Tim Howard - 4 class saves (one save of the season for me from Scharner).

Lightweight midfield at times and they lack confidence to get on the ball and pass it. The few times we have, we’ve looked decent. But if only Moyesie had a quid to spend in January for every long ball we play - we’d be able to buy Robinho!

Dick, although I know where you’re coming from it’s not fortunate to still be in the game when your keeper makes quality saves like that - Big Nev did it many times. But we didn’t make the most of a powerful start and didn’t create enough clear cut chances. First goal will win it - of course I hope it’s 1-0 to us. My money’s on our new left winger (???) Cahill.

We are not going to be anywhere near 4/5/6/7/8th spot in the Premiership whilst our midfield is devoid of any creativity or pace. We side pass everything , there is no way a midfield of Cahill,Fellaini,Arteta and Osman can compete at today’s game. It passes them bye .

As the radio commentator just said did Everton actually create anything tonight or just tried to score off long balls causing problems in Wigan’s rearguard.

Great time to loose vaughan - are only true pace player - get ready for mid-table scrap.

An absolute disgrace. No clue, no plan B.

Moyes Out!

I?ve been an apologist for Moyes before, no more. He has had millions more to spend than Steve Bruce etc. and he makes very bad sides look good. Our league position flatters us which is worrying.

Our football is horible to watch. I wouldn?t even call it football. Lescott looks a shadow of the player he was, played out of position. Arteta has been poor for two seasons. No more injury excuses. Cahill is only in the team for his ability to score... how many has he missed this season, how many holes has he left for midfielders to attack that have cost us goals.

Yakubu has had his good season, he will want his transfer fee in January. Osman plain not good enough. Pienaar hasn?t hit a decent pass all season. Rodwell, Felliaini, Gosling, Anichebe, Vaughn all a couple of years off being good enough.

Where now Moyes? No money in January, Bill you are a joke, always have been. Only bothered about a soulless tin in Kirby.

A failure for a season ahead. Makes me sick to my stomach.

Moyes is a shit house manager as he proved once again tonight. A shit Wigan team so we decide not to attack. After going behind with over 35 mins left our tactic is to take off a striker and put his replacement out wide. With minutes left and a striker on the bench, we put a left back on to continue our tactic of not creating any chances. We play with 4 central midfielders because he doesn't have the balls to drop one of them. Even when we are being outclassed by the mighty Wigan, Moyes refuses to change the game so I assume he is happy watching this crap. I for one am not.

As long as we accept such a cowardly manager, we will never go forward. Arteta & Fellaini were terrible today and both should have been substituted but Moyes doesn't have the bottle or tactical acumen to do this.

Moyes can fuck off now I?ve always supported him before this summer's joke and now I am watching awful game after awful game, knowing the manager won't do anything about it.

That was diabolical and so was Moyes tonight.

Fellaini was very poor today and should have been replaced at half-time. We need some width tonight and Baines should have replaced Fellaini with Cahill slotting in the middle with Baines on the left side of midfield.

Why on earth wait until 5 mins to go to throw him and to make it worse put at left back. We might as has gone for it and lost 2-0 than show no effort.

You would have banked on either the Yak, Saha or Cahill putting at least one of those chances away tonight.

One another thing, we need Arteta to get away from the set-pieces because they are becoming awful. How many times were they too long, too short or failed to clear the first man. This is happening game after game.

No confidence in Moyes at all. We changed nothing about our style at half time, even though Wigan had got the measure of us by then and had figured out how easy it was to get down the lines and put balls in the box.

Cahil was woeful tonight. Fellaini or Cahill in the middle, not both. The balance is completely wrong.

Well, that was appalling to watch!! Arteta looked lost and didnt look like he was interested, Cahill looks unfit and well off form and the Yak, well!! Anybody think he has had his head turned by the Spurs rumours?

Thank heaven for tim howard, he and Jags played well. The whole team needs a kick up the back side but it doesnt seem that Moyes is that man. I have always been a supporter but iI really don't know about him anymore.

