Liverpool vs Everton

The Anfield derby. Much like our record at Old Trafford, there aren't many more ways to describe how abysmal our recent of results has been at the ground that was once our home.

Every air-breathing Blue knows it's been over 13 years since we won there and that, just like at the afore-mentioned Theatre of Broken Blue Dreams, Stamford Bridge, Highbury or the Emirates Stadium, David Moyes has yet to oversee a victory on Liverpool's home turf.

Where Joe Royle had the Indian Sign over the Reds, Moyes has overseen the apparent growth of a worrying psychosis where derby games are concerned that has become a self-perpetuating vortex of doubt and anxiety when it comes to playing our neighbours, regardless of what the form book or the League Table say.

The remedy? A victory at Anfield. It's that simple.

As he sets out to break that hoodoo — some are billing it as his last chance given the possibbility of him leaving Goodison Park this summer — Moyes could have a virtually fit squad and, unlike the embarrassment Blues fans were subjected to last year, no cup distractions to justify a weakened line-up.

Phil Neville is ruled out through injury and Darron Gibson once again has "a chance" of being involved as he battles his thigh problem, but Everton will otherwise be at full strength.

In terms of a starting XI, it's likely to be similar in shape to the team that performed so limply at Sunderland two weeks ago, with Victor Anichebe preferred to Nikica Jelavic up front. Phil Jagielka missed the defeat at the Stadium of Light with the reopening of his ankle wound but is expected to play this weekend.

It's in midfield where Moyes has decisions to make depending on whether Gibson is passed fit and how adventurous the manager feels. Marouane Fellaini has performed well in his more natural defensive midfield role alongside Leon Osman and Moyes may feel comfortable persisting with that pairing if Gibson doesn't make it, while deploying Ross Barkley behind the striker as he did at Arsenal. Should Gibson play, it's probably a toss-up between Fellaini and Osman over who plays in the more advanced role.

In the larger scheme of Everton's record against Liverpool, particularly at Mordor, and their European aspirations (Tottenham are just three points away, while Chelsea have to play at Manchester United so the European race is not over), a win is the only result that would be good enough.

A draw — essentially the avoidance of defeat — is never a bad result from a local derby and a point would virtually assure the Blues of finishing above the Reds for a second successive season but that shouldn't be the goal from the outset.

Can we just go out and bloody win this one for a change?

That prick Gerrard bleating that finishing above us means nothing. You wouldn't think it if you have sneaked in on their little threads online over the past three months: alls they have talked about is 'fucking the bitters up from finishing fourth'.

The man's a prick and cannot handle how low they have fallen. Keep kidding yourself, you tit, and let's hope Moyes starts showing them the respect they deserve tomorrow — the same respect they show us: none.

Paul Gladwell

And if your manager had spent £50m this season then it should mean something to finish above a club that spends virtually nothing, otherwise it shows how shit you have done yourselves.

Yes, we can bloody win, but as a betting man I won't be risking a cent on our doing so!

Moyes will have frightened our lads to death by dwelling on the RS strengths!

I expect a loud crowd at Anfield will scare the crap out of the team and we will be 1-0 down within 5 mins from a penalty by Gerrard.

Then "miraculous" comeback for a 1-1 draw – Jags header.

While our fans turn up full of defiance and burning with passion, Moyes will have all the stats and graphs out telling the players what to be frightened of – tremendous manager.

Despite having a poor season the RS have been looking handy recently. Think whoever plays anchor role will have to have a good game picking up coutinho and in order to win bic Vic will have to have one of his best games of the season as I suspect he will get isolated for large periods. Hope Barkley starts behind anichebe.

Just a note, Brenda has not beaten Moyes as a manager. Just thought I'd put some positivity out there.
Tony J Williams
9 Posted 04/05/2013 at 08:19:57
Damn you Kevin, don't you know that positivity isn't allowed. You are supposed to take a fact that Moyes studies other teams strengths and weaknesses to the nth degree and suggest this is a weakness in him, especially as it completely goes against the "tactically inept" dopes ideals.

I cannot express enough as to how much I hate the derby, not just the Moyes era ones, but most of my life. They certainly have the hoodoo against us.

Steve Guy
10 Posted 04/05/2013 at 08:24:16
So Stevie Me Laa isn't bothered about finishing above us? Just watch him a) if they score and b) if they win. This match is still one if his barometers for success. Just remember earlier this season. Altogether now "he ran 80 Yards, he ran 80 yards, Stevie Gerrard, he ran 80 yards". The tool.

