The U18 Premier League replaced the Premier Academy League at the start of the 2012-13 season with the aim to enhance youth development and help transition players between the Academy and First Team. The league has been set out with the following criteria:
Age requirement: Clubs are not allowed to field any outfield players outside of the U18 age category. However, the goalkeeper is permitted to come from the U19 age category.

A last-minute goal from Joe Williams handed Everton’s Under-18s a deserved win at Southampton. The young Blues had gone ahead through Ryan Ledson but conceded straight from the kick-off at the start of the second half. But, having weathered a period of pressure from the hosts, Williams popped up to snatch it late on.
The pick of the goals though was Ledson’s. Taking aim from 25 yards, the youngster drove a left-footed strike into the bottom corner. That gave the Blues the initiative in a half they had controlled from the early exchanges. However they were guilty of squandering a couple of good chances to extend the lead, and were punished immediately inside 30 seconds of the second half.
That equaliser galvanised Saints who began to grow into the contest, but were thwarted at every turn by Russell Griffiths, with the Toffees’ keeper making a number of eye-catching saves. The Blues then had the ball in the net but had the goal chalked off.
But Griffiths’s contribution would prove decisive as, with seconds remaining, George Green swung over a free-kick, Williams evaded his man and was on hand to snatch all three points for Everton.

The hosts edged the opening 45 and were handed a penalty which was duly converted on the stroke of half-time.
Midfielder Ryan Ledson led the charge after the break as chances started to fall for the Toffees, despite substitutions resulting in three players under the age of 16 taking to the turf.
Despite continued pressure and openings, Everton were unable to find a way through and even when handed a 92nd-minute penalty, Callum Dyson was unable to take advantage.

A George Green brace put the hosts 3-1 ahead following Harry Charsley's opener, before Chelsea goalscorer Fankaty Dabo was shown a straight red card. Kasey Palmer's penalty proved to be mere consolation as the Blues held on.
The win followed a narrow defeat in last week's Merseyside derby, with midfielder Charsley making a good early spell count on 15 minutes when he tapped in from close-range.
Dabo's leveller was cancelled out on the stroke of half-time by Green, who scored with an excellent solo effort. The forward then netted his second from a free-kick on 55 minutes to put Everton on course for three points.

Kevin Sheedy's side started brightly enough and took the lead just 10 minutes in when Dyson latched on to a Charlsey throughball before coolly lobbing the goalkeeper. Parity was restored soon after however and a quick Villa second saw Everton go in behind at the break.
It could have been worse. Awarded a penalty on the stoke of half-time, Aston Villa's taker saw his effort come back off the crossbar before he rammed home the rebound. Incorrectly, the 'goal' was initially allowed to stand, before protests from Everton's players caused the referee to realise his error and reverse the decision.
It proved important as the visitors emerged for the second half rejuvenated and levelled things up when Gethin Jones finished from close range on 55 minutes. Everton were much the better side from there on in and rightly got the winner they deserved with 15 minutes remaining when a fumble from Villa's keeper helped Charsley's effort creep over the line.

Everton's Under-18s extended their winning run with a 1-0 victory over Leicester this morning at Finch Farm. Jordan Thorniley scored the only goal 15 minutes in and the Blues dominated to record a third successive victory.
It was also the young Toffees' first clean sheet of the campaign. Thorniley's strike arrived via a George Green set piece and was powerfully volleyed home.
Everton didn't rest on their laurels and continued to probe with a number of chances following. It was more of the same after the break and both Duffus brothers could have added to the lead. First Tyrone's volley was well saved before Courtney sent an effort narrowly wide.

