CD Everton on brink of Championship glory
CD Everton have broken into the top four and stand on the brink of winning the title for the first time in decades! On Thursday the Everton club in Chile play at home in the second leg of their championship semi-final play-off against Universidad de Chile.Everton travelled to the National Stadium in Santiago for the first leg on Sunday as underdogs, but a hat-trick by Argentinian striker Ezequiel Miralles gave them a 3-1 win. The winner shall go through to the final against Colo Colo or Nublense. If Everton should win the title, it will be for the first time since 1976. They would then represent Chile in the Libertadores Cup, playing the champions of the other South American countries.
Former Chile national team coach and ex-Everton player Nelson Acosta, the club?s fifth manager in two years, took CD Everton to the Championship play-offs this season after finishing fifth in the league, where for large stretches of the season they were leaders.
Thursday night?s game may be seen live on www.canaldelfutbol. com ? a pay channel charging $12 dollars per match ? at midnight GMT. Also this week look out for a feature on CD Everton on the programme Fifa Futbol Mundial on Sky Sports 1 at 17:30 GMT on Wednesday or 13:30 on Thursday.
Federico Ardiles, schoolboy Toffees fan and son of World Cup winner Osvaldo, has recently visited Chile to compile a report on CD Everton. CD Everton took their place in the semi-finals despite a disastrous start to their quarter-final when they lost at home in the first leg 3-0 to Audax Italiano.
The second leg saw CD Everton pull back two goals only for Audax to score midway through the second half to make the aggregate score 4-2 to the home team. Then a flurry of goals put the Ruleteros level before defender Cristian Oviedo scored in injury time to put CD Everton through on away goals.

Btw, What with you being based in South America with a keen interest in the footy down there; perhaps you have some knowledge on the abilities of the Brazillian players whose influx we are rumoured to secure?? Of course, it’s probably bollocks though!
Catch his excellent ’Der Ball Ist Rund’, the comprehensive story of Everton in Europe prior to this season. Highly recommended.
The Everton brain of South America is John Shearon who passed me the info.
Since he did, it seems tonight’s programme has been shifted from SS1 to SS2, seems they are giving extra special build-up coverage to some game in Moscow. It won’t be as good as the Everton game in Chile; coach leaves the Rocket at 11pm.
Well put together segment and quite interesting to see the other Everton doing well.
The Everton FC management should definitely arrange an end of season game against Everton Chile for their 100th anniversary next year.

I was in Viña 2 years ago and went to the Sausalito stadium in my Everton shirt. (Picks up somewhere on Joggers snapshots on Bluekipper). I looked everywhere for a CD Everton shirt in Viña and couldnt find one. So anyways I was in a bar in Viña watching the derby of Colo Colo vs Universidad. The bar was half Colo and half Universidad which is rare since they hate each other. I annouce to the crowd that whichever team wins, I?m going out to buy the shirt. Colo Colo won 3-1 and I own a Colo Colo shirt. Colo Colo are kind of like the Man U of Chile. Erm... guess who CD Everton are playing in the final?
MAKE MORE SHIRTS IN FUTURE!!!
C?mon CD Everton! I?ll burn the shirt if you win!
"Oh, you?ll not have heard of them," I replied, "it?s a team from Liverpool called Everton."
"Oh my God!" she cried. "That?s my team too! the Chilean one!"
It didn?t work out between Andrea and me but one day before I die I?ll go to Viña Del Mar and I?ll watch her dad?s team play.
Incidentally, if you?re on Facebook you can join this group and show your support for CD Everton here:

Viña del Mar has been waiting a long time ? 100 years in June. It will be great to have this win to show past and present players that have done us proud. Everton Forever.
Everton, bring it home the cup do us proud in Viña del Mar!
Cheers John
Requires a bit of updating but there is still a fair bit of information there.
