I hope DM gives Jutkiewicz a chance if we need to go 442 and NOT NOT NOT use a defender or even midfielder

I’m just after watching Fellaini (3 goals in 11 appearances), interviewed on Sky Sports. Good to see the personality behind the afro! Smart enough it seems for a 20 year old. Then they show him warming up having the banter with Lescott. I didnt know Lewscott spoke french! well good to see Screech is picking up the english. I think he’s worth every penny for his age. He gives us a previously loacking composure in the midfield - so I expect the same today with a few incisicve passes today. And big Vic upfront - as said previously need the support. although he can be a bull on his day. remember when he dominated Terry alast season. more of the same please Vic. COYB!

Aston Villa look dangerous on the break, especially with A Young. Neville just can?t hold him at times and Feillaini collected a yellow card again. But overall Everton responded well to that Villa early goal. Cahill also came close and a Fellaini header headed off the line. Fellaini looking good again. Some really good quality touches.

Stefan,

I wish you were right. We?ve battered them the first half. Unfortunately, no premiership team can dominate for the full 90 minutes ? we haven't taken our chances, and you have to at this level. We should be 2 goals up.

I would expect them to have a better period in the second half, and probably win it, they are unlikely to be so generous.

Even so, this first-half display, for me, is one of the best performances of the season so far, so I?m happy with that ? that's an improvement to build on, and if we can perform like that against the mid-table teams, we?ll be sitting in the top half comfortably.

The early goal seemed to get the crowd into it. I agree with Jeremy, we should be ahead, we were wonderful and we?ll have a hard time sustaining such dominance for another 45 (or 51) minutes. If we keep winning every ball in midfield though, and the crowd stays up, it?s hard to imagine anything other than a victory.

A word of caution though, after again a very good 30 minutes, Villa have a strong bench relative to ours, in fact I would imagine moyes does not want to make a sub until he brings Baines on at 2-1 for Fellaini. With this in mind, it's really important to start the next half well and not end up chasing this game!!

A word to people who have been quick to criticise this season, I think Fellaini and Neville have been excellent so far!

Fellaini ? excellent game, my MOTM, I think overall we were the better team without creating too many real chances. What the fuck is that little wanker Osman doing in the Premier League? He would not get a game in my son's under-nine side. Howard should have done better for the goals also!

Bill H. ? I wish you were right, but I just watched the tape. Lescott scored at 92:07, Villa kicked off at 93:00. Young scored at 93:30. I?m not sure of the time added on rules. I know that time is added for every substitution, is it also for goals? If it is, then it?s only reasonable that there would be another :45 to play after the kick-off.

On another note ? i?m usually the first to slate Howard around these parts, but I can?t fault him for pumping the ball upfield in the dying seconds. We had just equalized, the momentum was with us, the place was rocking and the whistle was gonna sound at any moment. Why wouldn?t he try to give us a chance to win it at that point?

Osman did indeed have a poor game, gave the ball away a lot I noticed.

And where are our 18- to 25-yard-long shooters?? Anyone else noticed that we don?t seem to have players prepared to have a crack at it today a la Sidwell? Thought we were trying too many flicks/loops and passes back from those situations. That?s maybe why we didn?t press Friedel into more saves.

Overall, decent play, however; let?s hope for Obinna or similar in Jan!!

Villa never came close to scoring (without Tony Kay?s involvement, that is) after the first few minutes. I think that most of the gk?s in the league would have punted that ball upfield in that situation.

I?ve never seen Agbonlahor pull a disappearing act like that, I thought that he liked playing against us.

I really wanted to have a go at Howard for being the worst in the league in a one-on-one, but I?ve forced myself to watch both of Young?s goals again and there wasn?t much that Tim could do. AY finished with precision both times.

Now that fucking goal against Boro, that was another story.

Chris Stone ? with the exception of Castillo?s goal vs Liege (for which he was instantly rewarded with having his ass crazy glued to the bench), I am quite sure that an Everton player has not attempted a shot from outside the box in open play since Pip looped that one in during the home match with Villa last season.

Good game for the neutral to watch... up to the last 12 secs not bad for me. I thought we played well. Screech looked good apart from not tracking back, Arteta played better but still shouldn?t take every dead ball. I felt sorry for Jags, where was the shout? Big Vic is not a Prem player and on today's performance ? neither is Ossie. Desperate for a striker, all that possesion and we lose? Why play Screech and Joe up front when we have strikers on the bench? If not good enough GET RID... or play them. We where the better team out there. WTF is going on?

If the kids on the bench are not good enough to play when we have a striker crisis, then what the hell are they doing at the club?