Moyes has never won at Anfield, and never will while he's managing our club. The same predictable crap & negativity today and a routine defeat or griity draw. Can't wait until the prick leaves our club.
Kev Prytherch
13 Posted 04/05/2013 at 08:37:37
Tony. Moyes's tactical ineptness isn't necessarily his ability to set a team up, they're often prepared well. It's his inability to make either positive or tactical changes once a game is underway.
Brian Waring
14 Posted 04/05/2013 at 09:08:58
That's the thing Kev, when things aren't working out a top manager will change tactics etc, Moyes just stands there like a tit.

Also Paul, not being funny mate, but we're just as bad as the redshite fans on the forums — I'm sure there was even a thread on here about us finishing above them.

Trevor Lynes
15 Posted 04/05/2013 at 09:19:32
The odds are stacked against us even though Suarez is missing. The squad strengths are unbalanced and I can see DM going out to stop them playing rather than attacking all out. If we take an early lead then it will be a war of attrition!! I would rather us score late on after us nullifying their attack.

Let's face it, they are in top form and destroyed Newcastle away from home. I have yet to see us destroy anyone in a Premier League match home or away.

Brian...how do you stand like a tit?? Must be a boob job eh?

Mark Tanton

I hope not to see Osman starting tomorrow, he is too lightweight and I would rather see Barkley Gibson and Fellaini in there. I'd also play Jelavic ahead of Anichebe who proved against Arsenal that his temperament is still questionable.

Richard Dodd
18 Posted 04/05/2013 at 09:56:37
As you might expect, I am totally positive (optimistic) about today's result. I suspect Davey will have concentrated on the RS weaknesses rather than strengths and will put a side out to exploit them.

Teamwise, I think calls to omit Ossie are ridiculous. He has played in so many of these games and his experience will be priceless. All-in-all, he's now made over a hundred more appearances in an Everton shirt than Alan Ball did but is still disparaged in these columns. Those who call for the inclusion of the likes of Barkley are the very same people who will be slagging him off in a couple of years (see also treatment of temporary local heroes Hibbo and Rodwell).

I do think this is a MASSIVE day for Davey, though: If we do well, the fans will be screaming for BK to tie up ANY deal to keep him. A whopping defeat and the call for change will become intolerable... and he'll be off.

Moyes needs to tell the lads, "Look. these lot are shite, buck tooth is not involved tomorrow, the big gypo Carroll is playing for West Ham and Gerrard is slow as a snail! Get at these and put a few past them!" Gee them up from the off and have a go just for once.
Kevin Tully

Gerrard has said they will not lose tomorrow, because it is Carragher's last Derby.

No excuses, we have a full squad, they are without their best player, and we are in decent form.

Looking at Gerarrd's face when he scored a hat-trick against us last season still haunts me.

This isn't about tactics, how big your squad is, or how well you prepare. This is about motivation, belief, and how much you want to win.

If we want it more and believe, we will win, we have the players.

31 Posted 04/05/2013 at 12:04:00
Ref is Michael Oliver, which is about the best we could hope for in this game. He averages less than three yellows per game this season plus only one red, which was the Villa player against us at the start of the season.

Although he is still very young by prem ref standards (28), he never seems intimidated by big name idiots trying to influence him. It would be nice to get that female assistant, Sian Massey I think, as not only is she very good, but might, just might, reduce the amount of whining and screaming from the RS, at least in one half of the pitch.

Only downside for Mr Oliver is that it was he who failed to award the pen against Arteta at Goodison in the draw with Arsenal.

Ross Edwards
32 Posted 04/05/2013 at 12:35:13
4-0 tomorrow, yep! Jela to score a hat-trick, then Naismith will come on and score from 25 yards. Gerrard will get sent off and Sturridge will dive numerous times but his claims will be turned down by Oliver.

Then, after the game, FSG will pull their shares leaving the RS in financial meltdown, and in administration. The FA decide to be harsh and deduct 30 points which would relegate them.

Then, even better, Suarez is deported after failing to pay up his tax, and then by biting and spitting on the taxman. Gerrard signs for Tranmere and Brenda becomes the new manager of Vauxhall Motors.

