M'Bia's second choice?

I have to say I am very wary of M'Bia. We've been linked to this guy for two seasons now and I'm concerned about what his commitment level would be. There was so much double talk last season where he wanted to come to us, then wanted to go to Arsenal, then wanted to stay.
Now we have M'Bia's agent/lawyer trying to bleed more money from all interested parties by declaring that Marseille just needs to sweeten the pot a little more because he wants to play Champions League footy, but he'd settle for us if he had too (that's the inference from the Sky report). I don't know if he can be trusted ? I think he'd bolt at the first opportunity.

I see the bloke is trying it on again, just like kast time.
Now he prefers to stay in France and work with Deschampes...
Fuck him off!
I also have my doubts about him. In any case, I don’t think he’ll sign. Most of our signings come from out of the blue i.e. noone that the rumour mills seem to pick up.
Definitely givet his charachter a wide berth..nyarko anyone? Wrong attitude, much prefer to go for Cana
I’d be inclined to agree. He’s sounds like a money grubber firstly and a footballer second
If he is really that good then why wasn’t he snapped up last Summer by say Arsenal?
This looks like it could have Nyarko potential so best avoid?
Absolute tosser. There’s typical footballers agent manipulation and then there’s M’bia. How many times does he want to píss our fans off.
The comment about being glad he didn’t join us last year - should’ve been enough to put the nail in that particualr coffin. I can’t believe it’s resurfaced again.
What a cretin.
Yeah I saw that too:
"Stephane would love to work with him [Didier Deschamps], even if David Moyes is an excellent coach too.
"So it remains open. If Marseille makes a small additional effort, he will sign there. Otherwise he will move to England."
I hope it’s more a case of poor choice of advisors rather than this Isenegger actually speaking for M’Bia... but either way it amounts to the same dangerous and silly greedy game. I understand not wanting to close down your opportuinities, but surely this is not the best way to go about things. This simply puts question marks over M’Bia’s judgement and maturity... the last thing we want is a midfield Anelka, who’s going to angle for a move at every chance.
Now here’s a thought... if Marseille get M’Bia and he plays defensive midfield, it frees up their existing defensive midfielder for transfer... that player is none other than Lorik Cana
Hey presto... 2 birds... 1 stone... (and he wont bugger off to the African Cup of Nations next January).

Please Moyes, stay well clear.
This M’Bia character is clearly going to use Everton as a ’stepping stone’.
Why doesn’t Moyes go for Cattermole? Surely, he fits into the Moyes mould of being young, athletic, hard working, good at long range shots etc etc.
Come on Moyes...get your holiday over and done with and make my club better!!
It’s either tabloid bull or the usual smoke and mirrors from behind closed doors at Goodison. Don’t expect any signings until we’re on top of deadline day and don’t get any lofty ideas about signing M’Bia, Moutinho et al. Our best case scenario is a couple of loan signings, a Bosman or two and a desperate last ditch signing which they’ll pass of as someone "we’ve been following for years".
Nyarko, a name I was struggling to remember for a moment there. I wonder why? Why does it seem that the most ambiguous press releases emanate from players / agents from and involved with the French game? Any minute now we’ll be receiving a denial from the agent stating his comments were " iost in translation". The trouble is concerning M’Bia this has been a consistent theme. I hope the Moyesie is using him as a ’stalking horse’ while he closes in on a more suitable candidate. I can’t see him taking any chances on adding a ’wrong ’un’ to the pool given that we can’t squander our limited funds.
M’Bia’s not an Evertonian. You can’t expect loyalty. No matter who we bring in there is an implied disloyalty to the team they leave behind. If Rooney couldn’t be loyal, then why do we expect this guy from Cameroon to be. You can prefer someone who says all the right things but his agent is just doing his job. Otherwise why have an agent? I’ve watched M’bia play on Setanta, several times in the French league and if he can show the same committment on the pitch at Goodison as he does for Renne, I’d be happy to see him at Everton. If Deschamps is after him, it might be because he’s an excellent player. Would you prefer if we were the only option he had? What would that say?
So I take it that its safe to say that you lot don’t fancy M’bia then?
Spend the £12mil or so we were going to spend on him and go for Lee Cattermole at Wigan instead. Would cost a little less and in my opinion a far better buy.
I?ll admit, I've been one of those banging on about signing M?Bia because I've seen him a few times and he looks quality but all this stuff that comes out in the press about him is starting to fuck even me off now. I mean fair enough, he hasn't exactly come out and said himself that he wants to join Marseille... in fact, he said he wanted to join us only about a month ago because to him we showed we wanted him more than any other club but his representative would know where the lad really wants to go wouldn't he?
So I agree with Chris Dawson, let Marseille sign him up and we?ll take Cana off their hands for cheaper than what we would've been willing to sign M?Bia for!
I agree with the OP, it seems to make a lot of sense, and I particularly agree with Chris Dawson, I was thinking the same thing myself: Marseille can have M’Bia and we sign Lorik Cana.
Cana may be slightly less ’classy’ a player (not that I’m an expert I’m just going on what I’ve read) but he certainly seems a tougher, more determined character. I’d rather have him because of that, and particularly because he seems like he’d suit England better (as well as not being in the AFCoN).
I?d prefer Cana; would love to see him cut Stevie Me Lar in half in the derby.
I’m going to leave Moyes to dig his own grave on this one...
I expected a summer whereby a host of young and potentially world-class wingers were listed... Even spending big to nail our weakest link. Instead we target another defensive player who has more loyalty to his agent than any other. What happened to ’the right mentality?’
Transfers officially start tomorrow so In Moyes we Trust... but my belief is being seriously tested!
Jack Rodwell will probably become Carsleys replacement. Fellaini can be coached to play in THE position he was bought for and religiously played in at the start of last season.
Neville has played his best football for us in midfield... so why are we targeting M?Bia? Is he the one to bring us the extra 15 + points we need to crack the top 4? At £10Million I don?t think so either.
Frustrating? Time-wasting? Cracks appearing?
Pre-season is already upon us so I hope Moyes re-evaluates this issue.
Is there any official word from Everton about us actually trying to sign this guy? I don’t think we should get on Moyes’ case about it. It’s all M’bia’s agent doing the talking to try and get the most money they can for him.
I’ll put my house on us not signing him.
Let’s hope your right Alan.
Remember one thing in all of this, DM has led those that pursue all his transfer targets up the garden path before. Remember Souness at the barcodes 2-3 years ago with Scott Parker, I am confident he can outwit Hughes and O’Neill who once again seem to be linked with all our targets.
Michael Bradley will do nicely thank you.
Please people.... there has been nothing from Everton to give this any credit what so ever... This is nothing more than Mbia’s current club useing Everton to get a few extra million out of Marseille. The holding player next year I feel will be a deep play maker and it will be Arteta. Cahill And Fellaini will join him in the middle. We all know the left hand side wont change. Right midfield will, in my opinion, be a new player.
