Wilf Dixon, the Everton coach in the Harry Catterick era, has died aged 94.

Wilf was from Sunderland and had his career as an Aldershot footballer curtailed by injury.

After coaching spells at West Brom and Blackpool he replaced Tommy Eggleston as Everton first-team coach in 1967 and was there during the halcyon days of Kendall, Harvey and Ball.

He would later work for Hull City, Spurs and Arsenal.
