The Other Johnson?
Comments (21)
Is it just me or does the news that Michael Johnson may very well be on the outer at Man City get other people's pulse racing? He's young, powerful and can score some cracking goals... Lordy knows Everton's midfield could use some more muscle to balance our current batch of skillful, but slight midfielders. And Screech might look big, but powerful he ain't...
And the murmurs that it is Johnson's attitude and work ethic causing problems further strengthens the argument for Everton to consider him. One of the hallmarks of Moyes is instilling a strong work ethic in his players and it seems Johnson may need just such a kick up the backside at this point in his career. Another potential star of the future for the England squad and I think he would be a great fit amongst the boys...
And YES! I know he has 4 years left on his contract, so he wouldn't come cheap and we apparently have no money to spend. And I also know we need strikers more than anything, but it's still nice to dream isn't it?

I DO want to speculate on January and who I want to come in is Carlos Vela on loan. The lad looks class and if West Brom are in with a loan chance then I reckon Wenger would rather send him here. Failing that I'd take Nugent with an option to buy at hugely reduced rate as I really don't think he's had a chance at Pompey.
Similarly Shandy 'coming back' at Villa was encouraging if only to give us another option out wide. Fact is, he gets paid by the blues and as long as that happens I'll support him on a match day ? same as anyone else.
We'll definately get a striker in some capacity but I doubt much, if anything, else. I can't wait!
Johnson plays exactly the same position as hairoil...
Diarra is what we need...no chance though..
Get your pulse racing? Are you serious?
He?s a big time Charlie, thinks he?s a lot better than he is supposedly. He hasn?t even made it yet, I?d rather see how he develops at City. He got hyped up over ten good games in his whole career.
I couldn?t see him adding muscle to our midfielder either to be honest, for such a big lad he?s quite lightweight. Like Fellaini he needs to fill out.
Manuel Fernandes is what we need...
Actually Connor... you?re right... he?d fit into the middle nicely with Arteta and hairoil...
Yes, Manny is the man. Saw him for Valencia recently on the box and he made a great impression, especially compared with rest of his teammates. He?s strong, an accurate passer and I can?t understand why we paid £15M for Fellaini ? though I think he?s shaping up OK ? when we apparently only had to fork out £12M for Fernandes!
Ciarán, what’s with this "hairoil" nonsense? Is that meant to be some derisive reference to Fellaini? I would associate hair oil with Dapper Dan... if Fellaini uses anything to keep his mop in place, surely that would be hairspray?
I know sadly this ship has passed but how is Fernandes getting on at Valencia? Is he a regular?
Just a thought on the January window and incoming players whoever they may be.
Will we have players already in to hit the ground running for Macclesfield away or will we be left dithering at midnight on the 31st January. This could make all the difference, assuming we progress in the only cup left for us, there is another round and 3 important league games in January, so early activity is vital to our season.
I can only assume that as usual with our management it will be end of January still waiting!! Out of the FA Cup and mid-table mediocrity. Please, please surprise us?
He’s been class at Valencia, one of there better players. I think there 4th in La liga aswell, I could be wrong though.
I always said all he needed was a run of games, he’s revelling at Valencia now. Such a shame...
They are bankrupt though supposedly, so a few of there big players might move on.
The best signing Roy Keane made at Sunderland was Richardson. I?d love to see him here if we could offer some sort of swap deal. Any thoughts on who DM might consider to be surplus to requirements?
Elano and Vela would be great business!! Failing that, I hear that Manucho at Manure is pretty good and Davie has a preety good relationship with Fergie...

Would rather see a class winger and class striker come in. Think the middle is fine. Mikel will do REALLY well in the holding role, he?s excellent at receiving ball frome defence then re-distributing, and I think once Fellaini picks up his work ethic, he?ll be fantastic too. For all his detractors, I think he?s done really well and looks a great prospect.
We need more width, and clearly with the injuries, another striker.
The last thing we need is yet another central midfielder. Wide player has to be a long-term priority, with a striker coming in for the short-term.
LOL.... sorry Michael... hairoil is used colloquially in the occupied six as a pejorative reference to anyone with a dodgy barnet.
It is obviously, a contradictory reference.... maybe I?ll just call him soul-glo...
Either way, he should get it cut (even though I?d kill for hair like that).
And YES! I know he has 4 years left on his contract, so he wouldn’t come cheap and we apparently have no money to spend.
Which of course is why it won’t happen. If January is anywhere near as bad as the summer window, it might well be worth taking yourself away for a month to avoid the inevitable speculation that we’ll be signing the world and his wife.

It shouldn?t be a dream, he was played in the Everton academy but the idiots in charge let him go? I seem to remember the same happening with Baines, Jagielka and Barton.
I?d love to see a couple of wingers. Elano could do a job, as could Joaquin at Valencia ? we were linked with him a while ago and they are in financial strife, but he's still out of our range I think. Gamst Pedersen at Blackburn would be good on the left, or that chap from Cluj last night Culio, he had a decent left peg. As for a forward I would like to see Dean Ashton, I think he could provide something different to our forward line, someone who can hold up the ball.
Everyone knows were getting Shefki Kuqi for £1 million in January.
Watch this space!
If you're getting Kuqi for £1 million then I will personally pack his bags, make his sandwiches and drive him to Goodison with pleasure. Believe me I watch him week-in, week-out at Palace and he is woeful at times but highly amusing...... If he mastered the art of kicking the ball straight then he might actually be a good player!
Shefki for a £1M :)
To be fair, he’s done okay for us this season and when he puts himself about, can be a real handful. But, as Gary said, he is woeful sometimes and if you offer us a £1M, we will bite your hand off....!
