Everton agree fee for Leroy Fer

23 year-old Dutch midfielder set for medical

Everton have agreed a deal to sign the Dutch international midfielder Leroy Fer from FC Twente, subject to a medical, the club has confirmed.

The fee is reported to be around €10m (£8.6m), most likely involving staggered payments. He will now travel to Merseyside to discuss personal terms on a proposed 4½-year contract and undergo medical examination.

23 this month, Fer has two caps for the Netherlands and will join international teammate John Heitinga at Goodison if the deal goes through.

David Moyes hinted at the weekend that he was looking to push through a late deal or two and Fer looks set to become the first new face at Goodison in the January window so far.

Fer, nicknamed "The Bouncer" due to his physical strength, is described as a box-to-box midfielder and has been compared to Patrick Vieira and Yaya Toure. He was linked with a move to Goodison as far back as July 2010 but nothing came of the speculation.

In all, Fer, a rumoured target of Arsenal, Liverpool and Juventus, played 38 times for Twente scoring 11 goals and picking up three yellow cards after joining the Eredevisie side from Feyenoord, who will pick up a €600,000 sell-on fee.

In an interview with RTV, Fer admits that he did not expect to be moving in the January transfer window but is looking forward to playing in England.

"I was surprised about the interest Everton had in me," he said. "But it´s always a nice next step to go to the Premier League, for myself, for my qualities. Everton has always been a very nice club to go to, so I´m very pleased they went for me. It all happened a bit earlier than I expected to be honest".

"They came faster than expected, because I only expected to go in the summer in the earliest."

Heitinga, expounded Fer's qualities on Twitter this afternoon, saying that he will improve the Blues' team:

Leroy #Fer is an athletic dynamic midfielder with great skills! He plays for the Dutch national team and will make #Everton stronger. #COYB

Off the field, Fer hit headlines last year when he spent €22,000 on a horse for his girlfriend, only to find she could not keep it as she lives in a block of flats.

Let's hope this fellow is as good as they say... another Patrick Viera. If he fulfills his potential he will be a real coup!!

I take back all my negative comments but I must admit I don't know him. Then again I did not know Felli either.

If Rodwell cost more than him its tremendous business for us and just what we need to push us on to the top if he is as good as they all predict. I'm really excited that the club have done something positive and not gone for bargain basement stuff that turns out not to be bargains!

The fans will soon pay the money back at the turnstiles if Leroy is the goods.

This is already on Wikipedia... surely a little prankery in there.

On January 28th 2013, it was announced that a fee of €10m had been agreed between FC Twente and English Premier League club Everton for the transfer of Fer's registration. He is also known for having size 18 feet and ingrowing toe nails on his left foot, he uses them to curl the ball better. A fan of English football as a child, Fer was quoted as saying of the move "it's a great honour for me to be joining the team of one of my greatest idols... Ray Atteveld".

Moyes poor mouth suddenly pulls £8.5m out of the back pocket, business done on the quiet for a change so I can't complain. Dutch international looks and sounds the part. This Dutch lad came out of nowhere.

More than I was expecting I must admit, although I confess, I don't think I have heard of Leroy Fer, unless if I think really hard I may have done? Unless that was a dream.... So – looks like we have a signing in the bag.

Wanted to know of anyone has seen the lad play and if this means the end for Fellaini.

Personally – I think Felli will go in the summer either way, with Fer being his replacement, with Moyes insisting on having 6 months to bed his new man in before Fellaini goes!

Tom Bowers
59 Posted 28/01/2013 at 14:16:42
Well I have said more strength needed in midfield so this may be a good move. We shall see how he performs but wasn't Heitinga signed to strengthen midfield originally?

Heard he bought a horse for his girlfriend who lives in a block of flat. Maybe he thought she could keep it in the garage? Sounds almost as funny as taking a knife to a gunfight.

My question to Moyes: Will you play him or have him playing footsie on the bench with Vellios, Barkley and Gueye etc?