Anybody know when Shandy?s back, how about giving him a game, pace and width with him and Peanuts on the wing, freeing up Arteta for the middle.
We may be 7th but 2 defeats and back down there.

Let's be honest, Anichebe is mid-championship level at best, Arteta is back in Spain with his feet up, Cahill is numb from the hips down on painkillers, Baines is dross. It pains me to say this next one but Lescott MUST be dropped, Neville is distinctly average. Oh what the hell, they?re all missing Carsley! Spurs, Villa, Man City and Chelsea next four games and we are only 5 points off the relegation zone... On top of that, no money for Moyes to waste on shite in January. If Fellaini was any good, he’d be at Arsenal. And Arteta, Lescott, Cahill, Yakubu - I could go on - need to earn their wages or bugger off. This has been the most depressing 4 months.

Totally inept performance in every position bar Jags and Howard. Arteta is a disgrace, I really didn?t realise he was playing until he drilled a free kick to nobody in the 2nd half.

Too many long balls from back to front by passing a non-existent midfield. No width when midfield did have the ball and that's down to the manager playing 4 CMs.

Shit.......

This shit just gets harder and harder to watch. We will be lucky to avoid relegation this season... Arteta?s set pieces are atrocious. Can anyone else take a free kick? His general play is rubbish as well by the way.

Lescott is NOT a left back, Jesus even Stevie Wonder can see it........... He?s poor defensively in that position and poor going forward and his crossing is like something you would see at an under-14 game.

Yak and Saha are trying but they are getting absolutely no decent supply from midfield. It is unfair to blame them.

Player ratings:
Howard 8 - Some great saves
Neville 6 - Solid but too much hoofball
Yobo 6 - Solid but too much hoofball
Jags 8 - Read the game very well and made some vital interceptions (bit too much hoofball though)
Arteta 4 - Awful, offered absolutely nothing
Osman 4 - anonymous, would look lightweight on the ladies team
Fellaini 5 - has a good touch but everything seems to be in slow motion. Must be wishing he stayed in Liege.
Cahill 5 - Tried hard, missed a sitter but just isn?t suited to a 4 man midfield.
Yak 5 - No service, looking forward to playing for Spurs in Jan I reckon
Saha 6 - Lovely footballer, looked sharp today but again living on scraps.

Also we miss Pienaar. We only picked up last week vs Boro when he came on. Tonight he wasn?t there. At least he keeps possession and moves off the ball. He also gets Arteta playing.
Worrying thing is that, apart from Pienaar, that was pretty much a full-strength team.
Do you blame the manager? Does anyone really believe he asks them to play like that. I hope the players are hurting tonight and that Moyes reads the riot act. The problem he has is that he could do with dropping half the team, but who do you bring in. If we keep playing like that we will be back in the bottom 6. Time for the players to stand up and be counted and play for the shirt.
Yet again we had outstanding away support and virtually outnumbered the home fans. Well done to those travelling fans. You deserve better.

Hey guys, wake up and smell the coffee. This result is no surprise at all. Apart from the second half display against Man Utd, most performances have been mediocre and they have been down right lucky to have gotten points in some of them. Everton have lost to some of the poorest teams this season which should underline one thing ? they are too. Arteta is playing like he wants to get away and the other 3 so-called midfielders are below average almost every week.

Why Castillo and Vaughan cannot get picked is down to poor management. Yaks and Saha cannot get past players and the midfielders cannot score goals anymore. Sure they will win some more games but the writing is on the wall for the remainder of the season, which generally will be uninspiring ? especially as they cannot win at home.

Not only are we playing rubbish football (bar a wonderful 45 mins) this season, but our prize assets are reducing in value by the minute.

Yak, Lescott and Arteta must have lost us millions in potential value in the last few months. Surely some of the younger players (with pace) can do no worse.

The longer the season goes the more worried I?ve become, and we are seventh. Bet we?re not in the top half come the end of January though. But David Moyes (NW manager of the year!) has got a responsibility in this and he continues in the same vein for gods sake. Unless of course he too is waiting for his opportunity to jump ship!

