New Kirkby Stadium Pictures and the Echo U-turn

I do agree with you that recently the Echo seems a bit more, well "balanced" regarding the various issues regarding the debate. However, I still have not forgotten how the editorial team at the Echo skimmed over alternative proposals to the Kirkby scheme by carefully positioning relatively important views on the debate in less obvious areas within the paper, when they would splash any comments from Wyness or Leahy across the front page.

That aside, my views of this new dayime impression reminds me of Boltons ground, minus the patches of greenery surrounding the reebok complex.
Just does not look or feel right at all in my opinion. It just looks soul-less.

Whereever the new Everton Stadium is built it MUST be bigger than the Liverpool Stadium.. This is setting the scene for the next 100 years... Everrton are to be the bigger and better side .. anything less than 70,000+ is negative

Also, don’t just pick on the third picture, to me they all look IKEA’ish and bland - they just leave me cold.

I was there after the United game and if that?s the standard of the protests against the move then you only have yourselves to blame when people do not take you seriously. Even my 15 year daughter said it was pathetic

David - what?s the point of building a 70k+ capacity stadium.

If you want soulless then try watching a game with 45-50k supporters in a 70,000 stadium, It feels half-empty and immediately loses any of the atmosphere.

One of the strong things about Goodison recently is that its always near capactiy. This adds to the feeling of the game. The problem with the JJB & Reebok and even the RIverside these days is they are half empty so it kills any atmosphere before you start. And it is the crowd that make the atmosphere- not the stadium!

I’m sorry but I just don’t understand why we would build a stadium with an option to fill-in the corners. Surely we fill them in as it’s being built or look like a building site for 20 years.

Will Tesco pay for the corners?

Will we get clubcard points for using Tesco to build the satdium?

If we do, we should go on line and quadruple the tesco vouchers into money off meals at some fancy restaurant. Perhaps that will pay for 50,000 fans to have some slap up grub?

I think the Stadium will look awful when finished, just wander round Liverpool today and look at all the shite looking lego buildings they are throwing up I bet they looked great on paper too.
I like the idea proposed on here a few weeks back about keeping the shape of Goodison with a 3 tier main stand and the criss cross pattern from the Bullens & Gladys Street.

Dont get me wrong i’m just a fat ignorant Yorkshire Pudding living in Leeds and get to Goodison as and when i can.
But don’t the renderings look an awful lot like Poject Jefinner right next to the Bestways site with a stadium lumped in the back ground?

Take a quick look at youtube, theres a video entitled Vote no to the kirkby project,what ever you may think about the move, i think most would agree this is a cracking piece of work.

Sorry lads.. that’s just not MY football!

There is no such thing as atmosphere and soul. I was at the sunderland game and for the first half the game had huge spells of silence. Only when the players upped the pace did the stadium erupt.

It takes performances on the pitch to create memories off it.

We should build something like the Allianz Arena in Munich. It looks awesome at night. If we are moving then we need a stadium to be proud of with nothing like it in the land.
