Barkley needs to start playing better for Everton. Then maybe he might stake an England place. (Hardly rocket science). Right now, today, all things considered and just thinking about this season I would rather have Rooney playing for Everton than Barkley. (Although I doubt that Rooney will ever be back at Everton). As for the future, I don't know. Can Barkley really deliver? The clock is ticking and our so-called promising young generation are not getting any younger. Time for them all to start delivering. PS .I don't really care who plays for England... I can take or leave international football.

Rooney developed his early potential, but can the same thing be said of Ross Barkely?
