Solid supporter, Rob. Good man.

Mark "When I grow up, I want to be Rob Halligan".

Grow up, Mark!

"As tempting as it was, I couldn't face a pint of Stella at 5:15 in the morning",

Every time I read that sentence, an angel loses its wings!

Keep 'em coming Rob. Top Blue.

"As tempting as it was, I couldn't face a pint of Stella at 5:15 in the morning."

A man after my own heart. Guinness is the preferred early morning, airport breakfast alcoholic accompanist.

On a serious note, Rob, keep up the European travels and report backs.

The Jules Verne of TW strikes again. I'm adding "Euro away with Rob & Company" to my bucket list. Not that I could keep up.

On the other hand, it sounds like the hurricane in Atlanta was preferable to the footy in Atalanta. Fortunately I missed both.

Nice one, Rob. Good to hear you could still enjoy the trip despite the obvious. Thanks for sharing. You'll enjoy the food and wine in Lyon!

Great write up. Brings back memories, it's been a while for me, Rotterdam for the Feyenoord game in '95, but did them all prior to that, starting young with the where-have-the-coach-windows-gone trip, AC Milan in '75. Anyone remember that?

Liverpool JLA has a nice atmosphere for flying from, whatever the destination.

Nothing wrong with a well planned-out walking tour, Rob.

A very enjoyable piece, Rob, and sign of a true blue putting up with that crap and still looking forward to the next one.

Keep them coming please!

Good stuff, Rob.

For Blues planning to travel to Lyon under their own steam rather than one of the packages OL have told me that Everton fans can pre book car parking at the Groupama, cars, mini-vans & motorcaravans pay €15 in advance giving the usual personal details.

It's really easy to find, jct 6 of the E13/N346 and a dedicated turn off. There's trams back to the city centre (10km) but fans can wait as long as 2 hours.

There's nothing much around the stadium, only a big supermarket (Le Clerc) & a prison on the opposite side.

Mark #1 - Don't grow up, mate - it's a trap.

Rob Halligan - great narrative, mate.

Great report Rob. Dave and I showed more pace and fitness than our players did. As we always say it was a great day spoiled only by the match itself.

People often knock the Europa League but it provides a greater variety of matches and locations than the Champions League. The European trips have given us many of our happiest days supporting the club since the turn of the century. We can only hope the team earn us a few more in 2018.

Nice one Rob - the team must have been bricking themselves on the way to the airport!

Thanks for the report Rob, wise to leave the game out of it, hope you have great trips on the two future games abroad, hopefully more for Blues like you, nice you an look on the bright side after games and let downs like that, the club doesn't know how lucky they are to have such great fans.

As John says, we have been to some locations we would normally never dream of going too, if it weren't for the Europa League. It would be nice though, even for just one or two seasons to visit the likes of the Nou Camp, the Bernabeu, the San Spiro, the Allianz Arena etc, for some Champions League games.

Definitely not Anfield though.

In some days, not many years ago, life was easy and the the preseason games were the hols.

Times have changed, but all away days are great, and soon this club will turn the tide.

The club must now start playing football, as this season to date has been a farce.

God help us.

Thanks Rob it's good to get the fans view of these trips and even better read as you left the match out.

I wish Everton FC showed the same passion and ambition as our glorious fans do.

Good report through a fan's perspective.

I truly felt while watching the match, gutted for the fans who did make the effort, which is more than can be said for the team.

It's totally unacceptable the lack of effort shown by the team, and not just this match, it's not like these are a good side, but we made them look that way.
