Floodgates Now Open
How many of you honestly expected to get something from our game at Villa Park yesterday? I know I never. In fact the outcome of the Villa game was obvious on Thursday night. We are piss poor in all departments. For the first time in living memory I was totally disinterested in an Everton game. We are now that shite to watch and so predictable that the result at Villa was never in doubt so I just didn't bother. Not even a flick of the teletext button. After 6 years in charge at Everton David Moyes is running out of gas and the fans out of patience. The Moyes game plan consists only of... "Get out there and see what happens lads." We now conceed goals in every game and very rarely score from open play. It's soul-destroying to watch and I just dont see how anyone backs Moyes any longer.
Liverpool sacked Houllier after 3 years and he won about 7 trophies. Chelsea have given Mourihnio the bullet for playing negative football and he has won League titles and FA Cups in his short time there. So why do we Everton supporters have to put up with this crap we are seeing now? Why are we so easily pleased? I just don't get it.
A few seasons back we were sliding down the league table and being embarrased in cup competitions by the likes of Shrewsbury and later on the Romanian waiters of Bucharest. It's still going on now yet many of you consider us to be progressing nicely. Moyes has stabilized the club you say. Well, thanks for that, Davey, but I think even Moyes must realise that his number's up. He has been sussed out and time after time it's the poor sods who travel around the country watching this tripe who suffer most.
Only a fool would back Everton to win at Sheffield Wednesday this week and they are a poor Championship side so what does that say about Moyes's Everton? I have never seen a more gutless and lightwieght bunch of players in the Royal Blue jersey in all my life and it all stems from Moyes. What ever he is doing and saying during training in the week just isn't working. Does Moyes really coach the players to whack the ball down channels and run after it? If so then he should have no place at Everton Football Club.
I want more than this up-and-under style of play. I want to see our players standing up and being counted when they take to the field. I want to see pace, power, aggression and a decent standard of football. What I dont want to see is our players being brushed aside like schoolboys who have gotten in the way of the bigger kids out on the playground. I don't want to see scrawny midgets running around like headless chickens while a bulging-eyed Jock screams and shouts at them for 90 minutes (god only knows what Moyes is screaming).
If something is not done soon then we can kiss this season goodbye by Christmas. If Kenwright does offer Moyes another 5 years at the club then that will be it for me. I can't soldier on any more knowing we have a fraud as our manager. A dull dreary and inept fraud at that. Moyes has to go and if he was any kind of a man he would do us a favour and admit the job's too big for him. Don't be fooled into thinking there is no-one else to take the job. There would be plenty of takers and to be honest I don't think anyone can do any worse than Moyes is doing right now.
If Moyes stays Everton FC will just stagnate and fester away in an ocean of mediocrity. Is that all you want from your team? ? survival every year. FFS we are Everton FC not Charlton, Watford or some other Mickey Mouse outfit. Change the manager and the way we play or change the club motto. Nil Satis is leaving a bad taste in the mouth these days.

However, had you watched some of the match you’d have realised that actually Everton abandoned the long-ball game for large portions of the game. The problem was the lack of penetration which has been a far more telling Achilles heel.
Let’s not forget however that Everton were sitting on a good start to the season just 9 days ago before the United match. 5 games played, 10 points in the bag, and all was looking rosy with a reasonable goal-scoring record to boot.
Whilst I will join you in January in calling for Moyes head if this malaise which has settled on the team continues, at least give him the chance to field the team he’s built for this season. A team that includes Cahill, Gravesen and Arteta and then see whether he can produce attacking football when he’s finally got the players to do it in all departments of the team. The last week he’s been seriously struggling to put out an attacking team irrespective of what he wants. If Carsley, Jagielka and Neville are your only fit central midfielders you WILL struggle to create chances. Nothing can be gained by sacking the manager now, let the man either prove you conclusively wrong or right. At the moment it’s going your way and I’m following your opinion but three games, no matter how bad, do not make a season, especially one where 3 of the remaining 5 would tell a completely different story.
Moyes HAS improved us. He’s turned relegation strugglers into a mid-table side, but now he has a nose bleed.
Tony writes one thing I’ve been saying to anyone who would listne sice Thursday - The Moyes game plan consists only of... "Get out there and see what happens lads."
Unlike Tony, I’d rather grind out crap 0-0 draws and actually win something than see flair. Flair comes after a winning team.
Moyes continues to deliver neither.
But you overemphasise things to make your point. Calm down on the "stagnate into Mediocrity" statements!! Its not like we’ve been a model of "pass and move" up until now. I even remember being called the dogs of war at one point!!
But the season doesnt rest on one defeat. We could beat Boro at home on Sunday and get into the group stages of Europe on Thursday and things could be on the up again - who knows. Thats why we watch tha games. And all this talk about not being able to take it anymore....come on, knock that on the head mate!!
Just what we need more irrational moaning!
On what judgement do you base that claim that strikers are thinking twice. As I remember it, the last striker we tried to buy (Yakubu) wanted to join us so much he agitated for a move til his manager gave in and took the money.
give it till febuary and he,ll be fed up of chasing balls to knowhere [if he chases at all]
can you tell me in the last 5 yrs a striker weve made look good ???, everyone striker who comes here ends up struggling, why? it aint rocket science john
Aj 24 in the prem for Palace now shot to fuck chasing high balls to knowhere.
Beattie 17 and 24 for saints went 13 months without an outfield goal then drifted away to a shit league.
