Change Of Kit Makers For The Blues??

Comments (14)

Heard a whisper a while back from a friend who works in the ticket office that we changing kit manufacturer. I was told it might be Nike. Upon reading this link, it looks as though we have signed a deal with Le Coq Sportif!! It kind of all makes sense seeing as though we are getting shut of all 3 first-team shirts at knock down prices.

Perhaps we’ll stop having shirts each season with new patterns that also feature on the shirts of our competitors!

I did note that earlier in the year Umbro were bought out by Nike? Does anyone know when our deal is due to expire, if it is not due to expire then it could be a rebrand as the contract is with nike now of which Umbro is a subsidiary but if it is due up then Le Coq could be in

As long as we have our new shirts for the summer I?ll be happy rather then wait til the end of the summer with 2 weeks til the season starts.

From my point of view, Umbro must of known it was coming.

Matt,
Everton have a contract with JJB and not Umbro. JJB then contract Umbro to produce the shirt for them.
Umbro are indeed now owned by Nike but I don’t think this has any bearing.
If the story is true then Everton are ending the relationship with JJB and are moving to Kitbag. Kitbag in turn will contract-in someone to manufacture the kit (eg. Le Coq Sportif) which Kitbag would then distribute.

@Rob,

iI was under the impression that the contract for the manufacture of the shirt was indeed as Matt said with Umbro (now owned by Nike) and the deal (or none deal) with JJB was as distribution and sale of offcial mechandise including shirts.

Although Nike own Umbro, it doesn't mean all Umbro sportswear will be rebranded as Nike. Most hightstreet shops and well known mainstream companies are actually owned by another company. eg. Seat and Skoda cars haven't been rebranded as VW etc.

Let?s not get carried away with the Le Coq thing...

Let's not forget it was them who gave us that shitty ?white bib? nonsense as worn by Lineker... Fucking orrible that was !!

Hope it?s Nike myself... have produced some good kits over the last few years. Plain shirts/shorts/socks/... no frills... just as it should be. Perhaps they might inspire a return to the amber/dark royal blue away kit... who knows.

Anyway anything to get us away from this "mass produced... every team?s kit is the same but different colours" shite that Umbro produce.

Matt Bone is correct, the two deals are separate. Umbro make the kit for Everton, and JJB distribute the kit. Also when Nike took over Umbro they said they would keep the Umbro name going. But as Umbro got such a bad press last season and rightly so then maybe Nike are thinking of a fresh start. Hopefully Everton are also thinking the deal with JJB isn’t all it cracked up to be either with little money to be made, interesting to see how the deal with Kitbag turns out, if it exists.

Always liked Le Coq, we and Argentina wore them in the 80s ;-)

Still too expensive whatever brand/distributor we go.

It’s not the shirts it’s the wasters who play in them and the head waster that coaches them.

Just wanted to give a HUGE thank you to all the people who gave the heads up on the shirt/kit gear that was on sale via the official store.

I got some awesome bargains and was like a kid at Christmas while unwrapping them.

THANK YOU THANK YOU! :-)
