U18s in FA Youth Cup action tonight

Everton U18s host Ipswich Town in the 3rd Round of this season's FA Youth Cup, at Goodison Park tonight, kick-off 7:00 pm.

With some of the regulars in this age group (Hornby, Deeny, Charsley) getting first team debuts in last night's Europa League dead rubber last night, they certainly won't be featuring against the young Tractor Boys, who are near the bottom of U-18 League 2 South, having only won 3 games this season.

Everton U18s are having a good season, sitting second behind Manchester City in U-18 Premier League North.

Supporters will be welcome at Goodison, with entry £3 for adults and £1 for juniors. The game will also be streamed live via the EvertonFC.com website. Official Members, as well as Season Ticket and Lounge members, can watch the game in full via their exclusive members portal.

Eligible supporters will also receive an email with a link to watch the game.

The draw for the 4th Round was made at lunchtime on Friday: the winners of this tie will be at home to either Oxford United or Dagenham and Redbridge.

Does anyone know the age eligibility of this cup?

There were a number of lads who played in Cyprus who obviously won’t feature.

There are others who, if eligible, would like Walsh, Evans, Sambou, Gibson, Foulds.

Think you have to be under 18.

Peter, under 18 on a set date, usually 1st January of the year the competition starts.

The rule for the FA Youth Cup is between 15 and 18 years on 31 August of the current season (so 2017).

The January date is for international games, which is how Pickford was representing England U21s at 23 years old!

Interesting age and date. That rules out Gordon, Denny, Feeney, Hornby, Duke-McKenna, and Collins. I suppose the unused subs could get a look in.

I find it slightly odd that Walsh, Evans, Sambou and several others didn't travel to Cyprus. I know they played Tuesday v Derby County but they could have either been omitted for Euro experience or could have been fresh enough for the bench.

We should beat a very average Ipswich youth team but this tournament we have not progressed in too well recently. I'd like to see a good run in it and wherever possible a strong team played.

Just read on the OS that those players involved in the Europa League match who are eligible will play tonight.

Off the plane for midday and turning out at 7pm. Good effort.

Charlie, Walsh and Sambou were not eligible for Europa League: Walsh is officially still on loan; Sambou hasn't been with us two years.

Apart from Hornby, none of the others played any real amount of time... Okay, travelling can be tiring but the likes of Gordon, Denny, Duke-McKenna and Collins should cope.

We also have Lewis Gibson available from the U23s as he's still 17; I don't think there are any others.

I wonder if the club are giving out the sleeping bags they used for camping out at Goodison the other week? It’s freezing tonight, so,I hope someone gives me dar, one if he goes, maybe even let him take it home to wash it!

Phill @ 7,

Thanks for clearing up the eligibility issues. Its a bit of a minefield this Premier League, Europa League, Youth Cup at times.