Moyes becomes a hero and stays for 5 more years before winning the treble with Barca with a winning goal in the CL final by 37-year-old Leon Osman, with 42-year-old Phil Neville providing the pass.
Oh, please let this happen. COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No chance tomorrow... simply because that gutless excuse for manager will not try to win. He has never tried to win there and he never will. I think last season's debacle confirms that.

Moyes will set his team up for a draw (if we're lucky)... Hopefully he will then leave at the end of the season.

Nelly, #138 that the same "guttless excuse for a manager" as you put it is is the same guy has us on par with a team(s) that has outspent us by £100s of millions.... He deserves a just a little bit of respect, don't you think?
James Stewart
35 Posted 04/05/2013 at 13:05:03
As much as I can't stand the guy, Gerrard does have a point. The difference between 6th and 7th is not much. Neither gives a European spot so it's hardly something to celebrate. However it's about time we did that lot on their own patch and we still have 5th to play for so in theory that should give us the edge. I have a horrible suspicion we will choke as usual in big games under the Sky cameras.

Nothing unites us Blues more than are hate of the RS. I remember years ago my mates mate was doing some security work at Anfield when Rooney broke into our team. Gerrard was going around saying he was going to do him or one of the Everton players. It was the Anfield derby where he put the boot into Naismith.

If you look at the aftermath of the tackle Rooney passed Gerrard in the melee and he flinched his shoulder to catch Rooney. Rooney either didn't notice or chose not to react but that just confirmed what scum Gerrard is. He wasn't even sent off!

No doubt we will all wake up feeling robbed on Monday morning.

Brian Hill

Stuart Mitchell, thanks for that.

We have never lost a game with Mr Oliver officiating. We have won both away games with him in charge, scoring five to one, and in both games the home team has had a player sent off.

For every negative (Clattenburg), there is a positive. I hope.......

Or Brian, he will even things up tomorrow, ie we lose 4-0 and have 2 sent off!

I think we will do ok as it happens - a draw or a win to the Toffees!

Karl Masters
40 Posted 04/05/2013 at 14:10:10
You are correct Kunal. We must win the physical battles and earn the right to play. We can do it, but will we? That's the question! They won't be expecting us to be at it from the off, probably that will be their tactic as well, but it's vital we don't hand them the initiative.

42 Posted 04/05/2013 at 14:24:45
Too much emphasis on Moyes not winning at Anfield, Harry C only won two, Kendall the same I think and Harvey just the one; Joe never won one but we never lost a derby under him. So it's never been easy even when the finances have been more equal. It's his home form in derbies that I'm concerned about, we should be doing a lot better at Goodison.
Nick Entwistle

For anyone who thinks penalties even themselves out over the course of a season take a look at the table for penalties awarded.

http://www.football-lineups.com/tourn/FA_Premier_League_2012-2013/Stats/Penalties/

No surprise to see us near the bottom. The amount of times we have failed to get stonewall spot kicks even at Goodison is a disgrace.

Two more sets of statistics that I wouldn't mind seeing:

1. Which teams have had most Premier League games shown live, obviously increasing their coffers by £500k a time (Sky and ESPN)?

2. How much does each of the Premier League teams gets from the following... kits sponsor and name on shirt sponsors (just to see where we stand with our income on these)?

You could also see how teams perform against relative spend per season to see which teams (probably us) over perform for their nett player spend.

Nelly Verdonghan

Steven #141....the same guy who has won ABSOLUTELY ZILCH in 11 yrs whilst teams who are not on a par (as you put it) with us have won trophies....Portsmouth who have just been relegated to the 4th tier of english football have won more than Moyes...Alex McLeish has won more than Moyes...so do you consider him a GREAT manager ??

The same guy who has NEVER won at Anfield, Old Trafford, The Emirates & Stamford Bridge in the Premiership whilst others( not on a par with us have !!)....the same guy who has shit himself in every single big game he's ever had as Everton manager...that GUY ??...If you don't believe me look at the games...the results don't lie

I lost what little respect I had left for Moyes last season for two reasons....
1) The derby at Anfield...... 2) the semi final at Wembley...absolutely shit himself and not for the first time

That respect may return when he actually WINS something sadly that won't be with EVERTON I'm afraid...you maybe happy with finishing 'best of the rest' whatever the fuck that is...I would rather he won a trophy...our standards and aspirations for our once great club are obviously a million miles apart

Harold Matthews
47 Posted 04/05/2013 at 15:20:04
Brent, If Moyes sets us up to defend he may omit Gibson who is a very good passer but is slow to close down and pretends to tackle. Fellaini will probably operate there with JH protecting the back four but personally,I would be tempted to use Hibbert rather than JH because of his pace. With their left-footers cutting inside Baines and Distin a fast, aware mid-fielder will be required to close things down before a shot is unleashed.