George Green was the star of the show as Everton Under-18s beat West Brom 3-1 on Saturday. Green slotted home two penalties either side of a superb individual strike to help the young Blues maintain their excellent recent run.
This was their fourth consecutive victory and unsurprisingly the Toffees began in confident fashion, stroking the ball around despite being away from home.
They soon broke through when Courtney Duffus was illegally halted in the box and Green converted the penalty for a 25th minute lead. It remained that way at the break after Tyrone Duffus and Joe Williams missed decent chances.
The killer second goal came via a moment of sheer class from Green on the hour mark as he cut in from the wing and unleashed a brilliant effort into the top corner from 25 yards. George Green then completed his hat-trick with another spot-kick after sub Oliver Shannon had been fouled.

Everton Under-18s chalked up their fifth straight win after taking maximum points from their trip to Blackburn on Saturday morning, where they had to dig deep to see off a spirited Rovers and secure a 3-2 win.
Everton made a bright start and deservedly took the lead through Callum Connolly on 15 minutes.
It was all-square at half-time as Blackburn responded, but the Toffees were back in front after the restart when striker Courtney Duffus finished after good work from his brother, Tyrone.
Everton wasted several opportunities to extend their advantage and they were hit by the sucker punch when the hosts levelled for a second time.
Unperturbed by the setback, Everton rallied and netted the game's fifth and decisive goal when Gethin Jones scored late on with an expertly-taken free-kick after Blackburn had been reduced to 10 men.

The young Blues' fine run of form looked to be ending when they fell behind to a James Thomas strike after half-time. But Kevin Sheedy's never-say-die scholars turned the tie around to net a win that keeps them in second place in the league table.
George Green levelled the scores with a low drive and then Callum Connolly bent a shot into the corner following Harry Charsley's cut-back to seal three hard-fought points.

Everton Under-18s' excellent run was brought to a halt in dramatic fashion by Reading on Saturday. The Toffees took a 2-0 first half lead and looked to be cruising towards a seventh straight win only for the Royals to rally in the second half to snare all three points with a 3-2 victory.
The Blues began well and dominated before taking the lead after 20 minutes when Tyrone Duffus slipped George Green's cross home. The lead was doubled shortly after when full-back Callum Connolly scored his third goal in as many games with a low shot.
But after half-time Reading were much improved while Everton began slowly. They conceded possession too readily and resorted to the long ball instead of passing it around.
The Royals pulled a goal back after 10 minutes of the half. A further 15 minutes later it was 2-2 and then, with a quarter of an hour to go, a shell-shocked Everton conceded a killer third goal from a penalty box melee.

Everton Under-18s have now won eight of their last nine games after a 5-0 demolition of Wolves. They were second best for the opening half hour and required a superb Russell Griffiths save to keep the visitors out. Everton improved before the break and after a stern talking to from Sheedy and Duncan Ferguson, they were much better. After five minutes of the second period Calum Dyson cut in from the left and sent a shot arrowing into the top corner.
Five minutes after that, George Green doubled the lead with a mirror image of Dyson's effort. The ex-Bradford player cut in from the right and shot accurately with his left foot.
Green then turned provider on 64 minutes, centring for Harry Charsley to tap in and put the Blues out of sight. Wolves were stunned but there was still time for a quick fire brace from Courtney Duffus to add gloss to the scoreline.

