A tribute to Rhys tonight

A one-minute applause will be held in the 11th minute of this evening's Europa League playoff first leg against Hadjuk Split, to mark the tenth anniversary of Rhys Jones' murder.

When the clock strikes 10:01, Blues will be encouraged to applaud and pay tribute to the young schoolboy who loved Everton.

Rhys was killed after being caught in the crossfire between two rival gangs on 22 August 2007.

Images of Rhys wearing his Everton shirt will appear on the big screens in the 11th minute — Rhys' age when he was murdered.

Rhys' family have given their blessing to the show of support from Evertonians with members of the family attending the game.

Maybe our number ten, the kid from Crocky, can score for Rhys, and his family tonight?

Can't believe ten years have passed, since that fateful night, although I'm sure for his mum and dad, and brother it must seem like eternity.

Glad that Rhys, has never been forgotten, and hope that this gives his family some happiness, if that is at all possible.

God bless Kid, the picture of you in your Everton kit, always makes me wonder how life can be so very cruel, and is something I ponder when I realise how much you and your family were robbed. Xxx.

Let us not forget another Everton supporting kid who also disappeared 10 years ago (in May) - Madeleine McCann. God bless, wherever you are.

A nice gesture from the best club in the land. Reminds us all of what's really important in life.
May he rest in peace.
