good performances. We have had a good start to the season — it's been brilliant.

“We played some good football in pre-season but the way we've been on song in most of the games so far this season has been super- impressive and that part of it has been awesome.”

Not sure Timmy. We're just missing 2 or 3 players to really make a go of it I reckon. Maybe if we had got Vadis, Holtby and another striker. My money's on 6th place and maybe a cup semifinal. Not terrible but don't think it constitutes succes.

Doesn't success mean actually WINNING something... or is it all just part of Moyes's Ten-Year Plan?

Success relative to the club's current position, not in relation to its historical standing.

Tony, depends whether you are a realist or a fantasist. Success in modern day football isn't necessarily winning things because, unlike in previous eras, only a small number of teams can actually win anything.

Good article, Tim.

Nevermind the Trophies, feel the Spirit! Sorry but 6th and a cup run is not success, it's bare minimum requirement.*watches in dismay as too many cheer Bill's photo*

Sorry Martin, but we are EVERTON, are we not? If I didn't believe we can actually win something then I wouldn't watch another game... It's what keeps me going!

Tony Cheek, prepare to be disppointed mate. It is highly possible that Everton will never win another trophy. That is the most likely outcome.

NEVER?....thats a bloody long time Martin. Luckily I am not that pessimistic. Not very long ago there was a lot of people that thought we would never be better than Liverpool.......Well, look whats happened!
