Merseyside Police Review, Season 2014-15

, 3 July, 2comments  |  Jump to most recent

Merseyside police have provided a review of policing at Everton games last season. The meeting on Tuesday is reported here by The Blue Union, with news today of seven Everton fans being arrested for disgraceful scenes outside a pub in London back in May.

Merseyside Police confirmed that the behaviour of Evertonians, both home and away was exemplary and no major issues surrounding disorder at any games this season. However, this predated news of Six Everton fans, including a 15-year-old boy, being arrested in connection with an attack outside a pub in north London. Scotland Yard carried out early morning raids at seven addresses across Liverpool, Wirral and Warrington.

A large part of the meeting was taken up discussing Merseyside Police's opposition to 5:30pm Kick Offs for derby games. Lessons have been learnt from last season and the Police are keen to work jointly with the clubs and fan groups to ensure that this season's games pass without incident. Further meetings with the Premier League, Liverpool City Council are planned.

Lille, absolutely put quietly under the carpet – their police were a disgrace it's obvious to see the French just hate us plain and simple.

Glad I’m not a cross-channel lorry driver.

Best fans in this country by an absolute mile. We may be a bunch of miserable bastards at times but for behaviour away from home, including European games, we are the most cheerful, fair, funny fans.