Does the problem lie with a defensive minded coaching staff that does not have an ounce of attacking experience between the lot of them? Why do our throw ins take so long to deliver are predictable and often gifted to opponents? Why in heavens name do we persist with Arteta?s useless free kicks and corners.

I confess to cynically jeering at our ridiculously pathetic attacks. Perish the thought but in an odd kind of way and for the first time ever, I found myself hoping that Wigan would teach Moyes and his naive crew a never to be forgotten lesson by hammering even more goals past us.

I blame the manager Mark, ok players were playing bad and no Moyes hasn't told them to play like that. But as manager he can change it. How many other mangers 1-nil down with 5 mins to go puts a left back on when he has a striker on the bench? No matter how bad he might be?

I?ve lost all faith in Moyes as he seems quite happy with the way we are playing, 4 Central midfielders because he won't drop 1 of them, 2 of them awful tonight but play the full 90 mins. Good managers change games; Moyes doesn't. Liverpool recently beat Wigan 3-2 at home, in the last ten mins they took off both full backs and brought on 2 attackers, trying to win the game, which they did; we put on a left back. Sometimes you do get what you deserve in football and we got it tonight as Moyes handed it to them on a plate.

We?re the easiest team to pick out in all of the premier league, except Stoke maybe but their one trick is harder to defend against.

The total lack of width today and against Boro is such a gift for any team defending against us. We lack the skills and movement from the midfielders to cut them open.

Coincidence and luck is our offensive game atm. Our only efforts through the flanks are when Lescott and Neville come forward, and we know none of them can whip in decent crosses.

Arteta : Why on earth isn?t this man dropped?
Cahill: Way off, left winger? Hardly
Lescott: Disaster waiting to happen every game. Allow so many crosses to pass him just standing around waiting.
Osman: Works, but to no offensive support.
Fellaini: Sure he wins his headers, but what else does he really give us?
Yak: Dangerous when he?s inside the 16, but when is he ever these days?

Jags and Howard were the only two to stand out a bit here.

And Moyes? Just how bad do you think our bench is? 2 subs, one given 4 minutes in a game where we were atrocious....

Just fucking devastated to have to sit this one through.

Whatever happens, the Messiah never reacts. He seems to think that he gets the tactics and selections always right, it?s always luck?s fault that we don?t win.

Cahill, Osman, Arteta, Lescott, Yakubu were so crap tonight. Still the "manager" wouldn?t change anything, he only took off Saha because he was injured. So pathetic!

Even the worst teams with inferior players try to play and they can manage some kind of fight when going behind but we never do it. One more evening not worth remembering but hey: that?s what it?s all about when you?re an Everton fan.

For the first time under David Moyes, I am going to give him some stick. The tactics and positions that he makes players play certainly leaves me baffled.

I live around 280 miles away from Goodison and I don't get to Goodison has much as I would like so watching on tv some times is my only way. However the last 2 games, Boro at home and now the Wigan game tonight have left staggered with Moyes.

The team has no width, they play long ball nearly all the time, hoping to pick up scrapes which physical teams like Wigan will just head clear and win back the ball. Why does Moyes continue to play Lescott at left back after spending loads of money on Baines, a natural left footer. Castillo or Neville should be playing to protect the back four because there is no protection with the current midfield.

Some of Moyes?s subs decisions are amazing, goal down, should be chasing to score a goal or at least have a shot/chance he takes Neville off for Baines, why? If it was to provide width then why take Neville off and change the back four completely. Im surprised with our current league placing, we don't deserve to be where we are. If we carry on like this I really do worry where we will finish the season. Is it time Mr Moyes to walk?

I?m afraid Moyes hasn?t got a clue, if he couldn't see at half time the way the game was going, well he should pack in. I am sitting there thinking surely he'll change this now... but deep down you just know he'll wait 'til it's too late.

Lescott's got to be rested, his season just gets worse and worse... let's have Valente back with Baines ahead of him so we can at least get behind teams and get some balls into the box. Arteta should accompany Lescott in the dugout. I'd rather give some of the kids a chance than put up with that shite week-in, week-out.

