The prestigious Formby Hall Golf Resort was the venue for this year’s annual Everton in the Community Golf Day which saw 18 teams come together to raise vital funds for the Club’s official charity.

Sponsored by Alpha Business Products, the day saw first team stars Gareth Barry, Steven Naismith and John Stones swinging their clubs alongside Everton Ambassadors Graeme Sharp, Graham Stuart and Ian Snodin at the picturesque surroundings of one of the region’s finest golf courses.

An afternoon of golf in the glorious sunshine was followed by team presentations and a three course dinner as well as a variety of evening entertainment including a Q&A with the Everton Ambassadors and Joe Royle. A raffle and auction including exclusive Everton and signed items also took place with the day’s events raising over £12,500 for the charity.

Speaking ahead of officially tee-ing off the golf day, Toffees midfielder Gareth Barry said, “A lot of us in the squad are keen golfers and we’re always happy to pick up our clubs and show our support for Everton in the Community at this annual event. Hopefully everyone will give generously throughout the day and we’ll be able to raise a significant amount of money to enable the charity to help even more people throughout the region.”

Upon completing the course Blues legend Graeme Sharp echoed Barry’s comments, “It’s been a fantastic day so far in wonderful weather and everyone seems to be having a great time without forgetting whilst we are here, and that is to support Everton in the Community and its ground-breaking programmes.”

Carena Duffy, Fundraising Officer for Everton in the Community, said: “Yet again our annual golf day has been a big success and we’ve raised a lot of money for the charity. I’d like to thank all the staff at Formby Hall who played a massive part in ensuring the day ran smoothly and also a big thank you to everyone who took part. Without their involvement the day would never have been possible.”

Everton in the Community directly engages more than 13,500 participants on an annual basis from all sections of the community across more than 60 pioneering social projects. The charity works to change lives through innovative interventions focusing on health, employment, education, dementia, sport and youth engagement.