Once again dithering dave left it far too late to bring on his subs, Osman and Piennar ran out of steam and either one should have been subbed. Why take off Pip? Why at the start of each half does Arteta gather his mates around and issue orders. Shouldn?t the Manager already have given the instructions out?

Seriously, I?ll be happy with a mid-table finish this season. Oh and Celtic lost today or indeed there is the Sunderland job ? just a thought Dave!

Have we not got someone else to take them to mix it up a bit? Last time I remember someone else taking them when Mickey was on the pitch was Stubbs.

After what has happened this season, this is the best we have played, we just need a striker... Who? Nugent, worth a pop on a loan; Heskey, definite if we could get him although, given our record, no chance; Vagner, can?t afford him, cheap option who would suit 4-5-1: Kevin Davies from Bolton

Lescott is to blame for there third he played a player who was miles offside onside. That and he hasn?t played well at centre half at all this season when asked.

But honestly what does Lucas Jutkiewicz have to do to get a game? That must surely dent his confidence. His agent should start looking for club for him.

I can undersatnd people being upset at the manner of the defeat at the end, but blaming Moyes for it is just beyond believe. He was not responsible for 1 of the goals scored today. The first was a cracker, the second was player error and the third... well the whole team seamed to collectively panic when the ref didn?t blow up straight after kick off.

As for his substitutions... they worked didn?t they? We got the equalizer.

Don?t get me wrong... I?m gutted... absolutely sick... but I?m also proud of the players as they gave it everything they?ve got. We played well and lost ? something many a contributor on here has said they?d prefer to playing badly and winning... you?re obviously all liars!

My thoughts on the game:

I think it's a bit harsh to slate Moyes for his substitutions because they almost worked. Baines and Shandy both made decent contributions to us almost slavaging a point. The fact that the defence let us down at the death has got nothing to do with the manager's substitutions.

Why slate Vic? His movement was pretty good and he did a decent job occupying Villa's centre backs.

Whoever was arguing that Arteta shouldn't take all the set-pieces obviously went to get a cup of tea when Osman, Pienaar and Shandy took theirs.

Cahill was poor today. I don´t like the idea of both Osman and Cahill in the same midfield.

Baines should play more at left-back. I think he could combine excellently with Pienaar down the left. The 2 centre-back spots should be contested between JL, Jags and Yobo.

We need some extra width ? there were a few times when central midfield had the ball and they had to play too narrow as there was no one available out wide (Osman was more guilty than Pienaar).

In all honesty you have to ask yourself what could Lucas Jutkiewicz have done better than Anichebe today? Has anyone actually ever seen him play? Everyone seems to think just because he is young as with all our young players that they must be good enough. I saw a lot of those players in pre-season and to me not many of them look anywhere near ready for the hurly burly of the Premier League..

I would just like to wonder where the fuck our scouts where doing when Ashley Young was at Watford?? If we had a player like him then our game would have a totally different dimension about it. I cannot honestly believe Moyes is happy to stick with Osman permanently.

Arteta has looked more like the player of old after being restored to the centre of midfield where he sees far more of the ball. Our biggest problem is why do we always switch off so much? We did the exact same thing against Villa at home in April, against Blackburn on the opening day, how many times before we learn? Why did Jagielka feel the need to go back to the keeper anyway?

I personally hate the way players do that so often as I have lost count the amount of times if you get it wrong it leads to a goal for the opposition. Ferdinand did it for United when Yakubu should have scored only two months ago. You would think after the way we have defended this season that we would be more careful.

Our home form is a major concern and at the minute its only our away record that is keeping us from the relegation zone how long we can keep winning away is another matter but certainly I would think we need to be looking for three points at City again just to get our home form off the hook for another week especially with Chelsea after that.

The saddest thing is right throughout the season we have contributed in most matches to our own downfall and only against Portsmouth and maybe Liverpool have we been beaten well. Even against Standard Leige in the home leg we had only ourselves to blame. The Premier League is competitive but its not great and at the moment we are making teams look better than they really are and we need to really find that consistency quickly.

We played well today but the same old downfalls that have bugged us all season came back to haunt us again... Basic errors. How can we go from putting in such a perfect performance at Spurs to being a rag bag defensive showing?

Jagielka has been great for us but I agree that sometimes when he has the ball in possession he seems nervy and that backpass was just horrific, especially at that time. I thought we looked more like winning than they did, you simply cannot compensate for gaffs like that.

Villa aren't great at all, not by any stretch of imagination, and they may like to think they will break into the top four but having seen them at their best and Arsenal at their best I know who my money would be on but they are not really my concern.

My concern is we gave them the win on a plate like we have with many teams this year. Can anyone see us keeping Chelsea out in the next home match?? I think if we won that one it would be the win of the century. Can't remember the last time Everton went past Christmas with only one home win.

