Results or Performance

Comments (7)

Well there has been plenty said on here in the last few weeks about how poorly we have played, how inept David Moyes maybe tactically and with substitutions and how we shouldn't let good results "paper over the cracks".

So, regardless of your expectation level for the club, ignoring if you will any off-field shenanigans just for a few moments what would you rather — results or performance?

My personal opinion is that the two are not mutually exclusive — we should play better than this season's games suggest we can. However, I will merrily go all season WITHOUT any sort of performance, as long as the results stay as they have been for the last 4 weeks.

Do you agree?

As you say, they're not mutually exclusive. And as my esteemed colleague said on another thread, a year ago we had the performances and the results. No reason why we can't do so again with more or less the same players...

This season they haven't been putting all the effort in. It's like they use some energy but they still have some left.

I can't wait anymore, as an Evertonian I really need us to play Champions League football soon!

I really think DM come January should look at a few loans deals till the summer to push for a top favour place. (At the moment, the Man Utd and Arsenal are playing, we should go for it) Moyes needs to look at a few players that really making names in the CL.

Take Greek giants Panathinaikos players for example, why push for a loan deal for Gilberto and Bryce Moon till the end of the season (two great and on-from players in their squad).

Bremen's Diego, another player that could do wonders for us.

Sporting's Simon Vukèeviæ.

Some of there players would love to come and help us push for a CL berth.

Think we will get both on Sunday with Cahill and Yak in the goals.

We can’t rely on luck for ever for results. For one thing we are ther wrong colour as wer all know the RS sold their souls to Satan for decades of spawny bastard results and decisions going for them so its playing the game for me which should in turn lead to results. We have seen the same bunch of lads pass the ball about but despair when they revert to anti football trying not to concede rather than trying to score.

Ricardo,

Why would all these clubs who are challenging at the top end of their respective league?s lend us their best players in January?

Lee,

He has had a lot of stick lately but I think some of Moyes's subs have changed the game for us in recent weeks.

Obviously results come first but I would like us to play the lesser teams such as Fulham etc off the park every so often. The defence has tightened up a lot lately and, while we're not playing to our potential, we look solid and resilient and this alone will get us points as we are always likely to score.

Good football with the ability to grind out results on occasion is what I would like to see.

I think tomorrow could be a turning point for Everton. Midlesborough are an inferior side. We must approach the game with a top four atitude. No negativity and no looking at what they can do to us. Attacking, pressing 100% football. Let James Vaughan start with Saha and I believe it will be his day.

Results or performance is a difficult one. Let tomorrow be the day when it becomes clear we can have both.
