Everton in Liverpool 1
Comments (43)
Okay... and about time ? Everton are signing a lease in Liverpool 1 for a decent shopping space. confirmed by a reliable source. The shop will open in July 2009.
It would appear that Mr Wyness was indeed a waste of space in relation to EFC City wide domination.

Ah! Good news indeed... and does this means the credit lies at the feet of that eminently likable man, Mr Robert Elstone, CEO?
This was always going to hapen, Wyness no Wyness, Elstone no Elstone Dave Jones no Dave Jones... Come on, guys, we're not as small as even some of you fans think, course we're going to be in a major shopping centre in our HOME CITY!!!!!!!
Dave Jones the question as to why we were not tenants when the precinct open is the real deal breaker, shambolic marketing FFS Liverpool 1 has been known about for years and remind me what year is Capital of Culture oh yeah it’s not 2009.
If only they could also sell match tickets there too, it would really boost our attendances.
The reliable source is a guy that posted on a message board (grandoldteam.com). Basically, he says, and I?m quoting:
Dad works in L1 as security team leader, just told me he let surveyors in at 9am this morning to look at a shop to let next door but 1 to the shite?s shop. The surveyors in question were from Everton and the shop will be open in May. At last they?ve pulled their fingers out. Me arl fella has never lied to me about anything. He?s also a red so why would he wanna bullshit about our shop?
It might be true, it might be false. But I don?t think we can use the term "reliable".
Did anyone on here see the Sky Sports News Christmas Shopping in the Club Shops reports where they showed what the clubs in each city were selling for Christmas. They showed the red shite shop first and in fairness they had some stuff that was a good idea, wallets and stuff. Then they went to our megastore and all I can say is it was a bit of an embarrassment. They showed an Everton football twice, an Everton baby outift and a home shirt that you can get personalised. Very original .The only thing a shop in L1 will do is show people how inept and behind we are in the merchandise stakes. I don't want us to have the amount of ridiculous uselss shite that the red bollox?s have but we deserve better.
I?m confused now. I just read Ian MacDonald?s "And If You Know Your History" article and in it there is a direct quote from Elstone when asked why we have no shop in the city centre: ?You have to be realistic, the reds sell ten times the number of our shirts. Their kit manufacturers pay a lot for their profile upkeep. A shop in L1 would not be viable?.
I don?t know how reliable this quote is but it looks like somone?s telling porkies ? surely not the CEO of Everton FC. That would be unheard of!
Sorry, Sean, but unless you say who your source is then this post is about as ?reliable? as the transfer rumours people come on here with. It?s just another "my mate?s dads uncle girlfriend said" story, except this time it?s about a shop rather than a player.
Surprised Michael didn?t tear your post apart as he normally does when people claim to have a reliable source!
I agree, Paul, unusual that nothing more than a rumour has been almost endorsed. That said, the Wollies store will be up for lease in the very near future...