Everton Under-18s were dealt a cruel blow at Manchester United, as a last gasp 2-1 defeat, their first loss since August.
In a top-of-the-table clash at the Aon Training complex, they recovered well from a penalty when George Green converted his own spot-kick inside the final 10 minutes. But an injury time goal resulted in very late winner that enabled the Mancunians to overtake Everton in the top spot of the U18s Premier League North Group.
The game started frantically, but the Blues began to find a rhythm and looked the most likely to break the deadlock in the opening exchanges. However, it was Manchester United who opened the scoring on 23 minutes after Pereira was brought down after a challenge from Curtis Langton, and the 17-year-old Belgian midfielder made no mistake from the spot.
The Blues came out fighting in the second period, and George Green's deliveries from set pieces were causing havoc in the United penalty area. Clear chances remained at a premium for both sides, but it was Green who almost found Everton's equaliser. After cutting in from the right, the England Under-18 international unleashed a powerful curling effort to force a good save from goalkeeper Joel Pereira.
At the other end, Russell Griffiths was called into action after a shot from Joshua Harrop was heavily deflected — the goalkeeper got down smartly to prevent the ball from nestling into the bottom corner.
Michael Donohue was introduced with just over ten minutes remaining and the change proved to be an inspired one. After tenacious work to dispossess Devonte Redmond, the midfielder broke quickly into the United half and picked out Courtney Duffus, who was eventually bundled over in the box. Captain Green side-footed the ball into the bottom left corner of the goal to register his eighth league goal of the season and level the game at 1-1.
Everton's tails were up, and they were unfortunate not to snatch another goal almost immediately after when Donohue again caused problems down the right. His cross found an unmarked Tyrone Duffus whose effort went agonisingly wide. The young Blues were made to rue that miss when the hosts went down the other end with just one minute remaining and found a winner through Goss. Griffiths reacted well to deny James Wilson initially, but Goss was on hand to smash home the rebound and seal a 2-1 victory for United.

Kevin Sheedy's men welcomed Newcastle to Finch Farm but were on the wrong end of a 2-0 defeat to the Magpies, who were managed by former Blues stalwart Dave Watson.The Blues fell behind in the first half to a Macaulay Gillesphey headed goal, with the second goal arriving in the second period. It came from an Everton head off an Adam Armstrong free-kick and effectively killed the game off.Despite the defeat, the Young Blues are still firmly ensconced in the upper echelons of league table.

Seemingly cruising, the young Blues were dealt a severe blow when midfielder Joe Williams was shown a straight red card on 58 minutes following a late challenge.
Everton's 10 men held out until the 82nd minute, when the Reds pulled a goal back from the spot following a questionable handball decision. But they were unable to further cut Everton's lead and Kevin Sheedy's side managed to complete a morale-boosting triumph.

City took the lead after 17 minutes when Ashley Smith-Brown fired home a loose ball. The lead was double just two minutes later when Thierry Ambrose converted at the near post. The Blues did pull a goal back after the half-hour to make it 2-1 off a well-taken corner, when Courtney Duffus was on hand to flick the ball into the back of the net, and that was the way it stayed until the break.
But just after the second half started, Ambrose struck again to extend the home side's lead. Everton rallied at that point and applied pressure to the City goal, going close on a number of occasions.
But instead of finding a way back into the game, the Toffees found themselves 4-1 down when Denzeil Boadu struck with just eight minutes left.

The Teesiders came from behind to hand the young Blues a second defeat in a week.
It looked promising for the young Blues when Harry Charsley produced a clinical finish to put his side ahead after just 15 minutes. The Toffees made several further chances but couldn't extend their slender lead.
In the second half Everton weren't as incisive in possession and Boro capitalised, winning a penalty just five minutes after the restart. The equaliser sting Sheedy's men back in to action and they forced a number of further openings.
Bit instead of taking the lead, they fell behind. A defensive error allowed the home side to snatch victory.

A very young Everton Under-18s side fell to a 2-0 defeat away to Bolton on Saturday morning. Kevin Sheedy bemoaned the loss of 8 regulars held back for the U21 game on Monday, with a significant number of U21 players sent out on loan.

Everton's first opportunity fell to Jonjoe Kenny. The young defender forced a smart save from Arsenal stopper Ryan Huddart after a deep floated cross from George Green. The young Blues went on to open the scoring on 35 minutes. Intelligent link-up play between Welsh wideman Jones and winger Calum Dyson set up an inch-perfect cross for Tyrone Duffus in the Arsenal six-yard box, and he made no mistake in nodding the ball past Huddart to give the home side the lead.
The Toffees doubled their lead just eight minutes later when Jordan Thorniley was bundled over by Arsenal's Tafari Moore inside the penalty area. Green emphatically converted the spot-kick - smashing the ball into the top left corner of the goal and sending Huddart the wrong way. It was to be Green's last contribution as he hobbled off with an ankle injury to be replaced by England Under-17 international Ryan Ledson.
Both teams continued to battle the weather, as well as each other, after the break and clear chances came at a premium. Harry Charsley spurned a half chance to seal it for the home side, while Iwobi and Jack Jebb came closest to a reply for Arsenal. The young Gunners did manage to pull a goal back 11 minutes from time after a flowing move started and finished by Iwobi gave the visitors hope. But Everton's defence stood strong and the Blues hung on to register all three points.

