In amongst all the angst of ?The Vote?, it seems that each side have pulled their own stunts/scams to make you believe that theirs is not only ?the true way?, but also ?the only way?. EFC have paraded all the most adored players to declare ?I only signed/extended because of Kirkby? whilst the likes of Tony Marsh et al have been more subtle and declared all yes voters traitors / dickheads / reds/ wankers etc.

It appears that all No voters will either not attend the matches in future, cherry pick their games, or not discourage their siblings from supporting other teams. The end is nigh they say, we won?t support the team any more, you?re not from Liverpool so you don?t understand.

I?m not from Liverpool, so maybe I don?t properly understand, but if I relay the following to you, maybe you could understand me, and more importantly, ask yourself a very important question at the end of it.

A big friend of mine, who has lived near Blackburn all his life, is, like me, an avid Evertonian. He has held season tickets for a number of years, and has the same tenuous links to Merseyside as I have ? none! He feels like I do that we ?have been chosen? as in the ?Evertonians are born? legend. He told me a very interesting story last season with which I think all true Evertonians could associate.

A friend of his asked him the hypothetical questions:-
Q ?Could you ever imagine a future without your wife??
A ?I don?t even want to think about it, but I suppose it is possible if one of us has an accident or something!?
Q ?Could you imagine both of you alive, and your wife married to someone else??
A? I suppose it could happen if we drifted apart or something!?
Q ?Could you imagine this other bloke bringing up your kids if he and your wife are married??
A ?I would hate that, but it?s got to be a possibility!?
Q?Could you ever support anyone other than Everton??
A?Never? (I think the actual answer was ?Don?t be fuckin stupid!!!!!!!?)
His friend then said ? ? So you love Everton more than your wife and kids!!!!!!?

Ask yourself the above questions, it may put the Kirkby situation in perspective. We do not choose, we are chosen. ONE TRUE LOVE

I’m not married so I can’t answer those questions in the context you describe , however I could never imagine myself supporting a club other than Everton , the three months of the close season this year brought it home to me even more because I was staring to get withdrawal symptoms , especially saturday afternoons , I found myself scouring every Everton related website just for the merest snippet of a rumour , be it Kirby related or transfer speculation..... anything , just to satisfy my craving , Maybe its been worsethis year because we’re threatening to be on the brink of something special .. it’s in the air , just like it was in 1985 , we’d just won the FA cup v watford , finished the season well and we knew that team were good , reidy , big nev , sharpy, sheeds , tricky trev , rats , ..... the squad we have now is the best since then ..

try keeping me away , I voted no but I’d watch them on the moon if I could get a lift there ...!!!

My ties to Liverpool are all in the past. My grandfather was born there. He married a girl from London. My mother married an American serviceman.. Viola, here I am in Texas...
Anyway, I became an Everton supporter the day my mother told me..your grandfather supported Everton.
I’ve been to Goodison...and I’ve also driven 700 miles in one day to see Everton when they played in Houston...
But, there is an air about this season. I last went to Goodison against Watford..a 1-0 win..I can’t remember how scored..But Adrian Heath made a nice run..and just missed and I can remember getting the feeling that this was a team on the verge

I think Umbro used to run an ad in the Everton programme: "If you had to choose between Everton and your girlfriend, would you miss her?"

What a load of sentimental shite, the facts of the matter are simple, if we move to Kirkby we will have nothing what so ever to do with the name Everton.
So whilst they rename the ground why not do the honourable thing and rename the team, Kirkby Town FC . Get used to crowds like Boro attract, because that will become reality, personaly I want no part of that.

Shut up Steve, this is a light hearted post in the midst of some heavy debatable ones that have been on here recently, if you compare us with Boro’ it makes you look a tit, so dont & we severed all ties with Everton over a 100 years ago when we moved to Anfield then onto Walton??? I’m a No Voter by the way.

I’ll be gutted to leave Goodison, but short of setting foot in An..red shite..field I’ll watch the Blues anywhere. I love Everton and I was born a Blue, I never chose them, they chose me. Nuff said.

Hey Soft Lad. I have never called any yes voters Reds or wankers in any fo my aricles or responses so dont fucking credit me with doing so.Traitors and scabs yes I have used those phrases and thats what they are.Why would I call an Everton supporter a red???.I leave that to the muppets on this sitethat call me those words.As for Kirkby stick it up your arse .Who gives a toss what some one who lives in Blackburn thinks about the move.Let them concern them selves with what goes on in Blackburn.Leave scouse issues to the locals.DICKHEAD theres one I have said.

I feel just the same as Kevin, death of a thousand cuts as far as I’m concerned.

