Podolski... don't think so.

Just an FYI to the Rumour Mill 'rubbish' - Lucas Podolski will most likely leave Bayern Munich in the Jan. window but a number of top clubs are and have been chasing him for ages.... He's way out of our price range... transfer price will rocket and his wages will be too high... forget it....

If we had only snapped up his predecessor Santa Cruz 2 years ago for a fraction.....

Keep the heads up & keep singing.

Yes, folks, it's Rumour Mill rubbish time.

I must say the summer's constant stream of Rumour Mill rubbish finally did it for me... The whole thing is a total waste of effort and not one single story is worth a nanoogram of interest from me. I guess Lyndon is continuing to update the bloody thing but half of the 15 players we have been linked with since Sunday have yet to get a mention.

Enjoy you wonderings, people. Remember, the only thing that matters is who actually appears in the pics with DM at GP holding up the shirt... And even then, there is a significant chance that they will become frozen out and never used (Per, AvdM, Castillo).

The rumour mill has approx 500 entries (some of which include multiple players) since 3rd July 08. Only Saha out of our current signings I see that appears in our first team squad. (press ctrl+f in the rumour mill page).

1 in 500 chance I make it roughly that a player who appears in the transfer mill to make it into a blue shirt.

Some questions. What has Castillo done to offend the coach? Is Dan Gosling still an Everton player? Is Jack Rodwell a centre half? Why do Sheff Wed supporters tell me that Ian Turner is a great goalkeeper? What has Baines got to do to get a run in the side? Is Kirkby dead? Is the club for sale? How long does Goodison Park have left? Is Leon Osman any good?

I?d really like to know...

I am guessing Castillo was simply ’offered’ to Moyes before transfer deadline. And thus does not feature in our manager’s plans unless Arteta, Osman, Fellaini, Cahill, Rodwell, Pienaar, Neville(!) are injured or suspended. We may get to see VDM in action too.

If Andy van der Meyde gets a game I will be stunned. I agree we need wide players and like the looks of Arteta in the middle, but I just don?t know if Moyes can bring himself to do it.

Plus if he gets a run out with the attitude he has shown since he came, that's got to be a blow to the the likes of Baines and Castillo. Ossie and Pienaar on the wings for me.

I read today that Lee Hughes is available for £400k.

Given our stirker shortage and that his goalscoring record for the Baggies had been 1 goal every two games and since returning to football he's bagged (league games) 7 in 15 last season (injury cut short the season) and 9 in 15 so far, would he be an option for us?

Could we take a man with his criminal record or would that stop us and others from taking a chance on him?

Regarding the Podolski rumour, he’s had his heart set on moving back to FC Koln who are at the moment, 11th in the Bundesliga.

He knows he’d have to take a pay cut to join them, so can’t see any reason he wouldn’t do the same for us and keep more realistic hopes of European football as well (better league as well and I wonder if he’s mates with Ballack or Santa Cruz that could convince him).

Main competitors for him would be City and Spurs and if by January we’re significantly further up the league than them, who knows - can see Spurs back in for Arshavin and apparently City signings have to be okayed by Robinho anyways!...

Fingers & toes firmly crossed, but still doubt we’ll see this one pulled off.

I really hope we are still working on signing Obinna on a loan, but I don?t understand how it would be allowed this time and not last time... Chris Eagles wouldn?t be that bad, I saw him play in the Netherlands for NEC a couple of times, we can use a winger like him and he would give us squad depth.

But both players aren?t strikers. We need an extra striker. I expect a loanee like Brian McBride. Fair enough, I always liked the lad.

Does anyone truly believe we’ll actually sign anyone, even on loan?
By the end of January Vaughan will be fit, Saha will be fit again and it will be declared that they’re like having 2 new signings.

I?d love to see Podolski sign as he is a top world class striker, however:

a) Moyes has already stated we have no money in January, therefore likely to be a loan signing.

b) Moyes has a terrible record with strikers (Beattie, AJ and looks like Yak was heading that way), so why should we pay out £m?s more just for Moyes to ruin him?

c) History shows if we do show an interest in a top player, then the likes of Newcastle and Spurs just get involved and outbid us, and there will be no shortage of takers for Podolski.

d) If we did have £10m to spend this season, would we really want a striker? I know the current situation is very dire but hopefully in January Saha will be back and it?s not sure yet how long Vaughan will be out for. Cahill can also play as a support striker and Baxter deserves another chance and in the long term Yakubu will be back in six months (it will take a lot longer to pay back another £10m!)

