Everton Under-18s suffered a narrow 1-0 away defeat after they struggled to get going in the first half at Liverpool's academy.

The hosts edged the opening 45 and were handed a penalty which was duly converted on the stroke of half-time.

Midfielder Ryan Ledson led the charge after the break as chances started to fall for the Toffees, despite substitutions resulting in three players under the age of 16 taking to the turf.

Despite continued pressure and openings, Everton were unable to find a way through and even when handed a 92nd-minute penalty, Callum Dyson was unable to take advantage.