Kevin Day. I wish you had kept quiet about Brenda never beating Moyes. Stats like that make me ill.

Ok, so you'd prize a single FA cup above a stable top flight position, one in which we challenge for Europe no less.
Well, ok, if that's how you see it - each unto their own.

I am not going tomorrow; I don't like Anfield but I never used to miss this match. Now, after 11 years of watching David Moyes raise the white flag in this fixture, I don't have the stomach for it any more.

I won't go the pub to watch it either, Moyes has taken even that away... I can't stand in their company on derby day knowing we will fold in minutes because the manager has no spine for it. Never mind "knives to gunfights", Moyes isn't that dangerous: knives can do a bit of damage. Poodles fending off Pitbulls — now that's more like it.

1999 Kevin Campbell scored in our last victory at Anfield — since then, we have not even come close to winning under David Moyes and I think that is a shocking stat for an Everton manager in such an important fixture. I will probably have to hide away until Monday again with my phone on silent after the result tomorrow. I will say one thing for DM: he is consistent and you know just what we will get when the Blue jerseys run out at our lovely neighbours' place...

Go on, Davey Boy, shock the world and go for it... Oh and Leave Osman at Finch Farm or we have no chance.

Nelly Verdonghan, You have hit the nail on the head mate. Precisely everything I have been saying recently.

You are spot on with McLeish. People groan when they hear Sparky Hughes or O'Neill being mentioned as manager. O'Neill has won 9 or 10 more trophies than Moyes and took Celtic to the UEFA Cup final.

Did the Moyesists want him? Of course not. One said that "if that was the case, I would not renew my season ticket next season."

Moyes apologists would rather have a manager who has won nothing but you don't want a successful manager who won the League Cup with Leicester TWICE in 3 years and kept them in the top half for 4 successive years. Something that Moyes could only dream of, particularly when Martin O'Neill got Leicester promoted.

There are much better managers that aren't managing that are better than DM, Brian Little, remember him? Won the League Cup with Villa, O'Leary, Champions League Semi with Leeds Utd in 2001. Now a member of managerial abyss.

If even Terry Venables applied for a job now with Moyes as one of the applicants, he would be considered ahead of DM as he has had a lot of success with Barca, England and Spurs, Moyes with zilch to show on his CV of any note.

I guarantee to you Steven, Doddy, Sam Hoare, Entwistle and any other Moyes lovers, in 5 or 6 years time he will be in the managerial dustbin along with Big Ron, O'Leary and others.

Money may have taken over the game, but it is results and trophies that count, and Moyes will be left behind, as when he applies for his next job, his CV will look very bare compared to his competitors.

Steven, you may defend him to your hearts content mate and Carl and others can say this article debunks the tactically inept theory, but at the end of the day this article proves nada.

People comparing his methods to Don Revie. That is utterly laughable, you cannot possibly find many comparisons, maybe in terms of tenure but you can't compare his achievements to Revie's at all. Until he actually wins something with us, linking Moyes with Cloughie and Revie will be a fantasy and a pipe dream. If Clough found out that he was in any way compared to DM, he'd be laughing in his grave.

Clough and Revie are two of the greatest managers in English football history; Moyes is an also-ran who in 5 years will be alongside Little, O'Leary and others in The Forgotten Men of football category.

Nick Entwistle
55 Posted 04/05/2013 at 16:24:37
Ross, everyone you've mentioned are yesterday's people. Scratch that, last millennium's people. Like your ideas on football, are from another era.

You defeat your own argument. The fact that some of the dross you have mentioned have picked up a trophy in the League Cup shows that to win a domestic trophy is not a sign of greatness. In truth, the arguments you would have against Moyes's would still be an entrenched I'm sure if he had won against Chelsea in the cup final.

Of course going by your view of things, anyone who has won the League Cup will therefor have achieved more than any Everton manager in history...