If we had £10m to spend, I?d like to see Kightly from Wolves and McGeady from Celtic as out-and-out wingers. This would change our style of play dramatically either as an attacking 4-4-2 or a much more attacking 4-5-1. We could then have Arteta, Pienaar and Ossie in the centre to battle it out with Fellaini, Cahill and Rodwell. This gives lots more options, an attacking team and we could get both for a combined £10m.

Now here is an option not many would consider. Bring in BAINES to play left back push Lescott up front as an old fashioned centre forward. Swing in some crosses from the bye-line and kapoww! ? goals from Joleon will flow.

Don?t put Lescott upfront! I?m fed up of Moyes playing players out of position all the time, because he either hasn?t got enough cover or is unwilling to give his other players a chance.

Everton need to get striking cover during the January transfer window. With Yakubu and Vaughan out for the season, we can?t depend on the injury-prone Saha, nor the young but promising Anichebe to see us through to May.

If the reports are right, it looks like Moyes is considering a loan move for the Henrik Larsson. This, in my view, will be a mistake. Larsson is 37 years old. He hasn?t been playing competitive football for close to a year. We shouldn?t be fooled by his performances with Man Utd last season. Any player, at the twilight of his career, would be energized by a move to a club like Man Utd. What a way to end a career!

I?m sure Larsson busted his gut to go out on a high with the best team in Europe. I suspect that?s the reason why he didn?t want to extend his loan at Utd till the end of the season. He probably suspected that he wouldn?t be able to sustain his high energy and performance levels. He therefore wanted to leave on a high.

If Larsson ever comes to Goodison, it won?t be the same ?Man Utd? Larsson of last season. Everton will just be an additional paycheck to him. He will have nothing to prove with Everton, and nothing to motivate him to perform, except professional pride. And being a good professional, I?m sure Larsson will try to push himself, but I doubt he?ll bust a gut for us like he did with Utd. And at the age of 37, it?s likely that he?ll be out injured as often as Saha. So, getting someone like Larsson, at a time when we only have one fully fit striker in Anichebe, is going to be a big risk for Everton.

I?d like Moyes to consider some other options. I?m sure he is considering a wide range, but let me give some of my suggestions:-

1) Michael Owen ? Buy him! At £2 to 4 million, he?ll be a snip.

In addition to buying Owen, we should consider trying to get one of the following for a loan till the end of the season:-

2) Mark Viduka ? On his day, he?s a delight to watch. He?ll link up well with Cahill. As a lone striker, Viduka holds up play well and also has the ability to score phenomenal goals.

3) Jason Roberts ? He?s not having the best time at Blackburn. A good target man.

Just my views. Please feel free to add on or comment, which I?m sure you?ll do.

I agree with you on Larsson, but

1) Owen is more injury prone than Saha and Vaughan put together.

2) For Viduka read Larsson (age) plus about 5 stone in weight.

3) Jason Roberts seems to ring the right bells but has never consistently held down a first team place at his clubs so there must be a question mark about him.

I would prefer to give the kids a chance and beef up the MF with whatever money is available but I don't think Moyes will take a chance on Vic, Baxter or Lukas Jutkiewicz.
The money seems to be on Nugent at the moment.

Gary Dos Santos has a good point.
We could swap Baines for Martins who would suit our style of play.

What will happen is that the club will throw round rumours and make phantom bids for players they KNOW they will never get because the selling club won't accept magic beans and 2 quid a month. Everyone will get excited by the thought of new players and Bill Kenwright will once again sit on his arsehole spouting shite like, "the manager shows me videos of a player and I say YES that's the type of player we want at EFC. Mouthino I can say for certain is one we are after". Then we will get utter silence and end up with a last minute loan deal for Dean Windass.
Another transfer window, same old shite.

Henrik Larson in my opinion is too old but he is still playing professional football.

So for those who say he hasn?t played "competitive football" in a year you need to do more research. If it's because it's just the Swedish league and you consider that relatively non-competitive then shame on you.