Mcfadden a scots hero fucking shite for us , this is all fact and certainly no coincidence.
What about Cup runs?
Yes he has definitely steadied the ship and we aren’t perennial relegation strugglers but I just don’t think he has it in himself to step up to the next level I am afraid.
Tony, I feel you’re going through some kind of personal crisis as a fan and I don’t blame you for it, we all have it some time or another but if you’re not interested even in the results, I think it’s best to take a break.
Before someone starts it, I’m not trying to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. I really intend it only as a kind advice. If I ever lost faith in the team (not the management), I’d do the same.
I am more than aware that our odds of winning at Sheffield are pretty low but for me being a fan is partly about the often irrational hope that the lads on the pitch can turn things around.
Call me an apologist if you like.
The latter undoubtedly looked best when he played for us.
But I don’t think Vaughan looks that bad either apart from his injury problems.
"I have never seen a more gutless and lightwieght bunch of players in the Royal Blue jersey in all my life", have you forgotten the awful times of Walter Smith’s era? Moyes has to be given credit for everything he’s done for the club. I agree the team are infuriating to watch sometimes but we are definitely heading in the right direction. Moyes has brought stability to the club and is now bringing us forward to a higher level. To start calling for his head after a few poor performances is riculous. I wish people would stop being so negative and get behind the lads, that’s what being an Evertonian is all about.
By the way I back us to beat Wednesday in the cup.
We’re not playing well at the moment, but that has more to do with having Arteta, Cahill, Vaughan & Gravesen, 4 of our most creative players missing than anything else.
Clearly Tony you are undergoing some sort of personal crisis as a fan. I share your views on off the pitch matters, but on the pitch I am not going to jump of a tall building just yet. Moyes is not perfect, last Thursday was poor, but give yourself a break for a few weeks or something. It’s all got too much for you!
I can only stand it when I record it and watch it in 5 minutes anymore...10 minutes if we win; I live 5000 miles away so gave my season ticket up a while back and have only had to endure a live Moyes disaster once...the ’spineless’derby a couple of years back. I just hope we dont as a club implode and I pray we don’t go near the drop zone again. It really will be like a big, black cloud lifting from the place when he goes, and just pray that next time we get someone that recognises, and relates to, skilled players, buys power and pace allied to skill and has some tactical nous. It is possible; Wengers team the other week cost less than Wigan had spent in the summer.
Too all the Blues who love Moyes, well your Blues and thats good enough for me; we all see things differently and have different expectations, but really open your eyes, your EMPEROR has no fucking clothes on!
This week has brought me back to reality with a sickening crunch. Last Saturday I was full of premature optimism, excited for the upcoming three games, even predicting a 1-0 victory over ManUre on the same site! Not gonna make the same mistake twice, I now think, reluctantly, with head not heart.
I don’t think a major shake up is needed. At this point I am pissed off with Moyes but still behind him - he may not give us the most stylish brand of the game but we have come such a long way under his leadership. Some incredible signings (Arteta, Lescott, hopefully Baines) cover over the mistakes (Beattie, Kroldrup, VdM); looking at the squad in comparison to 5 years ago is enough to put a smile on my face. Except - the smile turns immediately to frustration, clenched fists, irritability, because with these players we should be making a mark on the league, a thorn in the side of the top 4, and progressing easily past the likes of Metalist. This rant goes on, I know, but I need to get this out. Moyes, I am behind you, but I am not happy. Sort it out, or my anger will quickly affect my opinion of you, your tactics and your future.
One thing Ive noticed, is that I never see a gentleman by the name of Tony Marsh there. He is the answer to all our problems. He should have his own show. Yet neglecting general discussion and group activity, it really does show. Tony, you have to be the most negative person Ive ever had the pleasure of reading. Your every atom lines up its own very neuclei and sets it to self destruct. If you ever played football, youd be the guy with all the answers, but cant kick a ball to save his life. If you were a world leader, mate youd be George Bush Jr. So loud, and so offensive, youd take control rather than win it fairly.
I has taken me months of skimming through you writing, to finally get me to the point where, Ive just got to say enough is enough.
Ive got only question for you sir. Who do you support? Do you support Everton? Because Ive not herd you say one good thing about our club. Notice I say ours? Its not yours. Yu dont run it. From my perspective your a right wing looney. You should really go and support Manchester United. Im really sick of hearing your negativity. Every club has its ups and downs. You live exclusivley on the downs.
Name a manager youd be happy with. Im guessing its some kind of C3PO from Star Wars. A robot who calculates the effect of the decisions, and then checks to see if Tony Marsh is okay with the decision before making it. Is Moyes perfect? No. Does he have so much money he can buy anyone? Does he have the french african connections to unearth a team of supermen?
The only antidote for you is a letter writer who is so positive nothing that happens at Everton could be bad. Im going to call him Coney Parsh, the positive poster.
Oh but that wouldnt do! Someone exactly the opposite to Tony Marsh!! Ive never met a guy with a chip on both shoulders, but you sir take the cake.
But Id reckon youd critisize the cake too.
And the chicken that layed the egg to make the cake.
And the brand of whisk the baker used....
Tony, just take a year off. Critisism can be a very constructive method of learning and growing. But the way you carry on, really makes me feel sorry for you.
I just had a cold chill.
Imagine if you had kids. Nothing less that A+ in the Tony Marsh household.
Your positively
Cony Parsh
What a great supporter.
Oh and last time i checked, there are quite a few managers doing worse than Moyes...
or are you not living in the ’07/’08 season?