After a confident start, Everton broke the deadlock on 18 minutes through midfielder Charsley. An exquisite reverse pass from striker Delial Brewster found Tyrone Duffus 10-yards out. Duffus's side-footed effort was palmed onto the inside of the post by the goalkeeper. A brief moment of confusion as to whether or not the ball had crossed the line was soon cleared up by Charsley who made no mistake from two-yards to give the home side the lead.
Good build-up play in the Blues' midfield released Duffus down the left flank. His cross found Calum Dyson at the far post, who could only divert his header just over the crossbar under pressure from the Blackburn defence. Blackburn did manage to notch an equaliser after 55 mins.
But Everton regained their lead on 72 minutes in somewhat fortuitous circumstances. Substitute Callum Connolly's 25-yard strike was heavily deflected by a Rovers defender which wrong footed the goalkeeper and put the U18s back in front. The victory was sealed nine minutes from time when Jordan Thorniley thumped home an in-swinging free-kick to make it 3-1.

On 20 minutes, Oliver Shannon fired in an effort from 25 yards and when the keeper parried the ball out, Duffus was on hand to convert.
With the wind in their favour after half time the Blues made additional chances, but Duffus couldn't bag a second and Delial Brewster was also unable to extend the lead.

Everton Under-18s came from 2-0 down after just 23 minutes to win 5-2 at Newcastle United on Saturday. But they forced a goal of their own five minutes before the interval. Kieran Dowell's corner was headed down by Calum Dyson and midfielder Tom Davies was there to pounce from close range.
Substitute Arlen Birch produced a wonderstrike with one of his very first touches in the game, lashing a 25-yard shot across the Magpies' goalkeeper and in off the post. Birch would get on the scoresheet again less than six minutes later after finding himself well placed to convert a cross and make it 3-2.
A second corner proved fruitful on 75 minutes when Callum Connolly headed home. And as injury time neared, there was still enough on the clock for skipper Gethin Jones to run the length of the field and centre for Delial Brewster to add gloss to the result.

Goals from Tom Davies and Arlen Birch saw Everton Under-18s come from behind to leapfrog Manchester City and move into top spot in the Premier League U18 North Group on Saturday.
A slip from Curtis Langton on the edge of the box was quickly seized upon, the City young midfielder made no mistake in emphatically slamming the ball past Russell Griffiths in the Everton goal.
The lead, however, was to be short-lived as the Blues hit back just three minutes later to equalise with their first real opening. Calum Dyson's whipped cross from the right found Tyrone Duffus at the back post and the midfielder's headed knock-down was tapped home by Tom Davies.
City continued to press and almost regained their lead with a wonderstrike soon after, a rasping 25-yard volley which required an athletic diving stop from Griffiths to keep the scores level. But Everton began to grow into the half and exerted some prolonged periods of pressure of their own.
A surging run from the tireless Delial Brewster found Dyson down the right, but his chipped effort sailed agonisingly over the crossbar with the City goalkeeper well beaten. The Everton youngsters took the lead on 71 minutes, substitute Birch curling a sublime left-footed effort into the far corner from 15-yards with his very first touch.