In case you don't realise when pointing out myself and other 'Doddists' is that we form part of the majority and are pro-Moyes. And the reason for that is how he makes us competitive in the league with the absolute minimum of backing.

ps: I brought up the Clough/Revie comparison – but only towards each other. I think you read one sentence and then decide what the rest of a post must entail.

If you're going to mention people opposed to you with nonsense, expect a rebuttle. But I swear MOBs spend more time talking about others opposed to them than their own ideas.

Ideas, views, opinion... not rants and shouts of ME TOO ME TOO!

Hey let's have another Entwistle/Edwards tete-a-tete on this thread shall we as on quite a few others in recent times? I for one am always thrilled when Entwistle ends up posting post-after-post on threads in his small spats that sadly for the rest of us show up on here. On the other hand, however, I believe that Entwistle is very smart, extremely reasonable, hugely admirable with his unflinching ability to see all sides, more than ordinarily courteous, and to cap it all he has a sparkling devastating sharp wit that can leave his adversaries reeling, struggling and struggling to come up with a riposte with a modicum of credibility.

Little light Parbold's finest ought not to start tomorrow, but as night follows day he will. His disappearances in this match are an apt metaphor for our walks across the park in recent times.

On another point, in the event of a Wigan fire-sale that Maloney is half-decent, although there is the irony of having letting him go. I don't want to aim another arrow at the running of our academy, but that might end up being a poor call. And Mcmanman's 7th cousin once removed would be worth snapping up too.

Usual blame everything on Moyes posts, I see. The back passing, shot fluffing, getting sent off players get away scott free again.

One thing that confuses me, is that it will probable be the same team as against Fulham, which was near enough the same team against City, yet if it goes wrong, it is the tactics, not the players. A man doesn't pick up a forward properly, a man mis-hits a shot, Howard lets the ball go through his hands... this won't be picked up on, no it will be Moyes being a shit house.

We all know his tactics are limited, so why do they work against other better teams but not against the shite? .... because the players shit themselves. That semi-final was petering out to a nervy 1-0 with all the reds I was with saying they wouldn't score if they played all night. One almighty screw up by Distin and the rest is history. That isn't tactics.

The further issue we have is that we can only change tactics to as much as the people we have on the bench.

God I feckin hate the derby...

"Moyes is an also-ran who in 5 years will be alongside Little, O'Leary and others in The Forgotten Men of football category." — Ross, you can add to that list Hughes, O'Neill, McLeish, Coyle, Redknapp, Pulis and Pardew.

Ask QPR or Man City fans what their opinion of Hughes is. A gobshite who spent tens of millions at those clubs and is now despised by most of them. Coyle was being proffered as our new manager by some on here until very recently, and now?

Mind you, I'd take Redknapps dog in a heartbeat. He's fucking loaded. Got his own bank account.

Ross (179) I am more often than not in sympathy with the gist of what you say (wow Walcott 20 secs): i.e. there are good reasons to level criticisms at the gaffer. But why say it like this: 'Moyes is an also-ran who in 5 years will be alongside Little, O'Leary and others in The Forgotten Men of football category'?

I'm no Moyes slave but come on mate that's quite frankly potty. Let's keep it real and stay on earth mate. Far be it for me to offer advice (although again, I am on your side for the most part) but tone it down Ross, coz absurdities like 'Moyes is an also-ran' just play into the sweaty palms of leading Moyes chorister Mr. Nick Entwistle and even with his faculties he can make hay with your somewhat over-the-top critiques.

The larger point is that unwittingly and inadvertently Ross Edwards - who becomes say the Arthur Scargill of what Entwistle labels 'MOB' - can be used as an 'all-that's-bad-about-MOB' weapon to discredit critics of the gaffer. Entwistle/Thatcher uses a caricature of Edwards/Scargill to discredit what he perceives to be his position in comments and characterizations as credible as Thatcher's depictions of good old Arthur.

Another derby, another easy win for the RS. Moyes will be happy with a draw which is the main reason why we don't perform. He is unable to think on his feet and won't be able to cope. Hopefully it will be his last derby.

I hope the Blues do something positive tomorrow, with Spurs only drawing at home, we can close the gap. Beat the Hammers at home and thrash Chelski away. Oh the dream.

Tony "Another derby, another easy win for the RS". I didn't know the game had already been played. There are some on TW who not impressed by Moyes but who still post on the pre-match forum with eager anticipation. Enjoy the build up rather than feel shit before, and possibly after, the game!

