Heitinga vows to come back stronger after 'worst ever game' for Everton

The Netherlands international was given a torrid time in the 3-3 draw with Aston Villa on Saturday and, after being booed by his own support, took to Twitter to repent.

"Played worst game ever in the shirt of Everton. Let teammates and fans down but they never let me down. Will work hard to come back strong," he wrote on Twitter.

Talk is cheap, and please prove what you said in Old Trafford next week, Johnny ~~

He hasn't had a good game this entire season. Certainly do not want to see him at Old Trafford.

Good for him to publicly acknowledge - I don't like boos from crowd against our own players

Feel sorry for Heitinga as I've always rated him as a defender but we need to see these words in action. Yesterday was woeful and we can't sustain more games like Saturday.

I am behind you Johnny. Just as I am behind Jelavic. I believe you will both come good and will continue to support the whole squad who on the whole have been terrific this season. Keep it up lads.

Just watched Newcastle last night and it made me wonder what our scouts are doing.
Sissoko was bought for 1.8 mill and looked big, strong and fast.
He made yards up on Cole and showed great strength and accuracy.

Why don't we find players like that.

The other thing was the fact that Newcastle had them all signed up quickly leaving time for them to find alternatives if any were missed.
It just illustrated the total ineptitude of our transfer dealings.

Im afraid JH has had a few poor games this season and he was subbed at halftime in one game.
Its not a coincidence that NO ONE else has tried to sign him.
Lack of pace is incurable.

With Jelavic, it's a matter of timing, luck, opportunity and confidence. How does Heitinga bulk up, gain height, spring and speed at his age? I don't think you can compare the two players to be honest.

Stones for 3m playing week in week out before he came here why can't he be put straight in the team in a position we can't fill so that we don't need to utilise Heitenga in a position he can no longer play.

Just on a side note, anyone know of any free agents worth going for for 6 months?
What about Reo Coker till the end of the season?

Good point, Trevor.

As for Heitinga, the thought of him up against Van Persie makes me want to suck my thumb under the blanket and occasionally peek through my fingers.

I hope he gets dropped for a very, very, very, very long time. The guy has been the cause of so many goals this season it's untrue.

The oil tanker (not for his size) has run a ground. For the love god, don't let him on the pitch again. Johny liability.

Feel a bit sorry for the lad tbh. He was our player of the season last year and did an excellent job when he got a run of games. This season, he gets benched and is told he's not in the first team. He's obviously low on confidence after losing his place and so not on top form.

Probably would have been best to cash in on him last summer or this January and revinvest the cash elsewhere - is Duffy ever going to get another game in an Everton shirt? Now we're in a shit position with a player who's not 100% motivated and probably wants away. He knows that as soon as Coleman or Hibbo comes back he'll be on the bench again - no matter how good he plays, given what happened at that start of this season.

Denis...Who wants him ??
I have not read of any club being interested in him either before or after he signed for us.
We were lucky to be able to offload Bily and for that matter Yakubu, Yobo, Beckford and Vaughan.
We got really good money for Rodwell too !!

We need to hang onto the first eleven we have and strengthen the bench not fill it with inadequate reserves.
Oviedo looks OK so far but he has not been really tested yet.

Heitinga is not just suffering from lack of confidence, he had plenty when he was talking about leaving us !!
He is too slow and not strong enough in his position....period !

Trevor, how do you know no one wants him? There have been press rumours about Galatassaray and Ajax beinn interested - have no idea if these were true or not. However, I would have thought we would have been able to shift our player of the season and dutch international last summer. May have not needed to then given the rodwell money. Who knows.

Either way, we're in a shit situation now as he probably wants out and will likely end up leaving in the summer for f'all, when he'll only have one year left on his contract. Moyes would presumably have known at the start of the season that he only wanted him as back up so maybe should have thought about offloading him then, when his stock was stil high.

He was our player of the season last year ffs so not sure how you can say he's crap - short memory or what! He is unhappy and hence low on confidence and hence isn't playing well. This situation is unlikely to change between now and May, so is jsut shit.

I don't feel it's just lack of confidence causing JH's problem. I've seen him back out of a few 50/50's and a few tackles...and that for me is inforgiveable as it smacks of lack of interest and desire. We can't afford either!

Brian – probably the thought of getting sent off if he does go in for the tackle. We all love a good full-blooded tackle but, as shown this season, they seem to be clamping down big time.

Trevor 379, he has played one game. Jelavic when he first came did exactly the same, so did Ba and Cisse.

New players tend to do well until defenders get wise to their style of play and then you find that they are not as effective... unless you are absolute class like Rooney and Van Persie.

Just because one team looks to have signed a decent player, doesn't mean our scouting system is no good. People are suggesting that it was our fault we didn't get Holtby... do you honestly think that once Spurs got involved that we had a chance of signing him? Champions League contenders and lots more wages... against an outside chance of Europa League and less money? Not a chance.

I love the calls for the immediate insertion of an 18-year-old that most hadn't even heard of and had basically been with us for 3 days... brilliant. (It would have been nice to see him on the bench though.)
