Birthday Poem

by   |   12/05/2015  Comments (2)  jump

In recognition of a his birthday, here's a little poem (with a nod to the Fab Four):

It was 70 years ago today,
That a fiery redhead came out to play.
He always played the game with style,
And was guaranteed to raise a smile,
So let us hear it once again,
From way back in the Boys Pen,
Who's the greatest of them all?
Little curly Alan Ball!

Well done, Frank.

Little Alan Ball... what a player, I cried when Catterick sold him to Arsenal.

I had the pleasure of meeting Alan Ball in a Manchester night club. He was with a couple of Man Utd stars, attending a Matt Monro concert. He signed a beer mat for me: "Everton here I come" I never dreamed it would happen.

He signed for the Blues 3 months later. and he goes down as one of our all-time greats.
