There's a new DVD celebrating the greatness of Alan Ball the little red-headed genius who inspired a generation of Evertonians in the late 1960s. One of those was Dr David France, who talks here to Ronnie Goodlass with some unique memories and perspectives on perhaps the greatest of Everton's post-war players.

This DVD also supports the 'Health Through Sport' Charity set up on Merseyside by Ronny Goodlass. Everybody who watches this DVD will sense just how inspirational Alan Ball must have been and understand what it must have been like in the Goodison Park dressing room during that glorious 1969-70 season when the Blues reigned supreme in English football.“With Ball in our ranks, I would turn up at Goodison with the genuine expectation that our opponents would be out-thought and out-fought.

“While his fiery temperament got him into trouble with referees, he boasted such a refined first touch that he rarely got into trouble with the football.

“I last met with him at Goodison, just before his death. He volunteered a few words about being a Blue: ‘Three special words have had a special place in my soul as well as my heart for the past 40 years — Everton Football Club. I enjoyed my football throughout my career, but people remind me that I played my best games in the famous blue and white. I love being known first and foremost as an Evertonian'.”

The DVD features a selection of Everton greats talking about Alan, including Howard Kendall, Joe Royle and Graeme Sharp. They reminisce about Bally's commitment, determination and world class skills whilst playing in one of the greatest Everton sides of all time. Ron Goodlass, gives a unique insight into the great man, having actually been his 'Boot Boy' as a young player.

Alan Ball himself is featured giving one of the most inspirational After Dinner speeches you will ever see. He was renowned for his qualities as a speaker on the After Dinner circuit. The footage was secured in 2006 when he returned to Liverpool for one of his final visits before his tragic death.

It stands as a testament to his inspirational qualities. Former Everton FC correspondent and Liverpool Echo Sports Editor Ken Rogers said: "Bally inspired a generation of supporters with Everton FC always at the forefront of his thoughts. He loved the fans and never forgot them. When I viewed this DVD, I turned to my right and saw one of my journalistic colleagues in tears. It said everything about Alan and how he touched people with his inspirational thoughts.

"This DVD also supports the 'Health Through Sport' Charity set up on Merseyside by Ronny Goodlass. The charity helps youngsters to develop confidence and gain qualifications.
