Everton find success in targeting youth

Everton are touting the success of their new ticket pricing initiatives for young fans, with big increases seen in the number of juniors signing up for full- and half-season tickets this season.

After introducing "fiver-a-game" tickets for home FA Cup ties, the Club began offering season tickets for under elevens for just $95 in the summer and 1,500 junior supporters took up the offer.

That contributed to a 39% increase in the number of Evertonians under the age of 16 who bought season tickets for 2012-13 as the Club wisely focuses on building its future fanbase.

Half-season tickets went on sale on Monday and adoption rates are running at double that at the same stage last year.

Half Season Tickets are now on sale and kids under the age of 11 can secure their seat for the second half of the season for only £50. To buy your Half Season Ticket, visit the Box Office at Goodison Park, Everton Two in Liverpool One, call the Fan Centre on 0871 663 1878 or online at evertonfc.com.

Good call- especially in these financially difficult times. Good idea to target younger fans too, hopefully you can then get a fan for life! Would be nice to see more price cuts- guess that might mean players taking a bit of a wage cut though...

This Junior Evertonian from 1983 agrees. In your early teens the ground looks much bigger, the noise louder, the memories are there for ever and that's them hooked for life. When they grow up and make their way in the world, be assured they will be back and spread the word on their travels.

The effect of this is more important than we realise. There are countless, passionate Evertonians across the world who still really care about our Club despite not attending a match for many years.

And Yes, we are still very active with attempting to achieve the objectives of Trust Everton.

Seems a good thread to mention the Everton-affiliated US youth teams are doing well.

Tony: The effect of this is more important than we realise.

I remember thinking as much when they first put the junior season tickets on sale for $95. The financial impact will be limited in the short term but the long-term effects for the Club could be incalculable.

It's a smart, laudable move by EFC at a time when there are certainly more glamourous options to turn the heads of the northwest's youth.

Tony J, I saw a 40+ year old getting turfed from the turnstyles at the Park End a few weeks ago trying to get in on a kid ticket.
