Outplayed I can Handle, Outfought is Criminal

Comments (13)

I have read a lot of articles lately which state that David Moyes is to blame for the recent shortcomings of Everton.

Whilst I don't doubt that Moyes has made mistakes over the last few months, I simply can't believe that the performance on Monday night had anything to do with these mistakes.

We weren't out-played, we were out-fought. We have far, far too many egos within our squad. Mikel Arteta in my opinion must go. His attitude is one of the worst I have ever seen in a blue shirt. The frustrating thing is he has the ability but he doesn't use it.

Another culprit of this is Mr Lescott. He thinks he is far better than he is because of a few England call-ups. Let me remind him that they won't continue if he is repeatedly seen as an embarrassment for this club.

The third and potentially the worst in terms of effort is Yakubu. I don't want a goal machine that gives away as many as he scores because he simply can't be arsed.

Give me 11 Nevilles, Jagielkas, Howards and Vaughans any day if it means that I never have to witness anything like the 3rd division standard rubbish that I saw the other night,

Moyes has to make some big decisions in terms of who he plays because some players are massively getting above their station!

Chris
Although I felt Moyes (and the squad) was dealt a bad hand during the summer, it does not excuse the totally unbalanced side that was put out at Wigan.

Amateurs can see that:-

1. Cahill Saha and Fellaini cannot play in the same team.

2. Osman is not a winger

3. Lescott is a liability especially with no MF in front of him.

4. Baines would provide the width that?s obviously lacking in the team and is a good crosser of the ball.

5. Arteta is either going through the pain barrier or going through the motions but whichever it is he is currently a liability.

I totally disagree with you about the Yak. He has become our 5th midfielder because he?s not getting any service.

We won't solve all these problems at once because we haven't got the squad but why not give Castillo, Baines, Anichebe and dare I say it Van der Meyde at least some time on the pitch not last 5- or 10-minute cameos.

Totally disagree with you on Lescott. he seems a humble sort who is genuinely pained at his own loss of form.

Chris, Yakubu is a luxury player who will succeed in any decent side. If we have any aspiration to Champions League football then the hard workers that you name must support him. We have a fairly good squad coached by a man with a fearful, negative attitude.

Andy, Yakubu is no luxury, he is a lazy shite who has proved if he moves his arse he will score goals. He adopted this can?t be arsed attitude at the end of his Middlesbrough career and was sold. We should let Spurs have him and let them play with nine men with him and Gomes.

The best managers aren?t afraid to make BIG decisions. Will DM continue to tolerate Yakubu and Arteta?s seemingly continued indifference to the cause? Or will he for example have the courage to consider allowing Yakubu his move to Spurs in January. Rednapp has made no secret of his admiration. I don?t doubt the Yak?s talent but his commitment is piss-poor. We desperately need a holding midfield player of calibre and, for me, Fellaini just doesn?t cut it.

I couldn’t agree more. theres one thing being outplayed at the JJB but quite another being outfought. Wigan and Stoke are proof that if the team is willing to fight for each other and more importantly for the fans and the shirt then the results will come. That is especially true when you look at the talent within our squad. How do we get the fight back? I would have thought that 5,000 fans at the JJB stadium would have been enough to do that. Obviously not, I am out of ideas.

I think the total loss of form is down to MOYES losing the dressing room,Because the players realise. He has not got a fucking clue. And the scary thing is,5 more yrs.

I wouldn’t want 11 Vaughans.. We don’t have enough medical tables to cope with that :(

Top player and all he’s got as bad a luck as Cahill does.

Agree wholeheartedly... to be outplayed is acceptable but to be out fought and beaten in virtually every 50/50 situation is NOT.

I watched Fellaini totally floundering in the 2nd half and he should have been subbed and Baines brought on IN FRONT of Lescott. I have been SHOUTING from the rooftops to keep Lescott back apart from set pieces and play Baines IN FRONT of him because he has pace and can cross well...

My God, Clichy, Cole and Bridge are not giants but they have pace and play the role of wing backs. Lescott is not fast enough for the role. He is a good defender and that's it. It's obvious to me that a lot of the team are not enjoying their game at the moment and that must be down to tactics.

I would keep Fellaini as a sub until he has shown that he is fit enough for 90 minutes and the same goes for Osman and Cahill. They should be allowed to go all out for about an hour then be subbed. If we have decent first halves we fade badly.

Moyes is now moaning we ain't got no money to spend in January, De dums David! ? the shite you have bought is there on the pitch to be seen, you have had money and have made big money buys that have been shit. A clear-out is what is needed some players are not playing for the shirt, so big decisions have to be made... and by the way ? no money? Well you're looking great on it at £65k a week, eh?

All i ask for in an Everton team is to give everything for the shirt: ?If we lose, we lose... but we gave it a good go?. I haven't seen any of that this season; we?ve been second to every ball and out-fought in every game (Man Utd 2nd half apart).

There's no point in blaming one person or another ? it's the whole setup this season. The tactics have changed, the ethos of how we play has changed... trying to fix something which isn't broke springs to mind. Has everyone forgotten about Mr Round? If this is what he has brought with him then he must be the worst signing of Moyes's career.

Yakubu is a great finisher with the right players performing behind him and I don't think he is lazy but when he does get the ball why can?t he use it or hold it instead of falling on his fat fucking arse!

Disagree totally. We were outfought AND outplayed
I sat there at Wigan and saw what was by far our worst performance of what has been a season of poor performances ? apart from 45 mins v Man Utd and 10 mins v West Ham.

Two players looked to be clearly unfit ? Cahill and Fellaini ? and I don?t believe in criticising players who are playing below 100% fitness. Tim Howard was the one player who could claim to having a decent game but no-one else could. Some players stunk - Lescott, Yakubu, and Arteta in particular. Osman was just too lightweight and wasn't in the game at all.

We could all see Wigan's goal coming for the last 20 mins up to half-time and only Howard kept us in it. The big question for me is ? if we could all see that we were getting slaughtered, particularly in midfield, then how come David Moyes couldn't see it. It was vital to do something and change what we were doing. What did David do? Fuck all ? end result: lescott gets murdered again (for the umpteenth time this season) simple cross, simple tap in goal.

Apart from a bit of bluster from Tim Cahill towards the end, we had fuck all to cheer until the final whistle. Our substitutions were too late and pretty pointless ? Saha off; baby Yak on ? great... two lazy bastards up front. It's ironic that Moyes was bemoaning James Vaughan's latest injury this week as he has only been getting 5 mins if he was lucky.

Fuck, we have missed a big opportunity this season to push on from last year. But, hey, don?t forget the £1 reduction in home ticket prices!!!! What it is to be blue?