Despite going a goal behind after just 5 minutes, the Blues recovered well amid strong winds. Gethin Jones's spot-kick, Calum Dyson's close-range finish and Courtney Duffus's header all turned the game around before the break and Kevin Sheedy's side clinched a vital three points to keep their title charge alive.
After that early setback, Duffus was pulled to ground inside the box and captain Jones stepped up to convert from 12 yards and restore parity on 15 minutes. Arlen Birch then found Harry Charsley in the box but the Republic of Ireland Under-17 international could not add a second.
Forward Dyson did just that, however, when he met a dangerous cross on 25 minutes. And Everton would secure their lead with a two-goal cushion through Duffus' close-range header following Charsley's corner.

The Potters started the brightest and took the lead with a long-range strike from a trialist in the 21st minute. Kevin Sheedy’s side then kicked into gear and claimed a share of the spoils with an equaliser on the hour mark. Jordan Thorniley played a ball into Calum Dyson who delivered a testing cross that was turned into his own net by a Stoke defender.

Everton continued their pursuit of the Under-18s Premier League North Group title with a 2-1 home win over West Ham United on Saturday lunchtime. Delial Brewster opened the scoring for Kevin Sheedy’s scholars on 20 minutes after good build-up play involving Oliver Shannon.
The hosts drew back level shortly before the interval with strike from an acute angle by Jerry Amoo which deflected past Russell Griffiths. The Blues keeper then made an excellent penalty save shortly after the restart to keep the scores level, denying Kieran Bywater after Jake Adelson had committed a foul on Marcio Martins inside the area.
It proved a decisive moment in the contest as Everton won the game 20 minutes before full-time. Harry Charsley chased down the West Ham keeper’s clearance, with the ball rebounding off the midfielder and into the net. The young Blues came close to making it three late on but Calum Dyson’s goalbound effort wa1s acrobatically tipped onto the post by the Hammers’ stopper.

Everton Under-18s put in one of their best performances of the season to thump Fulham 5-0 on Saturday afternoon. The Young Blues were dominant from start to finish and had no problems extending their unbeaten run to four matches.
Everton were up and running after just five minutes when Harry Charsley converted Liam Walsh’s cross with his head. The score was doubled just after the half-hour mark when a slick passing move ended with Callum Connolly finding the back of the net from just inside the area. And Walsh made it 3-0 on 36 minutes when he bagged after a clever corner involving Kieran Dowell.
More goals followed in the second half and Everton got their fourth when Charsley doubled his tally for the day with a low finish. The scoring was completed five minutes before the end when Callum beat Fulham’s keeper with an angled drive.

Everton Under-18s extended their unbeaten league run to 10 games with a commanding 2-0 win at Sunderland on Saturday afternoon. The young Blues are vying with Manchester City for top spot of Group One, with a place in the end of season play-offs already sealed as goals from Calum Dyson and Michael Donohue earned victory at the Academy of Light.
The Toffees were in control of the contest from the off, creating numerous opportunities in the first half while nullifying the Black Cats. And soon after the interval, Courtney Duffus crossed from the right and Dyson was on hand to head home at the far post.
Duffus then saw three efforts saved by the Sunderland goalkeeper and Harry Charsley fired inches wide of the post. Three points were in the bag on 65 minutes when substitute winger Donohue eased past his marker and ran through on goal to finish in fine fashion.

Everton's Under-18s drew 2-2 with Spurs in what turned out to be a dress rehearsal for the end of season play-offs. The point means Everton can't catch Man City at the top of the northern section. So the Blues, who were already guaranteed second spot, will face Tottenham - who won the southern section - again in two weeks' time.
Delial Brewster reacted quickest on the half hour to put Everton ahead and five minutes later Curtis Langton stroked home a spot-kick to double the advantage. But the home side pulled one back on the stroke of half time from their own penalty kick. The young Toffees were kicking into the wind in the second period and remained a threat on the break. But it was Spurs who levelled from another penalty, this one controversially awarded. Russell Griffiths saved the initial spot-kick but the rebound was duly dispatched.

