Who would you choose?

Jump forward a few years and the grass is freshly cut, the pitch markings are drying in the sun, our new riverside stadium is full to bursting with anticipation of what will be, but who would you want to face as opposition to herald in the new era of our magnificent new home......?

You can pick any team, so who would it be to face the Mighty Blues on the Banks of the Royal Blue Mersey?

It has to be the RS surely.

The only acceptable first match is a victory against the RS.

Game versus the RS. Capacity crowd. Great football on display. A N Other Diving Bastard falls in the box. The RS players et al go mad, screaming at the referee. VAR comes in. Big screen shows that the diving twat had no-one near him and dropped like he was shot. Cheers all round. Blues win with injury time goal. Sorted.

The PL really want it to be a local derby, but there is one snag when they come to arrange the fixtures for the 2023/24 season - the Shite have been relegated to League 1 after being deducted 100 points for being total gobshites!

No it has to be the only teams on Merseyside, Everton and Everton reserves

For a Premier League match, I'd say Aston Villa. Isn't Everton-Aston Villa still the most played match on highest level? Would be a nice start, with some history attached.

How about we let the Champions League runners up, Barcelona come to play us to avenge their defeat in the Champions League final of the previous May?