Actually, I know a lot about this and it was Wyness who set the whole deal up. So many of you will wish he was still with us in days ahead.
Jim, you're right, our megastore is so far behind. About six years ago I wanted Everton pyjamas for older relatives, ages 60 plus year olds. They only had jim-jams with shorts, not the normal long legged ones. Imgine seeing your grandad in a set of these FFS. I wrote to the club on why can't I get these long-leg jim-jams, I got no reply. I'm still after a set of Everton long-legged pyjamas from our megastore...
The marketing of Everton is a joke, the club shop and the items it sells are a joke too. Hardly surprising because we are with Umbro and about to join up with Le Coq Sportif. How many kids wear these brands? They are seen as cheap and unfashionable compared to Nike or Adidas. If we want people to to buy stuff in the shop, we should have linked up with one of these major companies and got high quality merchandise into the shops; instead we get rubbish.
Have heard the name of the new store is... EVERTON 2!
Isn?t the club?s retail opps managed by JJB at the moment under license? If that?s up for renewal, it may be that we?re going alone again.
I suspect the cost of leasing premises in L1 has dropped dramatically in recent months. Hopefully the RS are tied to the excessive terms that would have been offered earlier on. ;-)
Simon
that may well be the case but premium space sells for premium rent because the returns are much higher and more secure so I guess the rumours about Liverpool 1 are not true if DK is anything to go by.
Hope they sell an Everton Dartboard, cant find one anywhere!!!
Where has it been said that we are going to get Le Coq Sportiff making the kits next year instead of Umbro? I agree with what John Martin said about the kit being made by Nike or Adidas.
Steven Flynn - excellent mate, that would be fantastic.
I would love it if Everton had a sense of humour and had a big shop front sign saying: "Everton 2,
Liverpool 1"
Hope they have tons of these £15 shirts to fill it too.
I?m not believing it until I see the Liverpool 1 store on the Goodison pitch holding an Everton shirt with it?s name and number on it.
Simon - the current economic conditions are not having a particular affect on commercial property... so far. Whilst residential stock is losing value, commercial is stable. Of course, the more Woolworths that happen, the more empty units there are, and the commercial sector may begin to feel the squeeze. As yet though, commercial rental prices have not been affected.
In all reality though, take a step back and look what we are discussing here. Everton might be having a club shop in the town centre. How ridiculous that, 2008 and counting, we don't have a club shop on the High Street.
Danielle, Keith Wyness wouldn’t take a dump unless someone was paying for it or he made a profit out of it so the thought that the slimy pocket filling thief had/has anything to do with it sickens me as even after he has left he sounds like he is still making money out of the club.
Kit bag have insisted EFC have a shop in L1 as part of the contract when they take over from JJB.
I heard about the Le Coq Sportiff story a few weeks ago and totally agree with John Martin. How many kids wear Le Coq Sportiff? Now think about how many kids wear Nike or Adidas. Surely it makes sense to get a top name and make buying kits, tracksuits, coats, sweatshirts and traing gear more appealing to our supporters. Common sense really!
Oh and another thing, it has nothing to do with the top names only wanting to make kits for the top teams because for one, Nike make Fulham's kits and two, Adidas make Derbys kit's.
Joeynkoo Ludden. Don’t talk nonsense. Commercial property has fallen off a cliff. Look at any major Insurance Company’s Property Fund. They are off by 25%+ in the past twelve months.
Kitbag manage Manchester United's club shop, Real Madrid's and many others. Kitbag will open the store, not Everton. I hardly fear being in Kitbag's hands, they know what they are doing... in fact they they are the biggest on-line retailer in their field. The shite are probably one of the only big names they don't manage!!!!
ps: United don't have a store in the city centre but Man City do.........
We are NOT likely to open a store in Liverpool 1, in our so called home city, while at the same time planning to become the biggest and most successful Premeir League team in the history of Kirkby.
John, it?s not nonsense. Perhaps have a chat to some of our friends at DTZ ? they are the experts afterall.
Lads, are you sure about this? Maybe them surveyors were planning on putting a TESCO EXPRESS store in the empty outlet?
Everton marketing is shameful, an embarrassment to our heritage and standing in the game and the city. The only quality EFC stuff is created and sold independently of the club, the profits going into private pockets.
Examples are decently made and priced watches, jewellery, belt buckles etc for the more discerning, less obvious supporter. All these and much more are available in the wider world of Evertonia. A friend has a beautifully reproduced model of the horse-drawn bus that toured the city in 1906 and 1933, totally unofficial but a real work of art.
Comments like those from Elstone (nice he may be but, he is, of necessity, a toadie) just reinforce how those in temporary charge of our club see Everton: small-time; if the ?Reds sell 10 times? etc, do something about competing ? don?t just wave the white flag FFS.

