Everton linked with wide men from Red Bull sides

Everton are being mentioned in connection with Hannes Wolf of Red Bull Salzburg and Emil Forsberg of Red Bull Leipzig as transfer speculation continues.

Wolf is regarded as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Austrian league and he scored 12 goals and eight assists last season as Salzburg made it as far as the Europa League semi-finals.

According to The Mirror, Everton are one of a number of clubs tracking the 19-year-old.

Forsburg, meanwhile, has caught the eye for Sweden in the World Cup in Russia. Italian transfer gossip site Calciomercato claim that the Blues are interested in the 26-year-old who has also been linked with Arsenal and Liverpool.

Forsberg would be excellent (he's the RB Leipzig one btw). No clue about the other guy. Unlikely to get both since Rangick will want to keep his best players and Lookman would probably be requested as part of such a deal. :(

I wasn't impressed by Forsberg in the last game. He seemed a bit ponderous for the Premier League. I would sooner have Lookman back and Danny Rose in.

"Wolf is regarded as one of the most exciting young midfielders in the Austrian league".

If he plays for RB Leipzig, then it must be in Bundesliga, not Austria!

Am I missing something?

It's a typo, Soren. Wolf plays for Salzburg, Forsberg plays for Leipzig. Swap Lyndon's post around and it makes perfect sense. It's just a typo.

Unsure whether there will be any mileage in either of the two mentioned, but at least it's encouraging that we're being linked with relatively unknowns, as opposed to household names at exorbitant prices.

Belatedly realised my typo after someone raised it on Twitter! Sorry for the confusion!

Sorry, Lyndon, but "wide men"?

Are we talking cockney agents here as with Bolasie, Walcott and Lookman we have more than enough wingers already, a couple of full backs who use to be good at overlapping — and we haven't even touched on managers and coaches who shove somebody out on the wide for the sake of it.

Forsberg, no chance. He'll be off to a Champions League side.

I have an Austrian friend and asked about Wolf. 'A talent, but one who is selfish and tries to do things beyond his limits.' Doesn't think he'll ever be successful in a big league.