Steve Ferns
60 Posted 28/01/2013 at 14:16:59
According to Wikipedia he's following his idol to Everton, Ray Atteveld. Made me laugh. You will remember this guy as he's the idiot who spent £22,000 on a horse for his girlfriend who lives in a block of flats.

According to what I've read, he's not very technically gifted, but is a hard working Moyes type player, likely to come in and play the anchor role. Considering that this is really our weakest link, then this could be a great signing, and hopefully the end of Phil Neville, at least in midfield.

This signing does not appear to be the end of Fellaini, because if anything, he's been brought in to provide the defensive cover we lack due to Fellaini's flaws.

Guessing everyone will be taken a back with the news we have actually spent money to buy what might be a quality player. I love the way Moyes keeps all these deals under wraps. But what does Leroy Fer bring to the table? I'm sure YouTube have never had so many hits in such a short time.

What you see there is a tall, strong young man who is being compared to Patrick Viera. Moyes has gone for size and skill with Leroy and along side Felli they will make an impressive pair. More to the point, this may mean that Felli is going to play further up the pitch which in turn I hope will mean the reappearance of Jelavic as our top goal scorer.

It might mean the return to a more direct playing style but if it works.....and will give us a plan B when the Baines-Pienaar-Osman triangle is not working. Also it may mean that both Gibbo and Mirallas are set to be out for a while.

At the end of the day it proves we do have some money to spend — and don't play cards with Moyes!!!

Whatever he is, he's not a replacement for Felli. Felli is a striker at Everton, not a midfielder for ages now.

The money: Can only guess that someone will be leqaving either now or quite likely in the summer. Felli will leave if we don't make CL. That'll still mean another £20 million after this deal is paid for. And if we make the CL. The money for that will pay for this fella.

To be honets, if we were to spend, I wanted a striker. We are not taking enough chances, and should be close to Chealsea right now. But, hey I'm not complaining.

I've got to be honest and say I've never heard of him. It says on the BBC website £7 million fee agreed and he's got 10 goals in 29 games for McLaren's side. That's some going for a supposed holding midfielder.

Apparantly we don't have to sell ANYBODY to fund this deal. If this is true then it is great news. He is the type of player most of us have been asking for (I thought Capoue but happy with this too.)

I watch quite a lot of European football and he is a decent player, surprised we got him really as others were surely in for him. Now all we need is a striker to help out Jelavic! (Vossen please)

Kris Boner

Pretty impressive goalscoring record for a defensive midfielder at Twente. 10 in 29 games... That is almost as prolific as Jelavic this season...

106 Posted 28/01/2013 at 15:04:30
Deal is believed to be an initial fee followed by installments, so funding wise likely to be similar to the Fellaini deal where we end up paying it over the course of his contract.

I actually recommended this lad 5 years ago when he was just 18, see comment 16...

https://toffeeweb.com/season/07-08/comment/editorial/7728.html

He's not a defensive mid but more a box-to-box player who scores a lot of goals. If he remains injury-free he will be a great addition. Might need some time to adjust to the Premier League obviously.

Brings down the average age of our team a bit too - it will no longer be full of old nags. And hopefully after this signing you won't be able to drive a coach and horses through our midfield anymore.

I've also heard that horses love to feed off Jelly...

Since our reserve keeper is rather underemployed these days, perhaps he can be asked to Mucha-out the stables where Fer's girlfriend's horse lives.

Enough!

Get in! Just what we need, a midfielder and one that looks half decent (having recently broken into the Dutch side). Also called 'the bouncer' so maybe a hardman in the middle.

Love the Wikipedia writ-up – 'On 28th January 2013 it was announced that Everton FC of the English Premier League had agreed a deal to secure the services of Leroy Fer with Fer's agent stating that although Liverpool football club had been interested in signing him he wanted to sign for a "big club". :-)

Get him signed up sharpish.

Looks like we've borrowed £7m against next years' TV money – if this lad is half decent and also at only 23, that would be money well spent.

(Not much to say about his intelligence though!)

Fer play to Moyes for pulling this one off.

