Everton advance in Liverpool Senior Cup

A very young Everton XI booked their place in the Liverpool Senior Cup semi-finals with a 2-1 win at Marine AFC on Thursday evening. Calum Dyson's third-minute opener and George Newell's close-range finish gave the Blues a first-half lead the hosts could not surmount.

Kevin Sheedy and Duncan Ferguson named a youthful side featuring many first-year scholars with one eye on Monday's Youth Cup tie at Sheffield United.