Never contributed to this before but felt the need to express my initial shock at seeing us concede 3 soft goals again and lose a match in which we turned in our best attacking performance of the season.

On reflection now, there are defo positives ? Fellaini going to be a top player, Joleon back in the goals, Jags getting his mistake for the season out of the way and Pienaar buzzing around well.

The big negative is Victor?s inability to be anything other than a nuisance off the bench ? worried that Saha will be basically injured all season and that we?ll only get a piss-poor loan signing in January, like Dave Nugent or something.

What game do you people watch? Big Vic played well up front on his own and was a real handful for the very good and experienced Laursen.

We played well and didn?t deserve to lose. It was not like Wigan the other week when we stank the place out. We got stuck in and gave them a real good game. Unfortunately, today was down to one or two individual errors rather than a poor team performance. If we play like that we will win more than we lose. Will you lot please lay off Moyes. We have played worse and won.

This season is really open and it wouldn?t surprise me to see us win at City next week.

We have got the best man for the job. Support your team and get behind the manager and players.

And yes, Vic was injured and yes Juktewicz is rubbish and is slower than me. He is only there to make up the numbers. It will take minimum £15 million to get a striker that could improve us. We don?t want crappy loan players like Nugent or Larsson. For whatever reason, our great club has no money. Today?s attendance was pathetic. Just over 31,000. How the hell are we going to fill a new ground. What a joke.

Jesus! 6 hours on and I think I can talk about it now. Can?t remember the last time I felt so angry at the end of a game. At least in the good old days of football hooliganism you could get rid of all the pent up frustration before you went home by chasing the Villa fans up the street pursued by the coppers. At least that way everyone got it out of their system in about ten minutes flat! I took my nephew along and couldn?t talk to him all the way home ? sorry Tom.

What a disaster! Having bust a gut to get back level, to go and do that! They looked like they had all lost it in a desperate effort to get it forward for one last possible chance. (And that?s what we were all yelling at them to do.) There was no-one with a brain switched on to make sure the back door was bolted shut (Phil Neville, where were you?). There was no-one in the right back position, Yobo and Lescott were all over the place and Jagielka was...? Oh Jesus, when are we going to learn from mistakes at the back???

Otherwise, I thought Anichebe did ok and needs a bit of faith shown in him and a run of games before we make our minds up about him. And didn?t you slaggers notice that he was limping and hardly moving for the last 15 minutes he was on? Arteta is in the right place now ? more sharp shorter passes in to forwards feet please, Cahill and Fellaini together? Not sure that one works.

We desperately need a genuine left-sided midfielder though and at the back - 2 from 3 for centre back please and a real left back. What about Howard? Compare to Friedel who made two important saves at vital times. Howard doesn?t seem to do this. First goal, struck hard but it wasn?t out of his reach. Second and third, look at him just before the ball is struck ? already on the floor. Not sure about him.

Oh and nice cameo from unknown shaven-headed winger at the end. Who the fuck was he? And some shooting from outside the area would be nice once in a while.

Finally, had a bet for Cahill to score first in a 2-1 win. For 31 seconds I thought I was in with a chance....

They had 3 players- Laursen who played well, Sidwell who kicked anything that moved, & Young who had 3 chances, 2 presented to him, & scored twice. I feel more optimistic today than all season. Great support ? at the game if not online ? as well.

Andy Emett? Did I say lump it in the box? No, I said "How about a bit of variety?" It just pisses me off when I know the quality Arteta can deliver yet fails to, our first goal was created by Peanuts flick off a short free kick.

Anyway, that's not the be-all and end-all... we played well. I thought Ossie was poor and Vic was not on same wavelength, Jags cocked up but he has been superb this season. Scoreline apart, the performance is going in the right direction.

Get Lescott up front! He?s a natural finisher, great in the air, good with both feet!! Would love to see Moyes gamble with that one!

VDM - proud of you son. What a way to come back! We should have fouled Young as he was dribbling through our swiss cheese defense (hate to say it ? as Rooney did when he took the yellow when he did the professional job on Sunderland as they looked likely to level it at the death).

Gents, the comments we raise on this forum just show how passionate we are for our team. I personally agree with a lot of comments made particularly Iain and Vinnie who like us all would dearly love us to waste every sodding team that turn up at Goodison and smack their arses big time.

My disappointment is with those individuals who are inconsistent and do not deliver 100 %. If I performed that way in work my P45 would be rammed down my throat.

Regarding Mr Moyes, we should and will stick by him (I don't know who else that is better would come as manager). I just hope we can bounce back against City, Thank God it's away. Good Luck COYB