I fully expect us to bottle it tomorrow, so to draw the sting I've assembled a past XI that would put in a performance at least.

Southall (picks himself, of the 85 vintage. No Rush, no problem)

Pat VDH (should handle himself, and straighten out their mouthy number 8)
Labone (captain - knew the exchange rate of red to blue)
Ratcliffe (goal scoring centre half, keeps sturridge in his back pocket)
A Ball (he's not happy at right back, but agrees to do me a favour after Gary Stevens is dropped after the 86 cup final. Would be man of the match anywhere he played. Downing does the honourable thing and cleans his white boots at half time after owning the right side of the pitch)

Kanchelskis (go rip the arse out of Enrique and we will give you some Casino chips)
Parkinson (excellent derby record)
Carsley (super Lee to you Reina)
Sheedy (deadly set piece, shows the kop that it's 2 nil)

Ferguson (should relish mashing Agger)
Sharp (I want that volley at the kop end next time and in HD)

Manager : Joe Royle

The game is on live at 6:30am over here in Chicago-land, but I have decided to hang on in internet-avoidance agony to watch the replay at 5pm/11pm. I might give in, but I can get hammered at 5. And, in the event of us losing (I don't think we will) it will be only 5 hours not 15 to beddy-byes, ie, less suffering on the day. I can't even leave the house as people around here know my utter devotion to EFC – my license plate is EVERTON so it's pretty obvious – and will come up to me to commiserate or celebrate.

It will be a strange long day.

Looking at the likely line ups tomorrow, in most positions I think we are better, so why do I have a feeling of dread?

Goalkeepers, not much between them, both prone to error and brilliance. TH slightly better for me, lets hope Pepe the clown throws a few in the net tomorrow.

Back four, the only spot where one of them might get in is right back. Is Seamus better than Johnson? Funnily enough, I'm going for the Blue boy.

Wide men, Super Kev and Peanuts are defo better than Henderson and Downing. Well a fully focused on form Peanuts is, lets hope the he turns up tomorrow, not the guy who has turned up for most games the last few months.

Midfield, probably Felli/Gibbo/Ossie up against, Lucas/Coutinho and the anti-Christ.

Gibbo or Lucas, has to be Gibbo.
Felli or the anti-Christ, has to be Felli, although the AC does love playing against us.
Ossie and Coutinho, well who knows. Depends what Ossie turns up.

Up front Big Vic or Daniel it's all about me.

Vic has (mostly) really improved this year. Seems to have more confidence and belief in himself, maybe from playing in his natural position, not as a right winger. Can only hope that Big Dunc has been on at him all week and getting him fired to put in a really aggressive, hard working performance.
Sturridge is the more natural finisher, lets hope he has a mare tomorrow.

We also need all the officials to be honest, fair and consistent.

And probably more than anything, the Manager to approach the game really positively. We have to have a go, believe in ourselves, be brave and be disciplined. We cannot have another game against them where we shit ourselves and bend over for them like we did last time at Anfield or indeed at Wembley.

Please please please lets put this shower away tomorrow.

David

I would not put too much faith in Everton having a better line up as the following was their side in the game at Goodison

Jones
Wisdom
Skrtel
Agger
Enrique
Allen
Gerrard
Sterling
Sahin
Suso
Suarez

Everybody just look at that side for a minute and the names in it and consider that Everton were 2-0 DOWN to that shower of shit after 20 minutes. If Moyes can't win against that team he sure as hell won't win against the team they play Sunday.

Sean, that is a shite line up, on so many levels!

We should have won that game. I'm not having any of that shit we will hear all day tomorrow, that they were robbed. They were not. Sewer rat should have been sent off, as should Sterling. Ref clearly favoured them, but we won't hear that tomorrow.

Lets just put them away.

$30? That's only about 20 quid isn't it, Paul? You're talking fuckin' thousands over here, probably tens of.
Paul Ferry
77 Posted 04/05/2013 at 20:22:22
right now Col with this exchange rate about 18 quid!!!!! You fill out a form, explain what this 'vanity' name is - errr, only the greatest footie club on the planet - hand over the sponds, and it arrives in the mail a few days later! When Everton played over here I drove to all the games and I saw EVERTON license plates from Georgia, California, Iowa, South Dakota FFS, North Carolina, Missouri, Oregon, and, I think. Michigan.

