A monument commemorating the 96 fans who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster 24 years ago today has been unveiled in Liverpool as the City once again comes together as one in shared remembrance.

Cast in bronze, the seven-foot tall structure was commissioned by the Hillsborough Justice Campaign and was revealed yesterday next to St John's Gardens alongside a special clock, made by timepiece creator John Clifton, to be installed at the town hall.

Among the carvings on the circular monument is an Everton crest, an acknowledgement of the support Liverpool FC has received from Everton FC and its fans, not only in the immediate aftermath of the tragedy but in the years since as the victims' families have fought to reveal the truth about what happened that day in 1989.