Larson has played at least 20 games this season scoring 14 times. He has also played in the Euro Cup prelims.

Huh?? Baines for Martins?? Are people living in a fantasy world? Why on earth would Newcastle EVER agree to that? What’s in it for them? Martins is a gun, superstar, awesome talent. Baines is....well, no one really knows cause he doesn’t get a game.

Keep dreaming my fellow Evertonians, we ain’t getting Martins.

I like the Viduka option cause his ability to hold ball and play one-twos allows the 4-5-1 to flourish. As much as I love him though, too injury prone. We need some stability.

Viduka is a great player but hasn?t played in ages and is just coming back from a major injury. We need a sticker who can last half a season of consistent football and is eager to prove his worth. Most importantly we should be looking for players that don?t have factors that could increase the likelihood of injury. At 37 I?m not convinced Larson fits that bill.

Podolski is a world class player. If his club is willing to let him leave for any time I can?t see why it would only be a load. Plus if he was available other clubs will be in for him for sure. It?s a pipe dream and even if it were possible I don?t like the idea of letting one of our EPL rivals, with considerably more money become accustomed to Baines.

We need a sticker on the good side of 30 who has a some kind of track record and is hungry to either show us or his club that he is worth a start. If Moyes managers to get that kind of player in then hats off, but after last summer excuse me for having my doubts.

I think we are most likely to wait for Saha to come back and rely on Cahill and Fellaini to support Vic. Young guys like Baxter may have to get another call.
I?m not worried about relegation but if we don?t get a new striker I think we may end up around the 10th. position.

Sleigh bells ring
are you listening
in the lane
snow is glistening
A beautiful sight
we?re happy tonight
walking in a Kenwright wonderland
Gone away is the bluebird
here to stay is a new bird
He sings a love song
as we go along
walking in a Kenwrightwonderland
In the Summer we can sign a feebie
Then pretend that he is Moutinho
He?ll say: Are you married?
we?ll say: No man
But you can do the job
when you?re in town
Later on
we?ll conspire
as we dream by the fire
To face unafraid
the plans that we?ve made
walking in a Kenwrightwonderland
In the Summer listen to Bill Kenwright
and pretend that he?s not a circus clown
We?ll have lots of fun with mister Kenwright
until the all the kids knock him down
When it snows
ain?t it thrilling
Though your nose gets a chilling
Talk Bollocks all day
the Kenwright way
walking in a Kenwright wonderland
Walking in a Kenwright wonderland

Hi guys, just heard news that Buckley wants to move from Dortmund and it looks like his old club Almenia has opened their arms to receive him back. Keep in mind this former club is where he really made a name for himself in Germany.

I honestly think Moyes should have a go for him, it can be good for us, the player and for Pienaar. Buckley and Pienaar are very close friends and Pienaar once admitted that he can't figure out why Dortmund doesn't play Buckley to his stregths and that Buckley is one of the best wide players his played with in his career.

Best news of all, we can steal this player for less than £300k.

This would mean playing Arteta in a more central role, Buckley and Pienaar on the wings while it creates competion for positions in our midfield. Personally I think if Buckley joins us we'll see the best of Pienaar, cause one of his best friends and countryman could boost his confidence even more (please note that most teams always keep two players of the same nationality in their squad, cause they know what it means to their confidence).

We need to bring in two strikers ? simple as you need a minimum of 4 strikers to cover the starting XI and the bench. Let's assume Saha is back soon and Anichebe avoids injuries! I think Larrson would be an excellent short-term solution but we would definetly need one more. There is no money apparently so it would be a loan move. I think a target man should be the option ? Diego Militio or would Podolski be availalable on loan? Please not Heskey though. Viduka would be an option (don't even know if he's fit?)

We won?t bring in anyone big on loan or otherwise.

Two reasons.

1. We are skint
2. We have the pulling power of a fat man in a clown suit.

Stop dreaming about Podolski and Milito and any other big name you can think of. We will end up with some has-been or buy some Championship/League One player.

I notice Obinna is still rumoured to be a possible loan option. We all know we need wingers and strikers at the moment; I?ve seen this guy play and he can do the job in both.

This rumour would seem to be more logical as we have some history in trying to get him. I personally think this would be a good signing.