If he and Gibson can avoid pulling up with injuries for the rest of the season then there should be some intense jockeying for position in our midfield.

Fourth place at a canter.

So much for a couple of loan signings if we're lucky.

I'd thought the M'Vila stuff was just putting on a show of being interested in someone we had no real chance of competing for financially, and then this happens! Based on the M'Vila figures quoted is it fair to assume that the 8 - 10 million euros won't be going as one installment or have things changed that much since last week? Maybe it was the personal terms that were the main problem in turning his head from the Russians.

Or is Leroy a better prospect than M'Vila (and Odjidja-Ofoe for that matter)? Personally, don't have a clue about this lad and a little worried to hear he has had some recent injury problems, but it is exactly the sort of signing I was hoping for in the middle of the park.

Fingers crossed it is finalised, the lad settles quickly, no-one needs to go before the summer, and there may even be a couple of loans as well.

Bought a horse for my girlfriend (a 3 year old chestnut mare)

By coincidence, she also lives in a 4th floor flat.

Good! I've been waiting for a headline like "Everton sign boss player" for a while now. Leroy Fer has spoken of his proposed move to Everton, following news this afternoon that Everton agreed an £8.5m fee for the 23-year-old midfielder.

Interview: Leroy Fer over zijn transfer

TRANSLATION:

Fer: "I was surprised about the interest Everton had in me. But it´s always a nice next step to go to the Premier League, for myself, for my qualities. Everton has always been a very nice club to go to, so I´m very pleased they went for me. It all happened a bit earlier than I expected to be honest".

"I´m a box-to-box player so that fits good in England. They came faster than expected, because I only expected to go in the summer in the earliest.

[reporter asks: With Twente you can go for titles, with Everton that´ll be a bit harder?]

"Yes sure, but it´s still the Premier League and Everton always plays for the European spots. And as I said, nice club".

[about the transfer price, 10 mil euro]

"Yes, but I didn´t set that, that´s between the two clubs. I don´t feel pressure because of that price tag. But I´m proud that I have that kind of price tag set on me".

[Reporter asks what Moyes expects of him]

"I haven´t spoken to the trainer yet, but I hope to play".

[about the purchase of his horse: ´they like jumping horses in England´]

"Yeah, maybe I´ll buy a new one there!"

I hadn't heard any whisper of this one beforehand (had anyone else?) which on the one hand makes me think; (a) the press know rock all; (b) how clever of EFC to keep it all quiet.

However it also makes me wonder: why bother to release it now before it is all signed and sealed? Some foul cretan could come in a try and hijack the deal (didn't the Rs once do that with Sissoku?)

There are two ways of translating the Dutch word for bouncer:

1st: Ham and eggs breakfast;
2nd: bouncer
Let's hope he's not the 1st....

OK. So you have all had your fun with the horsey comments. Let's stop it now as he is now one of OURS. I don't know about the other people who are writing about Leroy Fer but in my family we show respect for each other.

Please don't piss him of before he even plays for us. Someone reading this will probably say,"If you cant take a joke...", but the large number of horsey comments are IMO no joke.

So to summarise Heitinga's praise, he's a Grand interNational player?

Carl Peters, my first reaction was, "Has the board... could the board... would the board...?" Let's hope so. What a day.

Dan Walker, I wouldn't say it's negativity. Rather, a sign of how deliriously devoid of hope we all were. All puns aside, I think most people here are actually extremely excited.

Did anyone else see a little bit of Manny Fernades in those youtube highlights? I think Fellaini and Fer would be okay together in CM.

Leroy! Leroy! Leroy!

He looks and sounds like the player we have been looking for. If only we got him in a bit earlier for the Southampton game so someone would have at least attempted a tackle rather than having to watch Neville skipping after the Southampton players.

John Ford

Well chuffed and we've paid a fair bit of bunce too. Clearly this lad is for 'now' and not some future hopeful. I disagree Chris M we've needed a replacement for Neville for some time. Also we have a couple of apparent crocks in midfield so I'm well pleased with the thinking.
Rob Rutherford

Was really disappointed we hadn't resurrected the Odjidja-Ofoe deal so this has explained that one.

