The Rumour Mill, Season 2011-12

Blues tracking Leverkusen 'keeper

18/04/2012 | Comments (9)
Everton are one of four clubs chasing Bayer Leverkusen 'keeper Fabian Giefer.

The 21-year-old is currently Bernd Leno's understudy and is wanted by Bayern Munich and they appear to be favourites given his representative's statement:

"Fabi has got four alternatives," Tobias Sander told Bild. "Bayern Munich, Fortuna Dusseldorf, SpVgg Greuther Furth and Everton.

"It will be a gut decision in the end.

"Bayern Munich definitely has a special status. The training facilities, as much as the atmosphere at the club, are just a class in their own."

I was just thinking to myself, the one thing we need this summer is a new goalkeeper.

Don't believe it yet most likely just rubbish from his agent.

He might be a very good young keeper but we already have 3 on the books and let Ruddy go who has proved himself useful at Norwich.

Any young keeper joining Everton would need to have a huge amount of patience anyway as Moyes's first name on the team sheet is Howard.

I think Howard's importance to Everton has diminished the last couple of years. If we could get Hennessey from Wolves i'd sell Howard.

Only seen him play once but looks a good prospect. He'd be a fool to go to Bayern to be honest, he'd just be sat on the bench behind Manuel Neuer who Germans with no knowledge of the existence of Iker Casillas like to claim is the best GK in the world.

Well he`d certainly warm his arse with Everton!
Our Tim has only just signed another long-term contract and is one of Davey`s certain picks. He probably ranks fourth or fifth in the Prem rankings and is an integral part of one of the meanest defences in the league.
The American`s relability and limited budget almost certainly ensures that when Mucha departs,Moyes will settle for a much cheaper option as coverman.

Howard will never be dropped so what's the point?

I wouldn't describe Howard as reliable at all, Richard.

As long as he's cheap AND can track back Richard
oh, hang on...
