Astounding... a sensible decision finally!

What could be more ridiculous than having not one but two goalies on the bench! Everton that!!!

There were games last season when I'd have been happier with them allowing 11.

While I get the initial concept of the 5 subs, it just seemed by the end of the season teams were just making the subs for the sake of it. A lot of the time, bringing on 3 players for the last 5 mins just didn't make any sense.

Good call!

The bottom line is football is about fatigue and how the game changes in the latter stages. More substitutes dilutes that.

Not to mention the enhanced ability for time wasting by using all the subs as a matter of tactics.

I presume they will drop the ridiculous water breaks too.

Anthony, I'll be sorry to see that. We may have sucked in other areas, but we've been the best water break club in the Premier League. Good pre-drinks preparation, highly organized bottle passing, and good deep-gulp finishing with very little unsightly slurping.

It was kind of fun for the restart, but I wouldn't want to see it implemented permanently.

Why not make it even more interesting – or just downright complicated – and insist that one of the three subs has to be under 21 years of age and another British. Or is that ageist, racist and unBrexit?

Next, somebody will say that subs should only be allowed for injuries but I have to admit to having a sneaking regard for having to sacrifice something as most players aren't proficient at both creative and defensive play.

I mean, as good as Alan Ball was you'd never pick him to play centre-half or Brian Labone to be midfield lynch-pin.

Apparently there are moves afoot to about turn this decison and allow the five subs again. I would like to see a young player or two on the bench who can only take the place of a sent off player, the offender will still serve a ban but the team on the day will still have eleven players.

Therefore bad decisions by the officials won't have as much impact as they do now. It may also lead to some of the players at the leading clubs getting the punishment they deserve rather than the officials feeling compromised because of the effect it might have on the offending team.

Bill post 10’. It what way was it fun to restart while people where dying or getting ill in the hundreds? It was continued so they could have their moment in the sun no more no less plus the financial implications of it. You know it we all know it. It’s a sham of a competition and will be until fans are allowed in full in the grounds.

Going back to five subs just favours the money clubs, IMO, the clubs who have the bigger, better squads and thus better subs to be brought on.

Does anyone know how we voted on this matter first time round? I can't understand why any club outside the richest handful would support 5 subs. It's hard enough to beat them, or in many instances even provide a competitive match, without making it even more difficult for yourself.