Five more years of this shite? Attendances are dropping and after that they will drop again, we play some of the worst football in the Prem?, slightly better than Stoke and West Brom but that's about it. Instead of his usual fatuous excuse-ridden referee blaming after-match report, we would really appreciate a genuine critical analysis from Moyes and what he will do to correct things. At the end of the day my fellow Evertonians, the buck stops with Moyes.

He sets out the team strategy. He puts the formation out on the park. I don’t think he knows his best combination or how to get the best out of his players.

Time and again player with the ball looks for a player making the overlap or the return ball, yet that player is never on the same wavelength.

Why are players not on the same wavelength?

Why are players not sprinting into corners, onto the wings, into space?

Why do players keep cutting back into the middle where we get crowded out?

I’ll tell you why...they are confused. The gameplan from Moyes is not clear.

Everyone criticises certain players, I don’t. I think they have no idea what they’re doing cause the direction from their manager is way off.

We’ve basically got the same team guys.

Seriously.

Moyes is trying to accomodate names instead of a balanced lineup.

Simple.

Tonight?s so called "performance" was nothing short of disgraceful. Mr Moyes is solely to blame in that he has no plan B and no tactical nous whatsoever when it is plain to see that changes are needed. We need an attack minded coach in the ranks that can teach Mr Moyes how to break quickly on the counter attack and insightful 1 and 2 touch passing which is quick enough to catch the opposition on the back foot. This will never happen if he insists on playing players out of position.

By the time they get control of the ball and realise that they are not playing where they want to or the ball is on their wrong foot the momentum is lost. Couple this with the fact that no one moves, then we are easy to play against. Time to bite the bullet and admit you are to blame for this so called FOOTball Moyes. Why not give Howard a go up front? makes as much sense as your team selections of late.

Well, that was fucking disgusting tonight! How we went five unbeaten I don't know because we haven?t been playing well for a long time now, apart from second half versus Man United, but tonight really took the piss!! That performance was absolutely clueless, passionless, spineless, toothless, thoughtless and the list could go on!!

I honestly thought we?d turned the corner after the second half of the United game, I thought we?d take that second half performance in to our next lot of games but it's failed to materialise!! Where was the commitment and desire and the willingness to play football the right way and to work hard?!Ffor basically the whole 90-plus minutes tonight, we gave Wigan all the time and space in the world to do what they like with the ball; not one of our players, especially our midfield, showed a willingness or desire to squeeze the ball and put the Wigan players under pressure, it was fucking shocking!!

I said it the other week on here and I'll say it again, one or two of our players, nar fuck it, a lot of ?em need dropping because they haven?t been performing at all. Arteta, Lescott, Yakubu, Cahill and Neville & Fellaini to an extent have all been shite, ok, Neville and Fellaini haven?t been as bad as the others but they have been shit!!

I feel sorry for Fellaini, ok his performance tonight was shocking but I think he plays better without Cahill in the side. When Cahill was out suspended, Fellaini looked like he was starting to pick up alongside Osman, he was scoring goals, his general performances was getting better... but then Moyesy brings Cahill straight back in and the balance of the team was all over place!!

Cahill and Fellaini cannot play together and the sooner Moyes recognises this the better, not one one of ?em is willing to sit back and protect the back four and thats why in recent games we?ve been getting caught out at left back when Lescott goes forward because no one as been there sitting and protecting the back four and filling in positions when players like to bomb forward as Lescott does, you notice tonight Neville hardly ever got beyond are right sided midfielder purely because there was no one sitting back ready to cover him!!

I tell ya what, I used to knock Lee Carsley something rotten when he was at the club, not for is defensive work but mainly his general footballing ability, but he was a good player for us. I didn?t realise how good a player he was for us until he?d gone! I didn?t think we?d miss him but we fucking do!!

If things dont start to improve at Everton, then I really fear for us this season, that performance tonight wasn?t even Championship standard and, with the league as tight as it is points wise, then a couple or so more defeats for us and we're right in the relegation mix!!!

