Everton Books - The Wanderings of an Everton Nerd

The Wanderings of an Everton Nerd
Matchday Photography in & around Goodison Park

Kapow Enterprises;  (34 pages)  ISBN: xxxxxxxx

/ Photographs taken in and around Goodison Park, home of my beloved Everton FC on matchdays during the 2006-07 season.

My intention was to capture that unique buzz in all its glory, from the lull on a Saturday morning before players, press and punters stroll up, the atmosphere builds and kick off time approaches. The tension of the game itself, 30,000+ Blues crammed in to the old ground willing the lads on from first whistle to laste. Finally the murmer and bustle as the crowds wind away down the narrow streets of Walton, delighted by a well earned three points, bemused by another bore draw or downcast in defeat. As we are all well aware, you never quite know just what you'll get with Everton these days!

There really is nothing like a wander down to L4 4EL on matchday and any time the thought of Everton leaving their home is uttered I am filled with an impending sense of dread and doom. I hope therefore that this collection of images goes some way towards capturing that special magic of goin' the match for fellow Blues everywhere.

George Orr, editor of esteemed Everton fanzine Blue Blood, writes in issue 88 (May 2011):

"This glossy little book is delightful, full of match day views and scenes from around the ground. Bullens Road, Gwladys Street, Goodison Road, all get great coverage. Jamie has used his camera to do the talking, there is no text or storyline, just magnificent photographs.

"It captures the match day atmosphere so well, most of us have a pre match ritual, we walk up the same street, go to the same shop, the same pub and talk to the same people. That is all there to be seen in this book, it shows scenes from around Goodison Park that are not the most beautiful, but the ones we have deep in our heart.

"This is the kind of book that Everton should be producing to show just what Everton Football Club is all about."
