Settling in

Following on from Vincent Kompany's comments that he believes Fellaini will become Everton's 'main man', I just wanted to give a mention to something.
If you catch Cahill's goal at Man City again on TV over the next few days, keep your eye on Fellaini as the celebrations move towards the corner flag. It was the first time I've noticed it, but it was nice to see how Fellaini celebrated with Tim & Joleon. He really looked like he's settling in now and enjoying it at Everton. It spoke volumes about the team spirit at the club, which you could argue has been lacking somewhat since the season we finished 4th (pre James Beattie).
I really value what Fellaini offers us to the team, his movement, passing... and I don't care what anyone says, but I believe also his tackling to be one of his best attributes. We finally have that intelligent presence in midfield that we've needed for some time, and the best part is, he is only going to get better and better. Couple this with the switch of Arteta recently into the centre of midfield, I feel all we are lacking (bar the unfortunate striker situation) is two pacy wingers.
Thank you Marouane for choosing to play for our great club. We are right behind you and we believe we have, potentially a world class player in you.

You know what Steven? I thought I was the only one who noticed how fast Fellaini ran to the corner flag and how long and how hard he was hugging Cahill and the smile on his face says it all.... I felt exactly the same way you did...
It’s amazing to see Fellaini react the way he did when Cahill scored... it just shows that this team is really "fighting for each other" now.
Chelsea next... and it’s about time we smash them.
I think a lot of it has to do with how Cahill is seen in the camp as well. Obviously I don?t know this for certain, but it seems he is very well liked in the dressing room.
As much as Cahill hasn?t been in form for most of this season, I believe he brings a lot more than just his goals. Don?t underestimate how much Cahill is the reason why the team spirit is so good.
Hey there, Mick Wrende, apropos the above and I didn?t say a word.
Good point Steve, though I havent seen enough yet to convince me he is world class, but the signs are very encouraging lately. The lad has got potential, I hope he can cut out those silly challenges he is making. But that comes with experience.
I found Cahill’s reaction much more significant to be honest. It seemed to be one of complete relief. He has really lost his way this season, and lost his status as one of the club’s top players.
That seemed to show on his face when he scored. It was like he didnt believe he would ever have that feeling of scoring a vital goal again, and it overwhelmed him.
Hopefully that gives him a shot of confidence, and helps him believe in himself again. If we can get something out of Chelsea, then we could be back to full confidence. When the back four believe in themselves, that seems to infectiously spread throughout the team. And when Arteta is playing well, our forward play really ticks. It seems to inspire Ossie and Peanuts.
Not bad considering a month ago we were getting relegated according to some fans eh?
Very good shout, Steven, for once the kid Fellaini is getting some praise. Most posts seem to go the opposite way with negative remarks, the lad did not put the price on his head. And it's for all to see, that he is gelling in, and getting better each match. Long may it continue.
Fellaini is a good player. For a tall bloke he has very good feet. This is exceptional rare, found in a few players like Zidane, Van Basten, Kaka and.. Fernandes(!). All 6 foot plus with touch on the ball. I hope Moyes can accommodate him and not turn him into workhorse Carsley (nothing against Cars but Fellaini has much more to offer).
Everton 9/2 to beat Chelsea, with BLUE SQUARE, has Christmas come a little early? Fill yer stockings boys (and ladies, ahumm)... with talk of questions in their dressing room of team selections, all may not be well. Now is the time, COYB.
Fellaini is a class player. Great touch, good passing likes to get box to box. Maybe sometimes he seems to jog around the centre of the park too much as opposed to pressing quickly but maybe that's just the way he has played over in Belgium as the game is a lot slower. He offers us something different. We should focus our game around him as I'm yet to see a team who can deal with him at set pieces. Also I'm a believer that if his hair was shorter he would generate more power in his header as that hairdo will cushion his headers... COYB
World class? Not a chance. He simply doesn?t have enough to his game to be a world class central midfielder in my opinion.
He is a good player though, I?ve always said that. And the best thing about him is there is nothing like him around at the moment, he?s completely different to every midfielder in the League and no one knows how to handle or contain him.
Definitely not world class but there is potential there and he could be very useful to us. He is certainly a handful and he?s awkward which teams don?t like.
I?m pleased with his progress here, let's hope he continues to improve.
Fellaini is one of the best attacking players we have available, which is why he is playing up top or in an advanced position from midfield.
However, I still think he is a much better Defensive Midfielder and in the current situation, is a testament to the guy's qualities. The guy is so good that the worst part of his game (attacking) is one of the best we have!
I think Fellaini is the first player of a new generation at Everton, and when Moyes finds the equivalent class in attack, I think we will see Fellaini start to show his true potential as one of the best Defensive Midfielders in the game.
I think this shows yet again that good players are not always in the obvious places.
Cahill, Lescott, Arteta, Pienaar all have arrived with something to prove from unglamourous backgrounds.
Moyes could do a lot worse than have another scout round countries like Belgium, Germany and the Championship.
It?s good to see Fellaini show what he is capable of. I actually believe that his huge transfer fee is one of the reasons for his improvement. Quite simply, Moyes has been obliged to play him in every game and his confidence has grown. Had he come here on loan he?d have been consigned to the bench after three games. Castillo deserves the same chance and if Baines was treated similarily we would have, at the very least, a full back with a decent sell-on value.
Isn?t it galling that if we had beaten Wigan and we hadn?t have let that stupid third goal in against Aston Villa at Goodison a couple of weeks ago, we would now be sitting pretty in 4th place instead of them!!
I would not over-hype Fellaini. He offers something different from your average prem MF player but for me he is too slow and clumsy.
When chasing back he is always a yard behind the opposing player which is why he picks up so many yellow cards (at least 1 every other game).
To be honest, I wouldn?t expect any less from Moyes of buying a player for £15 million. I think he has got the potential to be world class as there are not many Under-21 players better than him in the world at the moment. He?s definitely in the top 10.
The thing I like about Fellaini is the way he wears his hair. Even the ?Fellaini wigs? you see at Goodison aren't as big as the actual Fellaini barnet. It really is amazing.
The one thing I remember about the Carling cup semi finals last year against Chelski was how much more physical they were than us...hopefully fellaini will go some way towards balancing this up, this game could be a huge turning point for both teams
Great to see a thread showing some positive comment, and for for a player who despite not performing at his best ? (who is?) ? is clearly working hard. We keep hearing how slow he is, yet it's amazing how often he turns up in both penalty areas ? defending and attacking ? so maybe he has ?deceptive? pace to add to his other attributes. I also like his expression of disbelief whenever he is penalised, "duh, I thought it was supposed to be tough in da Premier League!". He?ll get there and be a great asset for the club. Nice choice Moyesy.
Just want to echo the positives (and the comment on over hyping) on Fellaini, and also note that he will only get better over the coming seasons. Thoughts on pacy winger ? McGeady from Celtic? Out of favour and has performed well in the CL. Don't know what he?d cost though...
I love Fellaini and I love his hair ? don?t go changing.
Sorry, I?ve got to say this... imagine him and Manny in midfield... Sigh!