Let's see what DM has to say about that debacle, he should openly tear into the team but he won't because he doesn't have an explanation, he?s a bluffer and has blagged his way to a mega-bucks 5 year deal, we?re stuck with him and his clueless, unbalanced, inept team. It's a fucking shambles and there is no way out, unless we get a super-rich new owner and he pays him and Round off.

Shocking. It was like watching a cup game and we were the no hopers from a junior league. Out-classed. Moyes has no idea what he is doing when it doesn?t go to plan... Baines for Neville at 85 mins and 1-0 down?

Why do we not pass the ball? How awful is Fellaini? Wouldn't Castillo be worth a go? Or one of the kids? And what does Baines have to do to get a game when Lescott is so poor at left back ? sell him to Villa which he wants anyway and spend the money on a midfielder who can run and move forward aggressively.

We were powder puffs tonight, beaten to everything everywhere... Only Jags, Howard and Osman can even say they competed... Spurs, Chelsea and Man City next three games, bottom five by Christmas. Disgusting.

Some of us have seen it coming for years. Moyes is a dinosaur, a PE teacher... he does not recocgnise skill, power or pace, all essentials in the Premier League. We have been very lucky so far this season, we should be in the bottom 3 now, and be under no illusions we are in a relegation battle. Europe? ... don't be stupid ? and forget entertainment.

The worst day for many a year was when Moyes realised no-one else wanted him and signed that nightmare contract! The fact that so many Blues have supported his clueless shite football for so long and that so many still say ?he?s the best we can get? makes me wonder if we really deserve any better. It's your fault for not seeing the Emperor's stark bollock naked and always has been!

I guarantee you the club is never bought, coz once Moyes has lots of money to spend he will have run out of excuses. He has always been an average manager with no tactical knowledge whatsoever. When you see the type of football Hull can play (a complete newcomer), then Moyes must realise the days of his style of management are long gone.... except at Everton; we have 5 more years of it!

I actually think this was a good performance. We played well and created some good chances. We outplayed Wigan in most periods of the game and I think we can build on this performance.

Ok, I am taking the piss lads. I?m as miserable as the rest of you. With exception of the first 20 min, this performance was dogshit straight from a dogs ass. We had practically no possession in the 2nd half and at times it felt like Wigan had three extra players on the pitch. Shit!

Even Doddy would be hard pressed to find anything good about that performance.

Humiliating and Gutting.

Like so many liflong Blues I’m losing interest in MY team because of the crap being served up. It MUST be the manager, look at the individuals and they are good enough to be 4th, yet not one of them seem arsed to be bothered.

Spurs were exactly the same until Harry came in and then what happens, he gives them confidence and they start playing.

DM has had long enough to get us at least regularly challenging the Sky 5 but we are as far from that as we were before he came.

Relegation is NOT out of the question on last nights (and not only last night) performance unless something is done before its too late.

Spurs Chairman bit the bullet and fired the Manager and look what happenend.

My fear is our chairman is so far up DM’s arse he can’t see wuther than DM’s tonsils !!

Something has got to change......

Barclays Fantasy Premier League has Arteta with the 3 Bonus points vs Wigan! Surely this is a joke?

I’ve stuck up for Moyesy since the summer debacle and I don’t totally blame him for last night’s shambles, if he picks players that simply play shite then what can he do. However, he doesn’t do himself any favours sometimes with his tactical decisions and subs, Baines for Neville on 86 minutes 1 nil down, work that one out?

The bigger worry I have last night is with Arteta, if a player gets passed the skipper’s armband then he should a) earn that honour and b) lead by example. I don’t think he’s had a good game since Fiorentina. I don’t know whether he’s injured, lacking confidence or just plain can’t be arsed. The biggest problem is the delivery, I’ve never seen such a drop in quality from a single player ever before, aren’t players supposed to get better?

Someone either needs to get hold of him on the training ground and put him through some Beckham style drills, or Moyesy has to be big enough to drop him and give him a much needed kick up the arse. At the moment he seems an untouchable, but Lescott was dropped earlier in the season so why not.

I’m sure we can see that quality again so I’m not with the dickheads calling for him to be moved on. How many people are crying about Carsley now? He just needs some man-management, and sharpish.
