Garbutt to have ankle damage assessed

Reserve defender Luke Garbutt will see a specialist this week to have damaged ligaments in his ankle assessed.

The 19 year-old returned to action for Everton U21s on Monday after two months on the sidelines — presumably for the same injury; the report on the Official Site is not clear — but he now faces an additional layoff, the length of which will hopefully be ascertained after his assessment this week.

The ex-Leeds teenager made his senior debut in the League Cup win over Leyton Orient earlier this season and spent last season on loan at Cheltenham Town where he made 37 appearances.