Everton Under-18s' 11-game unbeaten league run came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday. The young Blues went into the contest having already secured their place in the playoff semi-finals. However, they would slip up in the final game of the regular season, with the visitors netting either side of Harry Charsley's second-half effort.
Both sides started positively and looked determined to make an impact from the outset. The first clear opportunity was manufactured by the visitors as Ruairi Croskery worked space in the Everton area and forced an acrobatic diving save from skipper-for-the-day Russell Griffiths. Everton were then awarded a penalty after 29 minutes as Kieran Dowell was brought down in the area with his back to goal. Gethin Jones stepped up from 12-yards, but his effort was beaten away by Dean Henderson who saved well to his right.
The visitors were buoyed by the save and began to dominate possession as the sides headed to the half-time break all square. The deadlock was eventually broken on 56 minutes after the tenacious Tom Davies was adjudged to have fouled Matthew Willock 25-yards out. Harrop stepped up and curled his right-footed effort around the wall and into the bottom corner with Griffiths left stranded.
Everton responded well and were lifted with the introduction of Liam Walsh in particular. The 15-year-old midfielder's deliveries were causing havoc among the United defence and Everton's equaliser fittingly came from his free-kick with 10 minutes remaining. An in-swinging whipped ball from the right was met by Charsley, who lost his marker and powered a header home to make it 1-1.
But the parity would not last long as United attacked straight from the kick-off to find Harrop, who smashed home from just inside the area to give United the win.

Everton U18s booked their place in the FA Premier Under-18 League end-of-season playoff final with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham at Goodison Park. Substitute Michael Donohue was the hero as his 75th-minute strike separated the sides in what was an even, entertaining contest.

Charsley's second-half strike gives Blues the Championship in memorable Goodison victory
Everton are the new Champions of the FA Under-18 Premier League after beating Manchester City U18s in the Playoff Final at Goodison Park this afternoon. Everton took the lead in the second half through Harry Charsley, and fought off everything the Northern Group winners could throw at them, Russell Griffiths pulling off a number of key saves in the Everton goal. A decent-sized crowd turned out in the Goodison sunshine, spurning the alternative attraction going on simultaneously (why?) at Wembley Stadium.
It took a while for things to get going, Gethin Jones heading down the right and lashing in a dipping cross just wide of the post after 20 mins. Man City hit the post on 32 mins. Griffiths had made some good saves in the Everton goal and more good defending was required to end a City four-on-three counter attack. Everton were coming into it a little more as the half-time whistle blew.
The first substitution of the game came on 54 mins: Calum Dyson making way for semi-final matchwinner, Michael Donohue. Great work by Joe Williams who fed in Michael Donohue, his shot was saved but Williams regained the ball which fell for Harry Charsley to fire into the net!
On the hour, Everton came close to a second as Courtney Duffus puts Donohue through but he took it too wide, and his hot was blocked out for a corner. Griffiths continued to come under pressure as City tried to force their way back into the game but were thwarted by the Everton goalkeeper. Delial Brewster replaced Courtney Duffus as the game entered the final quarter-hour.
With less than 10 mins left, there was almost a second goal for Harry Charsley as he turned inside the box before steering his shot just wide of the diving City keeper and past his far post. At the other end Griffiths had to make more crucial saves to keep Everton ahead of their northwest rivals and Northern Group winners.
As the clocked ticked away into 4 mins of added time, Kevin Sheedy made his final change: Walsh on for Joe Williams, before the final whistle went and Everton had made the most of their home advantage to defeat Manchester City U18s.

Everton's Under-18 side have won the Final of the Gothia Cup in Gothenberg, Sweden, beating Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna 3-0 to lift the trophy. Courtney Duffus scored the first goal with Harry Charsley getting the second, and a penalty taken by Duffus after he was fouled by the keeper sealed the win. The stunning victory sees Everton unbeaten in a series of six short-format games played this week, culminating in their historic win.