I'm just hoping our own line up will look much better then the one that started at Goodison. Pienaar was suspended and Gibson was injured, so we had a midfield 4 which looked like this :
Naismith Osman Neville Mirallas

We should at least have a much better looking midfield tomorrow, i'm hoping our team sheet will look something like this:
Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Mirallas Fellaini Gibson Pienaar
Barkley
Anichebe

Ok, so this week, you think McLeish is the man…….
(A guy who achieved less than Moyes and had more money)
A week or so ago, you and Barry decided Di Canio was the man.
Not over, but Interesting……. I won’t speak too soon, but, well I hope you aren’t shown to be a fair-weather friend with a short and selective memory.

Based on admiration for Portsmouth’s FA cup, and the use of that “reasoning” to knock Moyes, I said simply asked , “would you really choose a single FA cup over a sold top flight position, knocking on the door of Europe?”
Judging by your support for that post I called to order, it seems reasonable to assume you value what Pompy have over what we have.

In a way, I feel your posts may inadvertently galvanise support for sticking with Moyes.

Ross,

Hughes or O'Neill? First off, what has Hughes exactly acheived in his managerial career? He has done a good job with Blackburn granted, and with Wales to be fair, but basically got QPR relegated, and underacheiving with Man City, and spending god knows how much may I add!

O'Neill, well, as Nick said, is a has been. Not exactly too hard to win that many trophies with Celtic with only one good team challenging you the whole time. Yeah he did well with Leicester and Villa, but in his recent job, was a disaster for Sunderland.

You think Moyes plays hoofball, O'Neill is a hell of a lot worse! Got Villa up by lumping it to Heskey and Carew all the time.

I get you don't like Moyes, and you post a new rant every few days about it. Its fair enough, its your opinion, but at least suggest some decent replacements, not a crap manager and a has been.

And Im not sure if you actually suggested McLeish, but don't even get me started how crap he is, he got sacked by a Championship club recently for god sakes!

Wait for next week folks, when Ross Edwards suggests Steve McClaren, Mike Walker and Mr Blobby as new alternatives for the next Everton manager!

Paul Ferry -

Think the game is 7:30 am central time.

I'm going to the pub at 8 am EST with a blue whose license plate is EFC NSNO. Prob cost him $20 if that.

Thought it was EFC 1878... I was wrong. EFC NSNO

Watching the game on delay – don't do it. I'm forced too often dodging scores until the replay comes on due to having 5 boys and full weekends. It sucks waiting and then knowing while you watch it's already over.

Like your watching and screaming will help the team win....

You're right Jamie and it is 7-30 CT. I might relent and take your advice, although I don't have 5 boys - congrats. Let me guess - Dixie, Alex, Alan, Brian, and Kevin.

Too many derbies JC, I didn't miss a single one from 1977-2001.

I hate them. I really do, even though I'm 3000 miles away now. I get sick to my stomach at 49. I hate to say it, I can't bear the thought of losing - too many times when the skunk shite sneak it - and if I watch live the game will be over at 9-30AM.
I'll try and man up and switch on at 7-30. Have a great time with your mate boozing JC; really hope that you and me are in blue heaven this time tomorrow.

People may wonder why I am so concerned that Bottler Davey just has not got it to get a win at Analfield.

THIS IS WHY-

In 44 AWAY games played against the traditional ‘big four’ Premier League clubs — Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United — under David Moyes, Everton have yet to record a single WIN and have taken just 17 points from 132 on offer.

Moyes’s record at Anfield also makes painful reading for Everton , with no wins, three draws and nine defeats.

1. Here in Oz, my personal number plate is EVERTON 2 and cost over $350.
2. The game is 'live' at 8.30 pm on Fox here in West Australia.
3. I would put road blocks around Analfield with strict instructions not to let Osman get within half mile of the place.
A search of Moyes car in case he tries to smuggle him in.
Finally I want all those blues at the game to know you are not alone. Around the world the rest of us will be hoping, praying, roaring our heads off and dreading the moment, usually round the 61st minute mark when Moyes is called on to make a positive substitution.
We have suffered enough at Mordar, please God let it end now.

Tony, I did these stats a few weeks ago although can`t put my hands on them. I do, however, remember that no manager has `done` them more than twice at Anfield, that includes the only man whose tenure lasted as long as Moyes — Harry Catterick!

Even the man regarded as our greatest gaffer ever had to put up with 0-4 and 0-5 whoppings!