He can replace Neville in CM who is a good captain but should really be put out to stud. He says he is upset to have missed Cheltenham the other week.

Had a look round Goodison and he likes the ground as its like our team – Good; Soft in places...

Let's face it, the last marquee signing we made was the one in the Park End car park for pre-match hospitality.

If he's as good as YouTube says he is (and when was the last time you saw a crap highlights video?! I could make a 20-second clip of Vellios that made him look good) then we will win the race for Europe at a canter.

I'm not sure a ball winning midfielder is what we need. What we need is goals in midfield. Mirallas is a crock. Jelavic has lost his way. Pienaar and Osman only score a 4 or 5 a season. Gibson and Neville are realistically only going to get 2 or 3 goals a season. We rely too heavily on Fellaini and Baines getting goals.

I can understand Moyes bringing in Fer because Phil Neville is 35 and will need replacing soon but I still think goals should be the main priority.

Nick Entwistle

Should be a good signing for us if he comes. Hopefully no more defenders in centre mid.

As for the money, I read it was spread over several years, so there is probably a few million downpayment now, with additional funds to come from future seasons TV money.

Chris Morris
222 Posted 28/01/2013 at 17:50:12
John Ford,

I'm not disputing the need for a Neville replacement or someone to play while Gibson and Mirallas fight for the physios's attention! But Tim Howard is sadly done. He's not commanding and is getting by with a top drawer save every few matches. I just think that we need to shut out goals first and foremost. Maybe this guy who's a Centre Midfield player can help that, but we really need a new GK.

As for those people amazed by what they see on YouTube, be careful because we've fallen for that before. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Mirallas and Drenthe have more minutes on YouTube than they do on the pitch in Everton shirt.

Rob Rutherford

We have been crying out for a CM who can run past people for years. How many times do we struggle to break poor teams down cos our passing is sideways?

Lets give the lad a chance. Don't send him to the glue factory yet. I remember how many fans were slagging off Fellaini away at Hull when we first bought him, and Baines wasn't a world beater straight off. This guy could be just what we need.

Chris Morris

Nick 745,

We may have cover at CB but who would you trust? Heitinga has forgotten how to play football, Distin makes mistakes but usually makes amends due to his pace, Duffy is unseen and Jagielka has resorted to hoofing it more often.

Tim Howard is a good GK, I'm not stupid enough to dispute that, but we need someone better than good.

Who will score goals at Everton?

20+
I don't think we have any player who can get near 20 goals a season.

15-20
I also doubt we have anyone who is gonna get over 15 goals.

10-15
I'd place Fellaini (9) and Jelavic (7) in this bracket.

5-10
Osman (5), Pienaar (5), Anichebe (5), Baines (4), Mirallas (4) and maybe Naismith (3) will fall in this bracket.

0-5
You get a couple of goals from the defenders Jagielka (1), Coleman (1) and Distin (1).

0
And so far Gibson (0), Neville (0) and Hitzleperger (0) have nothing.

This transfer is interesting for what it potentially tells us. We had the stories by The Times journalists stating that Moyes had asked for an advance on next season's TV money so he could have a crack at getting into the top 4. Then we had Stubbs interview on Talk Sport saying that Moyes signing a new contract was dependent on the club giving him some financial backing. If we don't sell anyone this window then is Moyes going to sign a new contract or does he want some more players. Interesting to see what develops.

Looks like a good signing for defensive midfield. Seeing as Moyes's Everton work better and seem like a more balanced and solid team when we have two good defensive midfielders in the team (Gibson and Fellaini), I think this position is the most important to strengthen.

I hope Moyes goes out and gets Capoue now. These two look similar in the way they play (strong and a good engine); at least we won't ever have to see Neville or even Heitinga in midfield again.