I’m a fan and will continue to support them but this all but secures the shite adding an extra 10 - 20,000 seats in a decade or two.

And there is no hope of the people of kirkby getting in the way of this, I’m afraid this is all about money, and not for "new players".

Despite the above I hope ALL fans, Yes or No can unite and support the team on Saturday. COYB

I will still go to Kirkby, Cos I am Blue! And i refuse to cut my nose of to spite my face, BUT.... i am very fearful that 10,000 of us will boycott the remaining games this season as well as not fill the new ground to even half its capacity! 15,000 yes votes is not enough to go on, not when 10,000 said no! and 10,000 refused to vote!

They refused beacuse they dont want it in thier conscience that they played a part in this great clubs demise!

I fucking hope and pray to god I am wrong! I hope the place gets packed week in week out! please god!!!

Keith Wyness said "I feel it is important that fans have a sense of place". Apparently that place is Kirkby. As a non-local Evertonian, with no links to Liverpool, I’m gutted.

Despite having no connection to Liverpool, except my support of EFC, I thought our ?sense of place? was within the Liverpool city boundary (notional or otherwise) trading blows toe-to-toe against the RS.

I didn’t have a vote - and that is right. I haven’t had a season ticket since 2000. But I feel like the city of Liverpool has been ceded to Liverpool FC. I feel like Everton FC and the eligible voters gave it up without a fight.

I?m Gutted. Absolutely gutted.

As a 6 year old boy, my father took me to Goodison for the first time and that was in 1978. I have been attending ever since. My dad was the ONLY Evertonian in a family of 8. He raised me and my 2 brothers to be Evertonians and at 61 and suffering with MS, my dad never misses a home game and I have my season ticket next to him.

My dad voted NO and I voted YES and to be honest, the more I read and think and digest what I’ve done, the more I fear for our future. I work in finance and have qualifications in business so commercially, this move ticks every box. Trust me, financially it is a no-brainer.

However, emotionally it is now hurting me. I think of my dad and his devotion to Goodison for 50+ years, and how much it breaks his heart to even consider Everton not playing in the city and as a Yes voter, I’m now thinking what have I done?

Of course if we move, I will be there and I’m sure my dad will as well but is it too late to persuade the club to stay???

Sad. but glad that as a club we had our say. As I see it the fans have voted pretty conclusively to go to Kirby. I think it’s a massive mistake, but anyway.

In some ways - it forces the hand of LCC and Bestway and we hope and pray that if they CAN come up with the financials the club will consider it.

In fact what is the deal here, if an alternative appears - do you ’Yes’ voters expect the club to at least consider it?

Despite the outcome and my own personal thoughts on the stadium debate above I hope we can move on and support the team. To be honest I’m tired of the whole thing and I don’t think I’m alone in thinking that.

More important things have happened this week and I would encourage all fans to think the family of Rhys Jones who are currently dealing with what can only be imagined as your worst nightmare. Please show your support for the family of Saturday as a mark of respect for their loss of a small kid who thought of nothing but his blue hero?s and playing football with his mates, the true value of the game and something I think we all need to consider when arguing the toss over a postcode.

Steve Mac, how you can say financially this is a ’no-brainer’ when we dont even know any figures yet? and the ones Fat twat has come out with have been subject to change depending on who’s interviewing him!! You may have broke your poor dads heart & mine too. I’m angry at the vote results, it doesnt represent us fairly i beleieve but its over now. I’ll just watch how this develops, it wont be pretty believe me

10,000 "refused to vote" because they didn’t want it on their consciences. This is bollocks and you know it.

"The word corrupt comes to mind". Only to yours Tom. This vote process that the Board did not need to go through (they could have just taken us to a new ground the way every other club has), and it was conducted by the Electoral Reform Society. Get real.

Although it’s not done and dusted, this indeed may be a sad day for Everton. I voted yes, but I am genuinely gutted that it looks like we will be leaving the City. There was no viable alternative to me, and any alternatives put up were last minute straw clutching.

My original post was meant to highlight that we are ABOVE ALL Evertonians, and that Everton will survive wherever they are.

We were at least given a vote, in common with the peoples club theme. This need not have been given, and seeing the fallout, it may not have been a wise move, but if we all had foresight, we would win the lottery every week.

I would hope that acceptance, however grudging, will now prevail, and we get back to doing what we were born to - supporting Everton.

Tony M, had to mention you mate because you posted a nice reply to my Huyton query last night, and I didn’t want to take the blame for sending you soft. Nice to see you’re back on form pal because without extremists on both sides these forums wouldn’t exist.

Keep up the faith and may your God (Everton) go with you.