Gavin,
You really are the type of fan that sickens me. Wyness was never a thief and you just have to look at the Board he had to work with to see he did a good job. The reality of having to run our club is very different from the easy stones you throw. Grow up, I hope he sees your comments and sues you. Very few on here would really want the challenge or could do it.
Billy Bradshaw, "Kitbag have insisted EFC have a shop in L1 as part of the contract when they take over from JJB." ? How do you know?
Interesting, just been onto the official site for a last minute gift for a family member ? a Duncan Ferguson DVD (not my idea!). The Site confirms everything that is shambolically second rate with this aspect of the club:
DVD?s for sale? 1 - Howard Kendall "My Story" - for £2!
CD?s? - 1 "Z-Cars"
Books? 1 book, out of stock!
Calendars... 1 calendar! That?s it, it seems.
Look at Utd, Arsenal, dare I say it even Liverpool sites, and weep. How do these people responsible for the promotion of this football club through merchandising etc get away with it? If we bemoan the lack of real class on the field at the moment, then the merchandising crew make the first team look like Brazil and Pele at their imperious best.
How on earth can a man such as Bill Kenwright, one of the most successful impresarios in the world of entertainment, POSSIBLY condone this state of affairs? I do not expect him to be an expert on tactical/technical aspects of team play but I do expect him to be at the top of his game in this area. Why are the managers responsible for this shambles not shown the door? What a disgrace. Or was I just somehow looking at the wrong site?
Danielle, I stand by every word and fat boy is welcome to come looking. He made a mockery of the position he held at Everton Football Club and even the slightest bit of research into his past activities prior to joining the club ? his failure at the Sydney Olympics and underhanded treatment of a supposed customer and subsequent expulsion from Australia, then his retreat to Aberdeen and lies to that football club and fans, and his attempt to relocate them to a retail park under his own stadium development company, which strangely he also froze then resurrected during his time at Everton Football club... or are these all to easy to locate details beyond your blinkered reach?
Sickened, yes we all were of this shoddy con merchant, pity some people don?t investigate the openly available material at hand before claiming the high moral ground and the far fetched ideas that he was responsible for gallant and admirable business activity at Everton Football Club.
Anthony and Gavin...

Gavin,
You still persist in printing lies that I know to be lies. I expect to see Wyness over the holidays at an event. If you are so sure, let me have your contact details I can pass on to him. You should be ashamed and I will show him your posts.
"I expect to see Wyness over the holidays at an event."
Pie eating contest?
Danielle, Gavin is entitled to his opinion even if you don't agree. Are you his lawyer or something?
Our CEO informed the Shareholders Forum of last week that the Club has no intentions of opening a Store in Liverpool 1. He went on to say that they were looking at another City Centre site. He refered to expensive rents as been a major factor in not having a City Centre store.
I cannot understand why a Club that claims to have a 13 million fanbase (copyright Robert Elstone @ the Public Inquiry) cannot get its commercial operations on a secure footing. One final note, now that the Club has reached the "top 20" in the newly published rich list, would you not think that they would call an AGM for the shareholders to adopt the accounts?
Danielle, When you see Kieth, ask him what it was like being dragged through the bankruptcy court... and casually mention how surprised you were that this blot on one’s personal record was apparently not considered serious enough to prevent him from being appointed CEO at Everton ? or was he perhaps a little economical with that particular part of his CV?
Danielle could you also ask Keith why he lied to us about the quality of the stadium? We were told it wil be "world class" , Yet in the Official planning document it says "medium quality"

I will ask any questions but I have already asked the bankruptcy one, completely untrue. You bunch of amateurs are just that. No life. Nothing else to do but pretend.
Try and get a real life. I really hope he does take action but he will probably just laugh off your pathetic little lies. Show some proof and I will ask further.
Bankruptcy?
A thief?
Once again if you are serious let me have your contacts and we will see who is hiding behind anything.
I just get fed up with stone trowing when you lot are all in glass houses.
What always astounds me about Everton’s marketing activity is that
1/ They do not keep an accurate database of their supporters. You would think that any business who thinks they may have 13 milliuon customers would like to get them all logged onto an official list. THen break the list down for separate marketing activity - ie target people in a 50 mile radius for Season tickets, people in the Southern hemisphere for T-shirts in the English Winter months, Target fans with children with Junior kits, etc, etc, whatever. But as far as I know they haven’t ever tried to do it. I say this because some years I get nothing from the Club at all, and other years I get 3 souvenir brochures which appears to indicate I am on more than one list and they have just cobbled all the data together and sent things to anybody - often more than once.
2/ They never actually ask us what we would like in terms of merchandise, ticketing, corporate etc, etc. If you know who a lot of your customers are and you are a niche product. which essentially is what a football club is, you can ask and you know who to ask. It’s not like being Boss of somewhere like Currys and not really knowing who might visit your shop is it?
To me, it’s just common sense, but seemingly at EFC this sort of approach is either far too difficult to understand or some key people are either too lazy or unmotivated to try it. It disgusts me to be honest.