The horse story sounds like hyped up to me. When you buy a horse you keep it is a stable somewhere, not in your back garden, unless of course you own a farm or an estate of some kind. Sounds like the sort of story where the tabloids take a coronel of truth and make up the rest. It never fails to amuse me when reading a red top where the article disproves their own headline. Welcome to the Blues Leroy!

Great post, enjoyed reading your initial comments from the previous article. Lets hope your early enthusiasm is reflected in his performances for the Blues. I've believed for some time that we've needed a player of this type if we are to make the next step. He looks a great prospect. The possibility of him playing alongside Gibson when fit is something I'm really looking forward to. That partnership could be formidable and with Fellaini in full flow I suspect there won't be many clubs too eager to play us. We'll at long last have a real physical presence about us, roll on the derby.

I am shocked we have done this. Could this be a Moyes master stroke à la Fellaini, Pienaar or Arteta or a case of the Bily's?

But the main reason I am surprised is the position we've brought reinforcements for. We desperately need a striker. You might challenge that given we've got Naismith, Jelavic, Anichebe, Mirallas and Vellios. But due to injury, inexperience or not being able to hit the proverbial barn door, we don't actually have an in form striker at the club.

So, as many have mentioned, this enforcer box to box player is likely to be a replacement for our other midfielder from the lowlands. But, if it's the difference between Moyes staying or going (again much like I suspect Fellaini himself was back in 2008) then I will take it. But he will be about the 5th most expensive player we've signed so he better be up to it!

I'll breath that sigh of relief with the rest of the Everton Fans on this page when he's put pen to paper! Why The board agree to announce the clubs agreement before he signs on the dotted line makes no sense at all! Especially after all that's happened in the past! If You Know Your History Bill!

Ultimately I just hope he's better than the other players Moyes has purchased recently. Moyes has really been off his game in the transfer market recently.

Think about it...

Nikica Jelavic (Looked good to begin with but now clearly couldn't score in a brothel. Is he Premier League quality???).

Matthew Kennedy (He's 18 now but nowhere near the first team).

Bryan Oviedo (A bloody expensive substitute nowhere near a starting place).

Steven Naismith (A free transfer but lets be honest who would pay money for him??).

Thomas Hitzlsperger (Another free transfer 5 years past his best).

Kevin Mirallas (An injury prone crock).

Darron Gibson (An injury prone crock).

And the less said about Magaye Gueye, Jermaine Beckford and Diniyar Bilyaletdinov the better.

In fact, not counting Steven Pienaar (Because Moyes knew what he was getting there) you would have to go back to 2009 and Sylvain Distin for the last time Moyes got a really good player and value for money.

Dick – got to question some of that:

Beckford – FREE, scores 10 in a season, sold for £4 million

Oviedo – given that we're in the top 6 clubs in the Premier League, is £3 million really that expensive for a substitute?

Naismith, Hitz – both FREE, if you can't go shopping in Harrods then you get down to Tesco's. I'll go with Gueye for a similar argument.

Jelavic – £5 million and I suspect his purchase was the difference between finishing where we did instead of about 3 places lower and without him we wouldn't have got to Wembley. Disappointed about this season but he kind of paid for himself with what he did last season.

Kennedy?? – behave

Bily – started well and had a dreadful second season. He cost a lot so you can definitely have that one!

But have you chosen to forget Vellios or Coleman or Johnny (Player of the Season) ?

Dick Brody
291 Posted 28/01/2013 at 22:12:08
Admittedly I forgot Seamus Coleman but he's kinda an injury prone player himself. But I will grant you probably a good purchase. Not sure on Heitinga. A mixed bag.

My Argument was that recent signing have lack both quality and value for money.

So yeah Beckford worked out value for money but he lack quality.

Naismith and Hitz probably are value for money but both lack quality.

Oviedo might well have the quality but for his brief appearances so far he lacks value for money so far.

Likeswise Mirallas and Gibson both look like quality players but again they both lack value for money because they are injury prone crocks.

