U18s beat Middlesbrough 2-1

Everton U18s missed out on the Tier One split and start the rest of the season with seven other sides in the Tier Two group, the first visitors being Middlesbrough who went down to a 2-1 defeat at Finch Farm today.

The young Blues opened the scoring on 25 minutes when Jack Kiersey turned home a rebound from close range. Kevin Sheedy's side continued on the front foot into the second period but, despite their dominance, spurned a few half chances to double their advantage.

A second eventually came two minutes from time when winger Daniel Bramall latched on to a long ball and finished with aplomb into the bottom corner. The visitors pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time, but it proved little more than a consolation.

Everton U18s: Pierce, Morris (46' Duke-McKenna), Harrington, Denny, Lees, N Baxter, Bramall, Kiersey, Adedoyin, Scully (66' Virtanen), Moore.
Subs not Used: Jones, Mampala, Gordon.

Sorry, Dave... bit slow with the updates there. Had to root out the teamsheet as well.

I don't recall seeing our leading scorer, Fraser Hornby, getting a game recently... is he injured?

Meanwhile there's a couple who are getting a lot more exposure. This lad Korede Adedoyin, also Miko Virtanen, who was missing (presumed injured) for part of the season. (Maybe I just like their names!)