In the past — with players like Tim Cahill, Mikel Arteta, Joleon Lescott, Phil Neville, Leighton Baines and Steven Pienaar — Moyes has found the highest quality and superb value for money.

I would argue he has not found that since Distin and possibly Heitinga but I'm not sure on him to be honest.

To be fair we didn't sign a senior player involving a fee for what 2.5 years? So can you expect a top player for fresh air?
Niall Hussey
294 Posted 28/01/2013 at 22:29:46
Looking at that stat report on him posted earlier: he's been subbed 9 times out of 35 starts for Twente. Not a good sign if he's supposed to be an adaptable box to box midfielder capable of playing different tactical roles, eh?

11 goals from 35 starts & 4 sub appearances is phenomenal for a midfielder, though. Just seems odd. Any opinions?

By "senior player" Ian 870, I take it you are excluding Mirallas, Pienaar and Jelavic from the last 12 months for some reason? That's nearly 20 million quid there.

I'm not even including Gibbo because he "only" cost £500k which doesn't normally get you a bag a chips and the Sunday paper these days. In our case we got a top drawer midfielder (legs sold separately).

I have absolutely loved this post. Cheered me up no end as I broke my ankle last Friday and missed the trip to Bolton.

Just hope I can sit here recovering and read he has passed his medical and agreed personal terms tomorrow, see the confirmation on the OS then I'll feel even better. He will then be a signing and didn't think we were getting any never mind one for money.

Aidan — I am referring from September 2009 to January 2012. Yes, we signed some players since, but that period was too long with Moyes not selling and Bill not giving.

I think criticising the lad for buying a horse for his girlfriend is a bit harsh, perhaps he thought her gaff would be the ideal place for a horse, based on his own experience of getting his oats there!

Doesn't have to be as long as he can play great football and stay fit, eh?

Aidan, I know what Ian is getting at there.

August 2009 - we sign Distin, Bily and Johnny with the Lescott cash

January 2012 - we sign the players you refer to

During the 2 yrs 4 months between those months, I am fairly sure the players we purchased were as follows:

Beckford - FREE - 2010
Gueye - £1 million - 2010?
Velios - I cannot remember the amount or the date but it was buttons
The Straq - fairly sure this was a FREE?

The players you refer to were basically funded by a combination of the Arteta, Rodwell and Bily money.

If I had a horse, I'd call it Blue Rum. Or possibly Houyhnhnm – after the race of super-intelligent horses in Gullivers Travels by Swift. I can't have one, though - I live in a flat.

That's not a horse! That's a shaggy little pony! Of course you can get one of those in a flat, no problem.

Some horses are good at football, others simply aren't interested. In the next clip, Horse A is really going for it big time, while Horse B is clearly thinking (at 00.25) "WTF?"...

Pissing myself here reading this thread, I doubt any other team has fans

1. As funny as us (Horse Jokes)
2. As negative as us (where did we get that money from then... who gives a shit?)
3. As positive as us (4th no probs now lads)
4. As paranoid as us (this deal is going to get scuppered, the kid is going to Jail?? Redshit or Toon are going sign him. Kenwright wants that??)

Evertonians, aren't we?

He looks a thoroughbred on YouTube, but the wonders of editing etc.

Don't want to put the cart before the horse, but I'm slightly more hopeful about the top four now.

Van Nistelcheat was a Dutch fella with a horse face, and he worked out alright.

Dick, mate, you certainly are living up to your name, you sour old boot. Sure Mirallas has had a recurrence of the same injury 3 times in a row. Does that make him an injury-prone crock as you put it? No, in short.

He has no previous sustained injury record so let's calm down a bit antsy pants and enjoy the new signing shall we?

I'm still a bit anxious that the OS gave the info out before Fer had even got to the UK. I can imagine the scene.....Manchester Airport...Fer is met by a shifty looking spiv...

"'Ello, Leroy, me old mate, I'm Davey Moyes, but me mates call me 'Awwy. 'Ere, give your 'orse to that nice Mr Leahy, he don't know much abaht 'orses but Every Little Helps, eh? He'll look arfter it. Nah... come on, it's a long drive to White Ha...er, Goodison Park."

Moments later, Bill's car screeches to a halt... "Davey, I honestly don't know how ALL four tyres on my car went flat... look, we're only a bit late, I'm sure Leroy's waiting somewhere. I used to go in the Boys Pen yer know..."

Not that we ever have everyone fit but:

Howard
Coleman Jagielka Distin Baines
Mirallas Gibson Fer Pienaar
Jelavic (or Anichebe?) Fellaini

Bench: Mucha, Heitinga, Osman, Neville, Oviedo, Barkley, Anichebe

Now that is a strong matchday squad. If only Gibbo and Kevin could get their hamstrings in order!

David Owens
320 Posted 29/01/2013 at 08:20:58
Yet another shrewd signing from David Moyes; Fer ticks many of the boxes: young, strong, box-to-box player who can score goals.

Midfield was definitely the priority area to strengthen. With Gibson's fitness a big question mark, we loose the Fellaini goal threat if he has to drop back to support Ossie.

Ossie is great on the ball just outside their box, but has a habit of loosing the ball in our half at critical times.

Next priority is another defender, unless Heitinga comes on strong in the second half of the season, which he has done in each of the last three years.

Hang fire.

He has an upcoming court case for smuggling horsemeat from France into the UK in the back of a Nissan Micra.

So still time for it all to implode, cue the Moyes statement, "I'm happy with what I've got"

In shock at the board spending money of any sort. Seen the youtube, looks like he might do well in the Premier League and really Phil Neville needs to be put out to grass. I for one will be backing this thoroughbred at 10/1 (will come in quarter past four). No doubt he will lose the race but be promoted for being attacked by the other horses with champagne, sandwich and pork pies (the stewards said he was hampered).

QPR manager Harry Redknapp could barely hide his dismay when asked about Everton's new signing today.

"I've been scouting Moyes for years now. Gotta lot of good intel off the boy over the years, I can tell you. When I heard he was knocking about Cheltenham recently, well, I just had to look around myself. He slipped me, to be honest, so I nipped into the Racecourse to have a quiet flutter on the old Gee-Gees. Next thing I know, he's signed this Dutch fella! Dunno how I'm going to play this one, lads, his first name not being Kyle."

Even Redknapp gave a rueful snicker when asked, "That must explain the long face then, 'Arry?"

Eugene #843 - brilliant!

Noel #893 - well said and couldn't agree more because TW definitely has the full range of Mighty Blues. Far better than being a deluded, sycophantic kopite (but they do have their uses - listening to their after-match phone-ins is often pure joy. Mind you, it will be difficult to top some of the whining after the Oldham match.)

Kevin Jones

Wooow lads, let's pull the reins in a here, he hasn't signed yet. And he's already been saddled with the New Viera label. He'll need time to get up and running but once he comes out the stalls and gets the bit between his teeth, he should be a favourite to those in the Paddock. No doubt Moyes will whip him into shape and tell him not to stirrup any trouble, and definitely no hoof ball.

Went through most of these, but got tired of the horsey references. It's like watching Homes Under the Hammer with the stupid fucking musical puns. Check it out but keep a bucket handy!!! The facts from my point of view are:-

Never heard of the bloke but looks good on YouTube.

10 goals in 29 game for a box-to-box player is good.

Is the deal complete?

Will he revitalise the team, which in the PM looks a bit jaded.

Couldn't care less where the money has come from. Got enough bother balancing my own finances.

We are carrying players who are plainly NOT PL standard. If anyone can give me good reason why we are providing living expenses, ie, wages and a laughable lifestyle, to people like Naismith and Gueye (and I could go on if I could be bothered). Answers on a postcard...

But PLEASE DON'T PUT THEM ON THE PITCH BECAUSE ITS NOT FUNNY!!! I watched the team that won the Cup Winners Cup and comparisons are embarrassing.

ps: I'm not a total pessimist but I'd love to see us get top 4 playing like we did in the first ten games.
